i know the CEO tim thing isn't real in canon but it's so fucking funny to me to think about lex luthor showing up to WE all like "time to meet up with brucie wayne" and instead he meets the worlds most unhinged 17 year old.
I love to think that during Kaz's journey to re-learn skin-to-skin touch, he starts touching Inej's hair instead. Just going through it with naked fingers, or combing it, or maybe even braiding it. He's a bit tense at first, because he's still Kaz Brekker and affection doesn't come natural to him. But eventually it becomes a habit. It's a way of telling her he's trying, and he's giving her his best. It's a way of being intimate without getting triggered, a way of cuddling her without ruining the mood with staggered breathing.
Tim, after explaining the most gruesome and unhinged plan to ever exist: Any questions?
Kon: You terrify me.
Tim: That wasn't a question.
Kon: Right, sorry
Inej: you don't want Kaz to die
Inej: and I don't want Kaz to die
Inej: so now we've just gotta make sure Kaz doesn't want Kaz to die
Jesper: fantastic plan, but have you met Kaz
Sure, maybe the firepox caused his raspy voice or maybe it's the fact that this guy is quite willing to swallow any tools he might need for a job with no qualms about throwing them up later.
Maybe it was both.
do you ever wonder if at Jan Van Eck's party there was someone praying for divine intervention or something and then Kaz Dirtyhands Brekker and Wylan disguised as some guy from Shu Han fell through the ceiling
i completely forgot "brick by brick" is an actual phrase that people say and is not always followed by "i will destroy you"
I love the idea of inej taking over kaz's office while he's away. Someone comes up and knocks on the door, already bricking it because they're about to come face to face with dirtyhands bastard of the barrel, but then they open the door and there's this small, shadow cloaked shape twirling a knife at the table and looking at them with glinting eyes and they're like holy shit this is even worse what saints help me
Mrs Ghafa: when did you realized you were ready to be a parent?
Kaz: well, not to brag but the queen herself inspired me
…
Zoya: YOU ARE A SICK MAN! NO,SERIOUSLY? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?! YOU KNOW I SHOULD HAVE YOU EXECUTED FOR THIS? WHAT PART OF YOUR SICK BRAIN MADE YOU THINK IT WAS OKAY TRYING TO TRICK ME INTO GIVING YOU FULL CUSTODY OF MY CHILD?…
Kaz : she said “i love you uncle Kaz”
Zoya: YOU-ARE-NOT-HER-UNCLE, AND IF YOU WANT A CHILD SO BAD YOU SHOULD GO AND HAVE YOUR OWN AND LEAVE MINE!
…
Kaz: she told me that i totally should be a father
Inej: well…not a lie ,technically
Jesper: You just killed a man
Kaz: He wasnt a very nice man though was he?
Jesper: No he really wasnt
Kaz & Jesper: *giggling*
Jesper: Stop, we cant laugh its a crime scene
Kaz: You’re the one who shot him, dont blame me
"To hell with revenge, to hell with his schemes. If Rollins had done something to Inej, Kaz would paint East Stave with his entrails"
- Crooked Kingdom
I don't think we talk about this much, but this one line just shows how important Inej is, to Kaz.
Revenge is the foundation of Kaz's life, his sole purpose, his final destination, his motivation. The reason he lives. Revenge is why Kaz didn't give up. Revenge is everything to him.
And yet he was willing to give that up. For what?
For Inej. Inej Ghafa. His Wraith. The only person he could trust and knew won't use his secrets against him.
And I think it is very important.
pjo fans !!!!!!!! rb with the greek god that you claimed as ur godly parent when you first read percy jackson and which greek god you think could be your godly parent now
JESUS CHRIST.. I FORGOT HOW MAD HE GOT IN THE MANGA...
We eatin good today
percy and annabeth being an unstoppable force in capture the flag. like, to the point where if a camper spots only one of them, they panic because where is the other one?
I heard they're coming back!
seeing percy, annabeth, and grover in the show, finally getting our first, real looks at them, and i can't stop thinking about the bridge from "try", one of the cut songs from the lightning thief musical.
The weight of the world's on my shoulders Like Atlas is crushing me down We're not brave, we're not strong, we're not soldiers My heart's just a drum, and, damn, does it pound
(not even touching on the atlas foreshadowing bc that gets me in a completely different way)
they're CHILDREN. this trio is a group of twelve-year-olds who have never faced this sort of danger before. not to mention what they've been through prior to this quest.
annabeth's run away from home because of her stepmother's hatred towards her. she's lost the person she sees as her older sister, and has pretty much no one who understands her.
percy has no one. from where he stands, his mother is dead, and his father doesn't care about him. he's been thrown into this world and all he knows is that everyone either thinks he should be dead or wants him dead.
grover's a failure. his father and uncle were killed, and his first time escorting half-bloods, he gets mixed around, and the daughter of zeus dies. this is his only chance to prove himself and find pan.
they're not soldiers. they're just trying to prove themselves and find somewhere they belong. they're not being brave, they're literally doing this because they have to. percy's the only one in the group with some kind of power, but even then, he hasn't been trained long, and doesn't know how to control it.
the tv series is going to absolutely wreck me because we know how traumatized and changed this trio becomes. we're going to see percy go from being bright-eyed and hopeful to weighed down and realistic. we're going to watch annabeth's heart break so many times, between thalia's death, luke's betrayal, and further down the road, thalia's departure with the hunt and luke's death. we're going to see grover's grief, his guilt, his desperation to be accepted and respected.
but we're also going to see them become a family, become an inseparable tangle of threads woven together by fate, and i cannot wait to see that.
can we please discuss how percy asks annabeth to kiss him in tlo? and then annabeth tells him that she'll consider it if he survives the war? and then she proceeds to fight to keep him alive? to the point of taking a poison knife to the arm to protect him? and then she goes to find him after the war? and intiates the kiss? homegirl had goals.
au where their life isnt pain and suffering? yes pls
"Hmmmm my son just expressed displeasure at being sent away to boarding school throughout his childhood and feels like he was being pawned off so his mother and I wouldn't have to bother with him. But he keeps acting out and I don't know what to do. I know! I'll send him away to another fucking boarding school-"
Konner runs into Tim's room and starts yelling at him for committing atrocities and "how could you do this! What happened to your code! There were civilians there! I thought I knew you!" Yknow, the works. And Tim's like
What are you talking about
And Conner gets all angrier and he's yelling at tim and stuff
And then tim just kinda sighs and pulls a little whiteboard out of his desk that has "Days since an evil version of myself has fucked shit up" or something like that and he erases the number under and puts 0 and is just like "Okay, let's go" super unenthusiastically . He sounds so tired and done with it.
Tim: Welcome to this meeting of the Wayne family middle child club. Shall we get started?
Jason: Why are you in charge of this club? Im the first middle child, I should be in charge.
T: I'm in charge because you're in charge of the dead robin club. Plus as basically the middlest mild child I think I'm more qualified.
Steph: When did we vote on who was in charge?
T: STEPH!?! Why are you here, you're not even legally one of Bruce's kids?
S: but since you all consider me family I think I belong here.
J: Agreed
Duke: how often do you guys have meetings like this?
Cass: more often than you'd think
Duke: do they all start like this?
J: Yeah pretty much
Duke: um...ok.
Dick, walking in: oh what are you guys up too?
J: NOTHING GET OUT.
oh and ANOTHER interesting thing that Riordan does with Percy in the tartarus chapters to never ever bring up again is Percy achieving seemingly impossible(?) physical feats.
Like when Percy kills Arachne, he does so so quickly that Annabeth can't comprehend it. She literally asks him "How did you move so fast?" and he just shrugs and is like "Gotta watch out for each other right? Anyways..." and immediately changes the subject.
Then later he jumps over a river with Annabeth on his back and again, right before it, she's like "How are you going to do this??? It's twenty feet across. How can you possibly do that?" and he straight up is just like "yeah I can do it just close your eyes" and then does it???
of course these moments happen during Annabeth's pov so we'll never know for sure but its just so fascinating cause Riordan goes out of his way to indicate that Percy was displaying strength, speed, agility, etc way beyond his typical threshold while also implying that not only was Percy aware of it but he was either trying to downplay it to Annabeth or avoid discussing it altogether.
