Hey! So I am working on the next chapter of Low Lays the Devil, but it's just been a busy and exhausting week. I have three days off of work after tonight and my only plans are taxes and laundry, so hopefully I can get the next chapter up soon!

So I have about 1, maaaaybe 2, more chapters of “Tethered” left and then I’ll do probably a few of “Low Lays the Devil in Me” since I’ve favored the shorter fic the last few days. After that, I’ll put the prologue of the Pirate AU!!

Janna preserve me, Caitlyn thought in frustration. She shut the door shut just hard enough to startle the man awake, who shot up like a gun, a piece of paper he had drooled on sticking to his face. “I don’t have your money,” he said quickly and sleep slurred. “Captain Reese, I’m Officer Caitlyn Kiramman. I was sent over here from North Piltover Station for reassignment,” Caitlyn stated. The man blinked his dull, watery blue eyes several times at her, as if he wasn’t sure if she was real or not. “You’re who from where?” he asked as he pulled the paper off of him.

I've said before that I've been making up my fics as I go, as I have found out that I am more of a discovery writer than I am an outline writer. So this entire time for "Low Lays the Devil in Me," I've had no idea how the conflict will come to a climax.
Oh, oh, oh booooooy. I've thought of it and I am soooooo excited!!! I also think I know what the last scene will be. Don't worry, we still have quite a bit of plot left. I think we're over the halfway mark plot wise, but I'm just stoked!

Of all the things people wanted to know regarding the secrets of the noble and oldest of Piltover’s Houses, treasure was almost always the first thing they asked about. Predictable, she thought in annoyance. “Why are you so interested in gold, Smeech?” she replied with a low voice. “Shall I tell the Chembarons that you are unhappy with what they pay you?” A low growl from him made her smirk. She heard the whirling of gears and suddenly she sensed that Smeech was very close to her face. “I would like to see you try that kind of wit with the Chembarons.” His voice shuddered in an almost anticipatory, sadistic joy.

The way I am enjoying writing this next chapter in "Low Lays the Devil in Me" about the Chembarons is almost worrisome. This is almost as much fun to write as Vi's extraction chapter.
If anyone is wondering, a great album to listen to while reading "Low Lays the Devil in Me" is the official soundtrack to "Candela Obscura" by Colm R. McGuinness. It's definitely good for a more seedy underbelly in a steam punk Victorian era setting, which is perfect for this fic's grittier scenes. Plus it's just dope as hell. I've listened to it on repeat when writing Caitlyn working as "Officer Kiramman."
OH! Just saw that "Low Lays the Devil in Me" has just reached over 100,000 words with the newest chapter. Which means this CaitVi series is now almost 300,000 words long. We still have quite a ways to go in this fic, but I do believe we're now on the other half of half way done plot wise. Hard to tell when I'm making it up as I go along, but holy shit these are long fics. Haha. Definitely could see this series being 350,000 words total before I'm finished.

“Violet, don’t you dare. You are disgusting,” Caitlyn said, backing up. A bead of sweat dripped from Vi’s chin as she grinned impishly. “I thought you liked me all sweaty, Cupcake,” she said. Caitlyn saw Powder wrinkle her nose and utter a quiet, “ew.” “Violet,” Caitlyn said warningly, but before she could blink, Vi darted forward and wrapped her powerful arms around Caitlyn and lifted her off her feet, rubbing her drenched face all over Caitlyn’s. Caitlyn let out a half delighted, half disgusted shriek and pulled her head back away from Vi, but couldn’t fight her off with her arms pinned to her side. Caitlyn was strong, but she had nothing on Vi’s strength and knew she would never be able to push Vi off of her if Vi didn’t want to let go. “Release me at once, Violet,” she cried out, but the annoyance she tried to convey was belayed by the stupid grin that she knew pulled at her lips. Vi immediately let go, her own smile almost blinding. “I’m so sorry, princess,” she said, then gave Caitlyn a sweet kiss to emphasize her apology.

Caitlyn nodded, the lump in her throat made it difficult to form words around. Her mother must have seen something—something different—in her eyes as Caitlyn noticed she had stopped breathing. “Of course, Caity. Whenever you’re free, I’ll be here.”

Pirate AU it is! Thank you everyone who voted. I have the plot figured out as well as the main characters and the setting. The bonus is that since it's going to be set in Runeterra, I will actually really get to sink my teeth into some of the magic within LoL lore, but it won't a super heavy magic story. Pirates will still be the main course.
What I'll have to figure out is how pirate-y I want to make it. Pirates did some pretty horrific things IRL (still do) and I don't want to make our characters out to be monsters. I'll have to figure out how to write a more anti-hero, romanticized pirate story while still making it exciting and the stakes high for something as crazy as a pirate adventure can be.
Maybe I'll start watching and reading some pirate stories for inspiration. Give me some suggestions if you have any!

Ch. 10: The Alliance Part III "Low Lays the Devil in Me" CaitVi FanFic
Caitlyn was surprised to see Vi actually facing the mirror, but then felt her heart sink when she saw why. Her brow was furrowed with frustrated concentration as she carefully attempted to apply concealer to her face tattoo. She growled in annoyance when the black ink peaked through what looked like one of several layers. Vi huffed and threw the concealer brush onto the counter, which bounced harmlessly into the sink. “Fuck,” she whispered angrily and hung her head in defeat. Caitlyn stepped in and slowly put a hand on Vi’s shoulder, which made her whip her head up in surprise. “Cupcake, I didn’t hear you. I—” she said, then as she remembered what she had just been doing, went to wipe off the make up with the back of her hand, which only smeared it across her cheek. “Damn it. I—I’m sorry, I should have asked to use it—” Caitlyn put a finger on her lips and Vi silenced herself. She patted the counter and Vi pulled herself up to sit on it. Without speaking a word, Caitlyn grabbed a washcloth and wet it before she gently wiped the smeared and ineffective makeup off, tenderly cupping Vi’s chin as she did so. Vi closed her eyes, either in shame or to accept the comfort Caitlyn offered her, and let out a shaky breath. “I don’t want your mom to see it,” she quietly confessed.
I honestly got so caught up in just enjoying writing that I didn't realize I was so close being done with the next chapter 😂 I just have to edit and will hopefully have the next part of Low Lays the Devil in Me up soon!

“Gods I’ve missed you both so much,” Vi said with such tender sincerity, Caitlyn would have been jealous if her girlfriend wasn’t talking to her breasts. She wanted to laugh at or tease Vi, but she was currently still focused on getting the feeling back in her legs and oxygen to flow through her lungs properly. While she did so, Vi kissed the objects of her affection, careful to avoid overstimulating Caitlyn. Caitlyn couldn’t blame her, as amusing as she found it. She had missed Vi—and her body—so much that she also wanted to worship every inch of her and the evidence of that attempt littered the other woman’s skin.

Not sure if I should post the next chapter yet. I said in an earlier post that if I found a natural break, I would be done and I think I'm at it and i would be happy with it if if this was the whole chapter. It would mean a slightly shorter than average chapter (which is still pretty long considering the word count on some of these chapters lol). But I know there's one specific scene that won't be in it yet that everyone has been waiting for.

Ch. 8 "If This Ain't Heaven on Earth (Not Sure What Heaven is Worth) CaitVi Fanfic
Caitlyn put a hand on the door handle and turned it, only to find it locked. Oh, she thought. She didn’t have a key to the Lodge. She never had to worry about it. She pushed the small gold button next to the door and heard the doorbell ring throughout the building. Caitlyn adjusted her backpack and tapped a thumb against her thigh. Finally, the door opened and she was greeted by the sight of bright blue hair in long braided pigtails and light blue eyes wide with surprise. “CAITLYN!” cried Powder so loudly that it made Caitlyn’s ears ring. She suddenly scrambled to hold up Powder, who threw herself at Caitlyn and lifted her legs to wrap them around her waist. Careful not to drop her, Caitlyn hugged the younger girl close, her heart singing with joy at seeing Vi’s little sister.

I'm going to try to get the next chapter of Low Lays the Devil in Me out before Saturday afternoon (US time), but no promises. I have some plans this weekend and I also work, so there's a chance our reunion chapter won't be out until sometime Monday. I'm going to try to not make you wait that long, but I also am not going to rush such an important chapter! It'll be worth the wait, I promise, if that's how it shakes out.
The choke hold means that I wrote 4500 words of the next chapter before work when I told myself that I would watch the latest episode of Critical Role 🙈

They needed to expand the prison since they threw so many Zaunites in it.” Caitlyn felt rage flare up in her and her lip curl in disgust at the idea of the desperate Zaunites clawing up from the mass grave of the fissures only to be thrown in prison for just trying to survive. “I’ve dreamed of dismantling Stillwater brick by brick as my first act as councilor,” she practically growled, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the edge of the table. Cassandra chuckled darkly. “When I lie awake at night thinking about what those Wardens are doing to Violet, I entertain the same fantasy.” Caitlyn met her mother’s gaze over the blueprints and suddenly felt a strong sense of kinship with her over how much they both cared for Vi.

You guys wanted a Vi rescue mission? You will soon have 11,500+ words worth of a chapter on it 😉 just know that it gets pretty dark given the situation our characters have found themselves in, but not too graphic.
I am 4500 words into the next chapter of Low Lays the Devil in Me and it might be my favorite one yet of this fic! I'm having so much fun!! I think a lot of you will really enjoy it, too 😁
out of curiosity — do you think you’ll ever do a chapter in Low Lays the Devil in Me or a separate fic detailing Vi’s POV while in Stillwater? (Not that I’m complaining about a Cait-focused fic — she’s my fave character & I love angsty storylines in her POV!)

I don't know if I'll do a POV chapter of Vi in Stillwater. I do promise that her time in there will not be swept under the rug! I could either do a POV chapter a bit later or do a separate fic like I did for some of the non-Vi centered scenes in "Heart Made of Glass: Perspectives." Since I'm making up 75% of this as a I go long, it's hard to say yes or no explicitly to anything. Not ruling it out, but no promises either.

Do you wake up every day with a sense of purpose and go to sleep every night with the knowledge that you are making your mark on this world?” Caitlyn thought about her answer carefully and decided to play it safe. “Would you even believe me if I told you that I do?” she replied with a sardonic smirk. Corina stopped and pulled out a few weeds from a beautiful batch of yellow bulb plants that Caitlyn recognized as tulips. When she was finished, she looked at Caitlyn. Her dark eyes, Caitlyn realized, were speckled with beautiful gold flakes that anyone could get lost in, should she choose to weaponize them. “If you were an ordinary citizen, perhaps I would believe you,” she finally answered. “But to go from the pinnacle of Piltover political power to the banality of chasing down petty criminals in the Undercity? Then no, I don’t believe that someone like you would find that fulfilling.”

Hello again Caitlyn Kirammans, it's me, the one with the questions. I thank you for answering me yesterday (or 2 days ago) for the questions about your story Low Lays the Devil in Me and the future of it.
I still have some doubts about it like:
Low Lays the Devil in Me takes place in 2 scenarios which are the corruption in the Piltover Council with Caitlyn and the Shimmer cover-up in Stillwater Prison with Vi (if I remember correctly, correct me if I'm wrong🤔) and Sevika will be Vi's partner in the prison.
1: Will Sevika have some relevance in Stillwater's story and her relationship with Vi? (maybe inspired by Orange the New Black if you know the series or how it happens inside the prisons)
2: Will there be some romance as Sevika x OC?
3: Are you a League of Legends veteran?
4: Will you make fanfics from other fandoms in the future or exclusively from arcane?

Hello! I am happy to answer questions 😁 and you are right. Vi is focusing on getting evidence of shimmer production in Stillwater and Caitlyn is focusing on Corina and the Chembarons’ influence on the Council.
1. I do have serious plans for Sevika. This first bit of the story unfortunately with her and Vi in prison, we don’t get to interact with her too much since Caitlyn only has access to her for 30 min a week. But! They have talked about getting both Vi and Sevika out of prison. They just need to gain access to the shimmer factory, which takes time.
2. I don’t currently have any plans for Sevika being involved in any romance sub plots but that’s not because I don’t want to. I am making 75% of this up as I go along, so if it comes up later that Sevika has chemistry with someone, then I will definitely explore that through Caitlyn’s eyes.
3. I have never once played League and I don’t have plans to. I don’t think I’ve even seen more than 10 seconds of gameplay 😅 but I have done a lot of reading up of LoL lore of Noxus, Piltover, and Zaun. I find the world building of this game very interesting, but LoL itself is not the kind of game I’d like to play and the horror stories of its fanbase frighten me 😅
4. I have written fanfic in the past for other fandoms, but never with this kind of excitement and the ones I’ve written for Arcane are far and away my most well received fics. I won’t say I’ll stick exclusively to Arcane, but I don’t foresee me being gripped by another show like Arcane has gripped me anytime soon. Never say never though.

I'm wrapping up the next chapter in "Low Lays the Devil in Me" and I was like, why does this feel like it's so short? Then I realized that 5,500 words are nothing in comparison to the almost 25,000 words of the last chapter 😅 this kind of chapter length is a breeze in comparison to that! Lol
