Ya'll, I looked for aaaages for this artwork for the Stillwater chapter of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" (if you know, you know) to be a reference/inspiration piece. This is exactly what I pictured Vi wearing, but I couldn't find it to describe it. Didn't find it in time but did now haha

In the few hours since I’ve posted the last chapter of “Low Lays the Devil in Me” and thus wrapping up that series, a few people have asked in the comments if I’ll do any one shots or anything like that in the AU.

While I love and appreciate that people really like my version the Arcane/LoL world and characters, I do not see myself doing anything else in this AU. I almost never say never, but it’s highly unlikely.

I am very happy and satisfied with where this story has ended and I’ve never been one milk a story just cuz I like the world/characters. To me, Caitlyn and Vi’s story in this world is complete and I don’t have any desire to further it.

I have never, in my life, believed I would ever actually complete even 1 long-form fanfic, let alone the 2 I have now completed as of today. If you look at my fanfics before this, it's a few one-shots and a WIP that'll never get completed. I am usually not one to talk about being proud of something I did, but I will absolutely say it today. Writing this series was creatively fulfilling, an absolute joy (and at times, a headache) to write, and one of the craziest things in writing I've ever accomplished.

In a rare moment of self-plugging: for anyone who wants it, I'll leave a link below. This is an almost 350,000-word, 2-fic series of an episode 1 canon-divergence (with some major liberties taken with canon). It's an alternative, slow-burn story of what could have happened if Hextech was never invented, Zaun and Piltover's clash was the focus, with Caitlyn and Vi meeting and falling in love as teenagers who are caught in the middle of it all.

Okay, so let me be a bit of a sap for a moment.

I never, ever, ever in my wildest dreams thought I could ever actually complete a fic (or any piece of writing) of this length, let alone 2 in a series that make up 350,000 words! According to Google, the average word count for a book is 70-100,000. So, since I started this fic in December of 2024, I have spent the last six months almost to the day writing over 3 novels' worth of words. Now, working in an established world with established characters (a lot of which I also used from official LoL lore) definitely helped with world-building and character creation. However, that is still a wild feat to accomplish, and I’m not so humble as to not be proud of myself for writing two semi-coherent stories with 350,000 words and making them up, for the most part, as I went.

That all being said, I’m not 100% sure if I would have done this at the pace that I had with the excitement that I had if it weren’t for how amazing and kind you all have been. The fact that there about 1200 comments (that’s halved from what the actual number shows because I’ve replied to almost every single one, so I’m not counting mine) and I’ve only had 2 hate comments that I’ve had to delete is absolutely wild given that this is the internet and that CaitVi can be a bit of a controversial pairing in the fandom. What I’m trying to say is thank you to every single person who has read this, left a comment, left a kudos, subbed to the fic/my ao3 account, bookmarked, followed me on social media, been inspired by this story to write a fic/create a piece of art, and everything in between. This has been one of the most creatively fulfilling things I’ve ever done, and I appreciate every person who was kind enough to give it a chance and more.

This story is not perfect, I’m sure there are more than a few plot holes or underdeveloped parts and other issues that come with fanfic writing without an editor and problems that come with making it all up as you go along, but I don’t care. This story and this version of these characters mean so much to me (looking at you, my queen Cassandra Kiramman), and this will forever have a special place in my heart. Thank you to everyone who has joined me on this wild ride. It has meant the world to me ❤️💙

Caitlyn ignored the stares and gasps of the people on the streets of Piltover as she sprinted past them. She knew she must look a wreck. Bruised and scraped from the battle at Stillwater and now drenched in blood while carrying a rifle was not how any of them had ever seen the Princess of Piltover before, but Caitlyn didn’t care. The panic that clawed at her throat helped her ignore the exhausted muscles in her legs and arms and the slightly foggy sensation in her brain from the effects of the drug and no sleep. Still, she couldn’t fail. Wouldn’t. She could still hear Maddie’s voice, after all this time since Bloodcliff, pushing her to be better—to do better. “Combat is won when you find the will to overcome your own weakness. You have to want it—need it—more than your enemies. Tell me, Kiramman, do you want to win? Need to win?” There was never a time when Caitlyn needed something more. There were three seconds of shocked silence between the two of them before a protective ferocity unlike anything Caitlyn had ever seen from Pivoni roared behind her dark eyes. Even after a night of facing down enemies who tried to kill her, Caitlyn wasn’t sure she’d ever seen anyone look at her with such fury before. Perhaps it was because she was so tired, or maybe it was the shock at the scene before her that caused Caitlyn to miss Pivoni spring from her chair and suddenly shoved Caitlyn against a wall with a powerful grip on the collar of her shirt as she looked at her with a twisted snarl. “You better have a good reason for being here or I swear to Janna I will fucking kill you,” Pivoni spat and Caitlyn, despite her confident claim to Vi earlier, realized that Pivoni meant it. “I—I didn’t—I—” Pivoni yanked at Caitlyn’s shirt and slammed her against the wall again. “Last chance, Kiramman.”

Alright, hoping to have the next chapter out soon of "Low Lays the Devil in Me." This one will be a lot more dialogue-heavy compared to our last super action-packed chapter, but it's necessary for you guys to get some answers. This is the penultimate chapter, though!! Just one more after this next one, and I do think I am going to go with an epilogue, so technically there are 3 more chapters left and we're done with this massive body of work 😱😱

After that, I will maybe write a quick one-shot as a palette cleanser, get a new chapter out for "Tethered," and then post the prologue of the Pirate AU!!

Vi, through her blackening vision, saw something smack the Warden in the temple, and he whipped his head around just in time to see the barrel of Caitlyn’s rifle pointed at him before she pulled the trigger. The fingers around her throat went lax and Vi sucked in several lungsful of air before she looked up at Caitlyn and smiled. “Thanks, Cupcake.” “Can’t have you go out like that, darling. That would be embarrassing,” Caitlyn said with a teasing tone. “No way. I plan on living to a ripe old age and dying in your arms,” Vi replied, winking at her girlfriend even if she knew Caitlyn couldn’t see it behind her mask. Caitlyn reached a hand down and pulled Vi up. “Sweet talker,” her lover replied before she turned to the iron gates.

I just have some editing to do and a final read through of the next chapter of “Low Lays the Devil in Me” and you guys will have 7500 words of the battle at Stillwater to enjoy! It’s super action packed and it’s the longest sequence of non-stop action I’ve written by a mile! It was fun but hard to write, but I think you guys will enjoy it. It still is in line with the M rating and I don’t get descriptive of gore or anything like that, but buckle up for a lot of violence as the darker side of Caitlyn and Vi will be fully fleshed out. This chapter, more than any of the others, represents the title of this fic very closely.

I spent all morning writing the next chapter of “Low Lays the Devil in Me” after I posted the previous one and wow, long action scenes are fun but hard to write. They all have to be different without being too insane that they’re not believable, the pacing has to be right, you want the characters all to shine, but also struggle and all while you have to keep in mind the greater plot. It’s been a blast but definitely a little frustrating.

Vi suddenly wished she could freeze time in that very moment of Caitlyn laughing in Vi’s childhood bedroom before everything would change and there was no going back. She raised her hand and pushed Caitlyn’s hair behind her ear, then cupped her cheek. Caitlyn sighed and gripped her fingers, pulling Vi closer as she kissed her palm so tenderly it made the back of Vi’s eyes burn. “I could never have done this without you, Cupcake,” Vi whispered. Caitlyn shook her head. “You are so strong, Violet,” she replied and brought a hand up to Vi’s chest, laying it over her heart. “And you love so fiercely. You are the daughter of revolutionaries. You never would have taken everything my people did lying down. At one point, sooner or later, you would have acted. You love your people too much.” “No. No more of this my people and your people,” Vi said, and the intensity of her tone made blue eyes widen in surprise. “Our people. You and I have bled and lied and killed and sacrificed for this moment. Soon, this will be over, and we can begin building a future that all our people deserve. We can be the ones who show them what they are capable of when we work together. We will show them, Cait. We will show them all.”

Everyone, the level of excitement I have for the next chapter of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" is out of this world. I'm already 1500 words into it and I just posted the previous one 2.5 hours ago! I wish I didn't have to work or else I would keep going. This will probably be a pretty long one, too, given the content of it.

Caitlyn casually sat down, unaffected by the tone in the other girl’s voice. “I wouldn’t go so far as to say that this is an olive branch—there’s too much bad blood between us for something like that—but I did want to offer something akin to it. A white flag, if you will.” Pivoni sneered and leaned back in her chair, her dark eyes flashing in disbelief. “Caitlyn Kiramman laying down her arms and offering a token of peace? Is Piltover about to be swallowed up by the isthmus?” Caitlyn couldn’t stop the amused scoff that left her. “This is a strategic retreat on my part. Given that we now work together, in a certain capacity, I figured that we could at least try to be somewhat civil towards one another.” The other girl stared at her, expressionless, for about ten seconds before she did something that Caitlyn did not expect. She laughed. Pivoni laughed hard, and the slight desperation that wound through it, followed by its abrupt end, sent a chill down Caitlyn’s spine.

I'M BACK BABY!!

Okay, for real this time, I plan on having the next chapter of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" out either late tonight (US time) or tomorrow morning, but most likely tomorrow. I'm happy with how it's turning out, and it's a nice little set-up chapter for the last arc of our story. Sorry it's taken me longer than planned, but it's coming along! I'm about 4000 words in and maybe have about 1000 words left, but alas, I must work.

I will let you guys know now that there will not be a sequel to this fic. I already have the ending planned and have had the same scene planned since the first chapter of this fic. It's been a lot of fun to write, but it will be a complete story that ends this series nicely, if I may be so bold as to say so.

I'm still alive!! I'm going to power through this little slump I've been in. Needing to rewrite the first few thousand words of the next "Low Lays the Devil in Me" 3 times was pretty disheartening and, honestly, where I live just got out of a brutal winter and into a very depressing spring, so I had a bit of S.A.D. the last few weeks. However, it's now beautiful summer-like weather outside, I am bathed in sunlight, and I am going to get through this next chapter. Hopefully I can make it good and not take my frustration out on the quality of the writing.

Sigh. Reminder to myself: I love writing and writing is fun. Lol. I am on my third rewrite of the first few thousand words of the next chapter of Low Lays the Devil in Me. I will probably expand more on it in the endnotes when I publish the chapter but man, it's annoying to do rewrites.

I'm 1500 words into the next chapter of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" and I'm just so excited about this story after the short break from it. I love "Tethered," but this cute little Romeo and Juliet steampunk spy fic is just so juicy and fun to write!! And since we're coming up on the last bit of this wild ride, it's even more fun!

"Low Lays the Devil" in Me Update

Hey, readers! Great news, "Low Lays the Devil in Me" will now be getting updates as soon as early next week. Thank you for being patient. For those that didn't know, I was spending my writing time getting about 50k words written of the "Tethered" CaitVi rewrite that I did. I felt bad that I abandoned the old version for the rewrite and wanted to make it up to those who liked that story by giving them a lot of updates. 50,000 words in 15 days I feel like definitely made up for it 😂

This means I will now be alternating between "Low Lays the Devil in Me" and "Tethered." To be honest, though, I don't think it'll take me too much longer to get the last of "Devil" out since there's maybe about 6ish (?) chapters left of the story. We'll see how that goes (I always underestimate how long a fic will be, it seems 😂). Anyways, fret not! I will begin writing the next chapter of "Devil" tomorrow 🙌🏻

LOVING the new Tethered fic but I also really need to know what happens next LLTDIM, especially because of what Caitlyn had to do. Need that hurt/comfort like I need oxygen 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Okay, my hand is feeling much better, and I can write again. I'll get a chapter or two of "Tethered" up first. I'm focusing on that one because I feel bad I stopped writing in the middle of the original version, so I want to get a few more out for those who like the story. Then I'll get back into "Low Lays the Devil in Me."

So, mainly my pride is injured, but I did hurt my left hand a bit tripping and I used my hand to break my fall. Just scraped up, nothing even close to broken or sprained, so all good. I might be a little slow on any updates just because it's awkward to type. Obviously I'm going to sit here and force myself to type through the pain, but just wanted to let you all know. Will be back at in earnest soon with updates for Tethered and Low Lays the Devil in Me!

Okay, so I think I have the rest of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" planned out. As of right now, there are about 5-6 chapters left with the potential for an epilogue. We'll see how it goes. This is a loose outline. Aaaah, I can't believe we're getting that close, though!!

If the Sons find out that a Chembaron walked through their territory—” “Then we better not let any of them see me,” Corina interrupted with a smirk. Caitlyn felt her chest grow so tight she almost couldn’t breathe. Corina had no mask and only had a hood to disguise herself. If anyone recognized her… No witnesses, Caitlyn thought as what Corina was telling her filled her with a cold horror.

I’m going to be honest, I was worried I was starting to lose steam/inspiration for “Low Lays the Devil in Me.” It’s probably why I focused on writing “Tethered” for a few chapters. But I forced myself to just take ch. 16 a paragraph at a time on my phone for the last week and then forced myself to sit at my computer yesterday and finish the chapter.

Turns out forcing yourself to write even when you’re not inspired works. I’m now extra excited to keep working on it 🤣
