Everyone, The Level Of Excitement I Have For The Next Chapter Of "Low Lays The Devil In Me" Is Out Of

Here it is!

I swear on Janna I'm not abandoning Low Lays the Devil in Me, but I have to write a CaitVi one shot inspired by this. I'm already 3000 words into it and it really only will a one shot. Think of it as like a little balm to the angst in Low Lays the Devil 😂😂

Vote for a "Tethered" Rewrite

So, as much as I am tempted to rewrite "Tethered," I also don't want to disappoint the people who like this story as it is. However, I will say that I think I could create a much better story since this was initially supposed to only be 3 chapters. I will say that, to me, it's turned into this really amazing world building idea and intense love story that, in my opinion, I haven't done justice.

So, vote below if you'd be okay with a rewrite with alternating Cait and Vi POVs and deeper world building with Runeterra's magic system. If majority votes yes, I will begin the rewrite and start the Pirate AU after "Low Lays the Devil in Me" is finished since I'm not too far from being done with that one.

If "no" wins, then I'll just stick to Caitlyn just talking at Vi to move the story along and then finish it up in a chapter or two as I originally intended.

Okay, I know I don't owe anyone any explanations, but I do like to keep you all in the loop. I am having a hard time nailing down a really important series of small scenes in the Noxus chapters (which is currently 16,000+ words long pre-edit😬), and it's happening at a very busy week of work/personal life. So, I promise, this isn't me abandoning it. I'm still actively working on it, and even thinking about it when I'm not, but I just want it to turn out well, as much for you and for me. It'll make my brain go brrrrrrr when I figure it out, but I just need to get to that stage still lol reminds me a bit of the Kiramman Gala chapter in "Heart Made of Glass" 😂

This next chapter is taking longer than I thought because it’s going to be a doozy. I’m at 7300 words and I have lots more that needs to happen. I didn’t expect it to be that long but once I realized what I wanted to accomplish in Noxus, I realized it was going to be more like a short story inside the bigger story. I think you guys will like it though.

Low Lays the Devil in Me potential update.

Not sure if I should post the next chapter yet. I said in an earlier post that if I found a natural break, I would be done and I think I'm at it and i would be happy with it if if this was the whole chapter. It would mean a slightly shorter than average chapter (which is still pretty long considering the word count on some of these chapters lol). But I know there's one specific scene that won't be in it yet that everyone has been waiting for.

Would my last name have anything to do with why Caitlyn was upset after the Remembering?” Vi felt her heart squeeze painfully. “What does that have to do with anything?” “Because I am her mother who loves her dearly,” Cassandra stated very simply. Vi looked away from her, the pain of her and Caitlyn’s conversation on the bridge that night clawed at her throat.  “It wouldn’t be fair to her for me to hate her name and be with her,” she confessed quietly. “She’s an honest person, who loves people deeply. I don’t know if I could return that kind of love after everything I’ve been through because of people like you, or how you used to be.”

Now that a dumb work emergency is over with, I can tackle this beast. This fucking bad boy is 12,300 words long. I got my emotional support Panda Express on the way and I'm going to try to get this beast edited before I leave for work in a few hours.

CaitVi Fic Update

So, I said in the last chapter notes that this next one might take me a while because it's going to be beefy. I'm 6000 words in and I don't even think I'm halfway 😭😬🤣 thank god I'm a fast typer lol

If anyone is wondering, a great album to listen to while reading "Low Lays the Devil in Me" is the official soundtrack to "Candela Obscura" by Colm R. McGuinness. It's definitely good for a more seedy underbelly in a steam punk Victorian era setting, which is perfect for this fic's grittier scenes. Plus it's just dope as hell. I've listened to it on repeat when writing Caitlyn working as "Officer Kiramman."

I spent all morning writing the next chapter of “Low Lays the Devil in Me” after I posted the previous one and wow, long action scenes are fun but hard to write. They all have to be different without being too insane that they’re not believable, the pacing has to be right, you want the characters all to shine, but also struggle and all while you have to keep in mind the greater plot. It’s been a blast but definitely a little frustrating.
