As a younger trans dude, this lowkey made my cry just a bit. Seeing an older trans guy, who’s happy and encouraging us all to be ourselves really touched my heart. Be yourself! Be true to yourself! I promise it’s worth it. To all my trans brothers, sisters and overall queer siblings of any kind: we gotta stick together. I‘m proud of each and every one of you and I hope that one day, the world will just let us be, without predjudice and hate.

So, let me add my two cents to this conversation. I’m German and in my language, every noun has a gender (either female, male or neuter) and gets referred to by gendered articles which are der (the, masculine), die (the, feminine) or das (the, neuter) and it‘s the same with the pronouns for said noun where there are either er (he), sie (she) or es (it) pronouns used for the word.
And while the moon in many languages is seen as a symbol for femininity, which probably stems from the moon being a female noun in Latin (Luna, Lunae f.), in German, that is not the case.
In my language, the moon is a masculine noun and referred to by male articles. We say DER Mond (the moon) and when we want to say that it looks beautiful, we‘d say: “er sieht schön aus”, aka “he looks beautiful.”
So, what’s the takeaway from all of this? The easiest way to phrase it is, that both cultures and languages are simply very different all around the world. I know that that sounds a bit.. obvious but I have recently observed that, especially on the internet, there seems to be a “right” and “wrong” way to go about things.
Seeing matters from a perspective that isn’t typically “Latin” or “American” is often shunned and shut down online because people aren’t used to it.
You can easily see that happen in the above post, where the user who posted the photo and caption was immediately shunned by the people in the comments for using the “wrong” pronoun for the moon.
Which is kind of funny to me, seeing as in English, nouns DON’T EVEN HAVE gendered pronouns. So this is definitely coming from the culture online being heavily influenced by Latin, as the internet seems to be a very western space and many of those languages have roots there.
But to me it is important to say that just because Luna is a commonly used term when talking about the moon, that doesn’t have to mean that everyone needs to agree on it being female. In my language, that isn’t the case and I’d very much feel pretty annoyed if anyone told me that my or my language’s/culture‘s perspective is somehow wrong.
So, as the person above my way too lengthy post already said: we‘re not all Romans. And in my humble opinion, that‘s a good thing. So stop policing other people on stuff like this, just because they have a different perspective on this. Emphasis on the word DIFFERENT by the way. Different, not wrong.
I think I'm gonna start using he/him for the moon on purpose now.

You know, whenever I get a new phase because of a new fandom that I’m into, the whole thing immediately links itself to the music I'm listening to right now. Every time. Even though often, the music doesn’t even really fit, I still always associate this fandom with this one particular song and vice versa. just got the scene with talking to Gale under the night sky in act 2 (beautiful scenery btw) and GOD. HOW in the HELLS am I supposed to romance anyone BUT him now??!
On the other hand, I want to romance Astarion and as much as I CAN NOT for the life of me find it easy to reject Gale, hurting Astarion in any way, shape or form would immediately reduce me to a pathetic puddle of tears.
WHY can I not romance both of them UGGHHH this is torture.
not to mention the fact that I have the hots for like EVERY romancable AND unromancable npc in this GODDAMN game.

Omg thank you for finally saying it!!! I‘m kinda in the midst of finding out that I might be trans ftm and use both they/them and he/him pronouns. X female reader fanfics make me feel so uncomfortable and dysphoric and I just hate it when people tag stuff as gender neutral and then continue to sprinkle in wayyy too many things that make it clear that they have a female reader in mind when writing it, like CMON ._.

Barbie made me cry, Part idk what
So, there are so many reasons why I cried during the Barbie movie, but the one scene that really made me tear up was the scene where Barbie meets the old woman at the bus stop (?) and tells her that she’s beautiful and she just answers with “I know it.” To me, this scene made me cry, because there are so many women in my life that I look up to and regard as INCREDIBLY beautiful, but by the societies norms, they aren’t beautiful at all. Because they are “too old” or “not slim enough” or don’t have a face that would be titled “pretty” or “beautiful” and some of the women that I’m talking about in this post even think of themselves like that. So every time I hear them say such things about themselves and every time I hear some stupid person on the internet talking about how some celebrity isn’t slim enough or young enough anymore, I just want to tell all the women in the world just how beautiful they are. How inspiring they are to me, how I love their grey or white hair, their wrinkles and their larger bodies, how I love their unique faces and their beautiful smiles and how I would like to punch everyone who ever told them that they aren’t beautiful or pretty or any of that.
That’s why his scene made me so emotional. Because Barbie told that beautiful old woman, exactly what I want to tell so many women in my life and because that old woman KNEW that she’s beautiful and that she doesn’t need to be young or thin to be just that.
Yeah, I know this post is long and not a lot of people are going to read all of it, but if you did read it, please just tell the women around you just how beautiful and important they are, because our society just loves to diminish anything that isn’t traditionally beautiful and that is simply a crime.
