I'm personally convinced that Lift is going to convert everyone to the Church Of A Big Dinner.

Now thinking about the plot of sa6 (presumably, they get stormlight back as the main *big win* moment- this is the Stormlight Archives after all)

ANYWAY thinking about that and the implications of Kaladin Stormblessed disappearing when stormlight does and returning when it does. Like Herald of Second Chances and "here's your second chance with stormlight. Here's your second chance at being Radiant". Or something.

WIP of the Oathpact reforged scene, I’m so unwell about it honestly.

EDIT - Finished artwork here.

With his most recent skill developments, Kaladin would make for an absolutely incredible Soulcaster. He would simply therapize the Stick into realizing that deep down in its wooden heart it wants to be Fire. Shallan could never.

Fun fact: Shallan lost the ability to transform into Veil not because she incorporated her after accepting her traumatic past, but rather because the second she rejected Kaladin Stormface the Charming Flying Man, Veil decided she could no longer work in such a hostile work environment and handed in her two weeks notice.

Looking back at Wind and Truth, I'm really glad I didn't reread any of the previous Stormlight books since Branderson had graciously decided to send half of the characters to the fucking Flashback Realm™️ so that you are essentially forced to reread all of the important scenes anyways...

I am manifesting with all my soul that Kaladin gets something cool to do in the (presumed?) 10 years before the Heralds need to return for the Odium showdown again. Therapy is great and all, but after 2-3 years I think most of Kaladin's work will be done and it will be up to the Heralds themselves to put into practice what they had learned/discovered.

I need Kaladin to be conveniently summoned/manifested offworld and save a planet from inevitable doom. I need a Kaladin training arc with Taln and Nale from which he will emerge an absolute menace to the larger Cosmere.

I need it so that when he finally gets his dramatic return in the second arc of Stormlight he will single-handedly turn the tide of the war.

I am Kaladin fanboy trash and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Wind and Truth theory fact. Gavinor did not grow to hate Dalinar for the atrocities he had committed, but rather as a natural consequence of having to watch your grand-uncle tell your dad that he's banging your grandmother 10000 times back-to-back.

I like how Szeth's spren's name, 12124, has the following properties:

1 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 10

1 × 2 × 1 × 2 × 4 = 16

It contains both of the Cosmere's most popular lucky numbers

Wind and Truth Spoilers (Maybe)

Yeah so I’m like… 90% sure Taravangian!Odium is going to elect like- some total innocent as his champion. I don’t remember he or Dalinar imposing any like… restrictions on who could be chosen as a champion. So like… while there’s a chance it’s a powerful Fused, I think a more surefire bet would be something akin to a Singer child. A sickly, frail Singer child. A blind sickly Singer child with no parents. Taravangian listened to Dalinar rant about “journey matching the destination” so many times. It’s uh! Yeah. I’m worried for our man.

Am not right to be loved, thus I fear for a soul that flatters mine. Am not just to be trusted, thus I am scared to trust. Am aiming nowhere, thus scared for someone to get lost with me.

Never noticed how often the word Retribution is used in stormlight, all the way back to WoK.

Makes me wonder about the use of Discord in another series…

he's a horse girl. he's knows everything there is to know about swords and will talk about and to them for hours on end. he has saved the world with the power of friendship on more than one occasion. he once went to jail in solidarity with a friend. he helped create therapy and has no idea. he fought off a kind of immortal guy with a candelabra. he regularly talks to multiple talking swords. he's one of the best, if not actually the best, duelist of his age. he's an amazing tactician and no one talks about that. he's got daddy issues. he thinks about his friends all the time. he makes a conscious effort to learn everyone's name. he respects trans rights. he's a slut trollop at best (worst?). he once investigated a murder he committed. he's an amputee and has a prosthetic foot made out of talking armor. he turned down being a king and is now an advisor(?) of another nation. he has a complicated relationship with the idea of fighting. he fought off 20 men with only his talking sword and horse for help and won. he is so incredibly determined. he loves his wife and her alters very very much. his love for his friends has had a huge effect on the world. I didn't say his name but you hopefully know who i'm talking about.

Kaladin, to Lirin: so I asked about the - yes, I'm alive, stop screaming - so I asked about the whole wisdom of the heralds thing and get this, Palah says there are these tiny invisible creatures - no they're not rotspren, they're way smaller than rotspren, but they are what attracts rotspren. I know right? Mindblowing

Quick Stormlight theory from a conversation with a friend

Quick Stormlight Theory From A Conversation With A Friend

(WaT chapter 29)

This scene finally confirmed that Shallan actually went to Shadesmar physically in WoK, during the scene where she asks to be Jasnah's ward for real. At the time, Shallan explains this as her two spren pulling her into shadesmar, but later, after talking to her mother, Shallan thinks

Quick Stormlight Theory From A Conversation With A Friend

(Wat chapter 118)

The heralds were all Surgebinders on Ashyn. We don't know how Ashyn surgebinding works, but we know that it tended to run in families (see: Shalash and Jezrien, Makibak and Nale). Lots of invested powers in the cosmere are inherited (see: allomancy, ferucmhemy, the royal locks of nalthis, whatever the fuck is happening on Threnody), so it's reasonable to guess that Ashyn surgebinding might've been inherited too. What if Shallan inherited the surge of Transportation from her mother, in the same way that a mistborn might have a misting child? The descriptions of her looking and falling into shadesmar are very similar to descriptions of Venli using Transportation.

If that's the case, then she'd likely have a resonance between Transportation and Lightweaving. That resonance would be something radiants can't normally do, because there is no radiant order with both of those surges. We know from her conversation with Kelek that Shallan's ability to see the Spiritual is not commonly found among radiants

Quick Stormlight Theory From A Conversation With A Friend

(WaT chapter 7) I think that Shallan's ability to see the Spiritual might be a resonance between Lightweaving and Transportation. Lightweaving has a spiritual component (best seen in how Truthwatchers use it), and Transportation is used to see into Shadesmar as well as visit it. The ability to see into (and perhaps even visit) the Spiritual realm seems like a possible resonance for those two abilities, and it would fully explain all the weird unexplained shit we've seen Shallan do if that's the case. It also makes sense that, when Honor was picking the surges to grant his heralds, he'd avoid this particular combination -- Tanavast fears the Spiritual Realm (see the vorin prohibition on future sight, and Stormfather's objection to Dalinar's journey during the final 10 days), so when organizing the Oathpact, he would not have wanted heralds having this resonance.

Crazy post WaT theory: Dalinar’s cognitive shadow is still alive.

When Retribution tried to save and use him, what stopped him was that Dalinar was “claimed by another”. And that he slipped through his fingers. This suggests to me that while Dalinar was connected to both Honor and Odium, there was a third shard he was more connected to.

He previously rejected Odium for Honor in Oathbringer, and at the climax of this book, rejected Honor, favoring growth over adherence to the oaths.

He rejected Honor in favor of Cultivation, and she now has his cognitive shadow.
