There is ONE song I don't like so much in Phantom.
I know I will disappoint some people but it's Music Of The Night.
Don't know why but I don't like this song and I always skips it when I watch Phantom
Here's a potato 🥔
I LOVE YOU !
( well, she did kind of, But we’ll get to that later, I’m also defending poor Erik here.)
so one day I was scrolling through Instagram, and my christine loving heart finds a comment like this,
“Christine is a selfish, little slut. She doesn’t deserve erik. Well, the best men find the worst women i suppose,”
or something like that , I did post about it before I wiped out my account because one, I didn’t enjoy the things I was doing with my account—anyhow, I’m sure you can find the original post on a reblog.
but that comment really did infuriate me. I bet they hate raoul, I just know they do. And no, that’s not the first Christine hater I have encountered— In fact, they’re everywhere on Pinterest, indeed—everywhere!
Oh, and another thing! Why do people hate raoul? Because of Love Never Dies? Even with the sequel, he is an amazing character!
I don’t like what they did with love never dies . . The music is outstanding, but really, the ironic ending is too good to continue , leave that to the fanfiction writers who want a better ending for poor Erik. I’m sure the Phangirls screamed at Webber for having a poor ending for Erik , Even though Gaston Leroux wanted it that way.
(Or...I’m convinced it was made for Brightman, whom divorced Webber, responding to that— Webber made a self insert fanfiction— and made Christine perish.)
But anyways, Christine feared Erik, that’s the thing. Yes, I’m sure christine loved Erik, Erik is supposed to be a sympathetic villain.
But he murders people, manipulated the entire opera house, threaten to take raoul’s life many times in the book, kept her down for two weeks in the book, tied Christine up in the book, made Christine choose between the death of many people of Paris or marriage—must I go on?
Now, I’m more of an E/C shipper myself. But why hate on Raoul and Christine? Why hate on Raoul because of something he couldn’t control? Why hate on Christine becuase she was told to go by the poor man, who she was afraid of and chose Raoul?
Now here’s were i défend Erik.
Erik didn’t know how to love. Erik didn’t know how to do anything but kill. He saw a light and loved her because she was kind and could bring him music, kind of in the mindset— “Well, maybe she could bring me happiness, joy.. something other than agony, that’s what I’ve always wanted ,”
But he was too demanding, scary and angry. (Half of the phandom, including I- ship Erik x Therapy, hell, he made a mannequin in a replica of his crush, I’m scared of what that mannequin has seen.)
Raoul had no control over whom Christine would choose, but he was sweet; a boyish charm and warm. Yes, nobody likes that boy. But he’ll treat you better, would you like a toxic man who has known nothing but pain? Or a warm, kind gentleman who would protect you with his life? Both would die for you, but one is more mentally stable than the other.
Oh, yes. The answer you may choose- the toxic man, so you could “teach him love,” I’m looking at you, wattpad. I am in an anti-raoul club. I can confirm however I want an Anti-Raoul & erik club because they don’t deserve the goddess we call Christine Daae.
Like, let’s be honest, they’re both not good, but the better choice would be raoul, maybe if Erik didn’t do all the not-so-good things I listed in the 9th paragraph of this rant, (I hardly even call these paragraphs, maybe—ninth glob of sentences?)
Okay, the title is kind of clickbait— Christine did do something wrong. But not because she left erik! Because she tore off his mask after he said repeatedly not to!
I do agree why she did it, possibly because she thought it was someone she already knew, (the MazM game explained it perfectly.)
But overall, she didn’t do much wrong, she did what she could, and tried to do something, anything to protect others from erik.
Christine Daaé did not do anything wrong, as neither did Viscount Raoul De Chagny.
(okay that’s a lie, raoul didn’t listen to christine—but that doesn’t make it okay to hate raoul.)
I truly believe that Raoul didn't deserve everything that happened in LND. I mean he is just so gentle with Christine, he is so much in love with her ! He would do anything for her, just to find that his son is the son of The Phantom of the Opera, the man who kills and kidnaps people.
So yeah he made a bad decision by make Christine sing in Don Juan but he couldn't think about Erik killing Piangi and takes his place. I think he just did a mistake, witch is really normal. By the way I think that Christine could trust Raoul in this plan.

Re-watch Phantom was a good thing !
I love Hadley Fraser and Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Bogess ! They are so good together !
I still hate Erik ! Despite all my sister said, that I would like him when I'll re-watch the musical. Ha ! I was right ! Still hate you Erik !
Sill love you Raoul ! And still love you Christine !

I have a question !
In Love Never Dies, the eponime song says :
" Love never dies
Love never falters
Once it has spoken
Love is yours
Love never fades
Love never alters
Hearts may get broken
Love endures "
So WHY does she "fall in love" with Erik !? She was in love with Raoul ! And then when she said that love never dies she just goes with the Phantom ?! The man who just kidnaps her, kills a lot of people, try to kill Raoul and ( spoilers for those who have not read the book ! ) almost destroy the Opera and a district / quarter of Paris !
Why ? I need answers ;-;

So I just finished Phantom ( the book ) and I'm a bit confused...
Erik just wanted to be a normal person, who can go outside without judgement, who can have a wife and live outside. He was just too ugly for that...
He had to hide himself and his genius when he could have been one of the best person of the human race if he had a normal face.
Gaston Leroux think that he deserve pity so why not ? He spoke with people who saw Erik but he yet pray for God to have pity for him...
I think I can't forgive what he have done but I think I can have a little bit of pity...
Still, I'm really feeling strange and maybe I have to have a big reflexion for this !
Sorry for the long post and thanks to read it all !

Unpopular opinion : I don't like Erik.

I have a question !
Am I the only one who noticed that "Look with your heart" from Love Never Dies really looks like "Le Petit Prince" ( a French novel of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry ) ?
In the book, there is this quote ( I'll write it in French and English ) :
In French : "On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux."
In English : "You can only see well with the heart, the essential is invisible to the eyes."
Now the song : "So look with your heart And not with your eyes"
Christine sing this because, to her, you can see well with you heart only.
It's quite similar and I don't know if it's a reference to the novel or not but I like it !
So am I the only one who noticed ?

Okay now I'm talking about real things!
To all the girls ( or boys ) who are like : "I'm soooooo in love with Erik ! I don't care about his face ! After all, he have just half of his face which is disformed ! The other side is handsome.".
...let me tell you something...
Here's Ramin Karimloo as The Phantom of The Opera. He his half disformed and half handsome. Great.
Now let me show you the original Opera Ghost, the one described in the novel of Gaston Leroux.
Ladies and gentlemen, The Phantom of The Opera !
Not the same huh ?
His face is completely disformed and ugly. He literally looks like a skeleton.
Well he his the real one so if you fall in love with Erik, that's your man ! Not the half handsome man ! Because The Phantom is not handsome at all.
And actually he is uglier than the one in the photo.
I'm sorry to the majority who is not concerned ^^"
Sorry for the long post and thanks to read it all !

So I watched Love Never Dies and I liked it ! Let me explain.
The actors, the costumes, some songs ( I think about "The beauty underneath" and "Devil take the hindmost" ) are incredible, charming, so good and all of this !
So yeah the characters are really weird...
Raoul is a bad father, Christine have a son with Erik (?) and I won't speak about the Giry's...
But it can show some interesting things !
For example:
Raoul is a bad father. He never plays with Gustave ( the son of Christine and Raoul think that he is his son but no ) and when Gustave try to play his own music he cut him.
Then we see Erik. He let Gustave plays his music and then he show to him some beautiful things.
So I think the show what to show that Erik, the one who never gets love or kindness, compassion, is a better father than Raoul whot got love and affection!
It's what I think and you probably have to watch the show to make your own point of view.
Sorry for the long post and thanks to read it all !

So..whats your opinion on Count Dracula and The Phantom of the opera basically being the peepaws of slashers who are in the nursing home on life support? "back in MY day---" -Dracula. Probably
Absolutely.
As a lover of Draculas and Phantoms, I can concur.
I think ascended astarion is very Phantom of the Opera coded imo
The way "Masquerade" makes me feel is UNMATCHED. My whole body loves this song.
The scene, the lyrics, THE SOUND.
I love everything about "The Phantom of the Opera".
You alone can make my song take flight…
Help me make the MUSIC of the NIGHT
I'm tired of seeing the word grooming taken out and used all the time by people who probably don't understand its definition.
For the record, Christine was in her twenties, when she met the Phantom / Erik. She was a fucking adult, in a society that for the time considered her a spinster. She never turned 15 or 16 in the original story, as people are so fond of claiming.
Also, Erik is not a villain but an anti-hero character. I'm tired of seeing him constantly demonize, like he's just a bad guy, when he doesn't.
Erik and Christine are basically twisted versions of Beauty and the Beast, Hades and Persephone, and Romeo and Juliet. Without forgetting that they are also, among other things, the incarnation of death and the maiden.
Erik also symbolizes Christine's sexual awakening and coming of age.
Whether you like it or not, they have a romantic and sexual connection in the original text.
