Where your favorite blogs come alive
you ever look back at old photos of yourself and realize you’ve had such a glow up and how absolutely fucking embarrassing you were… then to realize that was only a YEAR AGO — when did time start moving so fast yet so slow? I swear 2020 was yesterday and 15 years ago.
Ok, so I was chilling thinking about some assassin's creed animations I've seen on YouTube, and I remember this ONE animatic where it was like mostly batman. But this animation had like this one familiar character (it's a debate between sonic or Jesse from minecraft story mode Don't judge me!) And they were messing with Batman calling batman, Bruce Wayne and Batman kept accidentally responding and kept telling them it was batman, than (it was either Altair or Ezio i can't for the life of me remember) and he called out and said "Is that Bruce Wayne!" And batman was so done! 🤣
Now, for the life of me, I can't find this video! Like I looked up as best I could in the YouTube search bar - BUT NOTHING!
I tried remembering the artist, and I looked them up, but I can't tell if I'm remembering wrong or if they deleted the video!
Can someone please help me! I am losing brain cells on this! I'm hoping somehow the internet will band together and help me find this video if any traces of it at all exist! Cause I'm starting to think it didn't exist! 🥲
I'm not sure how names worked back then, but since they didn't have surnames I always thought they had to be as creative as possible. I blame the system for giving me 10 versions of myself in my area.
The casting for human centipede must've been like 'have you ever tried performative rimming?'
Fantasizing before you sleep is like reading a bedtime story to your grown ass
Who decided that in every instance where you're counting, the end is 100 (sound volume = 100, math in school = 100, percentages =100), only to be like "nOo! Not time though! Time is 60! 60 seconds, 60 minutes, are all 60"!
Because I hate you, see me after class.
So I had a VERY dark CRK shower thought today - initially it was a spiral about weird cookie flavours and why any self-respecting witch would create those cookies ( no shade to the cookies, just their flavours being weird *cough*beet, prune juice, ice, soda, leek, chilli pepper, ink, etc.*cough* )
But then things took a dark turn.
I got to thinking about cookies made from literally impossible ingredients : Wizard Cookie, Moonlight Cookie, Sea Fairy Cookie, Stardust Cookie, Milky Way Cookie, etc.
Then I noticed that Sea Fairy and Wizard cookie could be made out of magical beings that could exist in this crazy-ass universe. And my morbid, horrible little mind instantly jumped to one (1) conclusion ( and not a very good one ) : they were made out of literal wizards and sea fairies/mermaids. ( are sea fairies the equivalent of mermaids? )
Like my mind just LEAPED to the wild conclusion that the witches had a taste for other magical beings and somehow decided that "hey, why don't we chop up some wizards and sea fairies and bake them into cookies? Yummy!" but then the cookies gained sentience ( maybe from the bits of magical being inside of them ) and escaped.
So yeah. Morbid CRK shower thoughts.
Something I have noticed is that so often in media and in real life, is that we push around this narrative that having a “dark side” or being someone who “you don’t wanna see mad” is a good thing.
If you have a “dark side” you’re dangerous, someone who could hurt others and be cruel, and that makes you strong. That being good in a fight, having the ability to be scary when your angry, those are things that push authority.
I don’t get it.
Why must being benign be seen as a weakness?
Being harmless does not make you fragile.
Violence and strength have been so interwoven to the point people mistake one for the other.
Being violent does not make you strong, and being strong does not mean you have to be violent.
One of the greatest ways to show strength not in a character but in life in general is to choose forgiveness (seriously, like watch ATLA and see how Aang shows great strength by forgiving others instead of lashing out).
Anger is a valid and real emotion that you are allowed to express, but it is not one that should be wielded as a weapon. Anger is a secondary emotion, morphed from pain and sorrow.
Anger is like fire. It’s okay to light a fire, as long as it is safe and contained. You can keep a fire in a fire pit going for as long as you want, just don’t burn a forest.
Do not fear your anger and do not use it to strike fear in others. Being kind does not make you weak, being forgiving does not make you soft.
Generosity, honesty, fragility with your emotions—these can bring you strength. To be open with who you are and how you feel is a tremendous feat.
It takes courage to cry, to ask for help, to forgive.
Know that being loving is not a weakness, understand that forgiveness takes strength.
It’s easy to kill a fly, but it takes effort to capture it and bring it home.
Person A : Do you ever just look at people and wonder 'Wow that's the brand of dumb I was a while ago.'
Person B : Because now you have leveled up from it ?
Person A : *nods fervently*
Person C : That's literally not how progress works.
Alright, this is something that has been on my mind for a while and I finally have the balls to write it down and make sure everyone can see it. This post is biased, and extremely emotional, as I am writing about my personal feelings on this subject. If there is any lack of clarification or incorrect use of a word/description, I will do my best to correct it.
So. I am a long time lurker on popular fan sites and platforms. So I have seen many of the nitty gritty, the truly toxic and beautiful, and utter sadism that people are capable of creating when it comes to characters we take a liking to. But the more recent stuff has really gotten under my skin, and I wanted to talk about it.
This has to do with two characters that have become extremely popular this year. Miguel O’Hara from Across the Spider-verse and Simon “Ghost” Riley from Call of Duty. I’ve seen depraved things happen when people like characters. I like these two for similar reasons. I find them attractive. Their stories are captivating. And the movie and game they take place in are some of my favorites. But the things I have seen being written about these two specifically make me very nauseous.
Both of these characters have become extremely popular on fan sites because of how sexually appealing they are. They are tall, muscular-built men with dark backstories and darker attitudes. And what infuriates me is the amount of sexual objectification is happening to them. Yes, they are fictional characters. Yes, they don’t exist. Therefore no harm is being done. Wrong.
I have been writing fan fiction for a long time, only a fraction of it actually posted publicly. And the thing about fan fiction that I take extreme pride in is the art of characterization. You are creating a story about a character that is not yours. They already existed, have their own lore and role within their story. So when one is writing fan fiction, I think its incredibly important to pay attention to the specific lore of the character. This helps you build on who they are and flesh them out as people. How would they react in this situation? What foods/drink do they like? What face would they make if you said this? What would they do if this specific thing happened to them? These are important questions you should know the answer to when writing your own material for any given character.
Yes, AUs exist for this reason, so that subversion of a character can take place to satisfy those that fantasize about a character that canonically would not play into their interests. That still still does not excuse some of the utter disrespect I have seen.
For the two specific characters above, I will summarize their VERY similar backstories. Both were heavily abused in their childhoods (by their fathers). Both have taken on an “anti-hero” role with a grisly attitude to accomplish good things, aka protecting the public/people they care about. Ghost was sexually assaulted, tortured, buried alive, and witnessed a close friend/colleague try to assault someone. Miguel was used and abused by his own company, leading to his abilities and hatred of his role as Spider-Man 2099. Horrible atrocities were committed to these men. And yet, I have seen nonstop fan fictions portraying these men as violent, perverted, sex-driven monsters for the satisfaction of readers. I think this is an affront to the very idea of fan fiction and an insult to these characters.
So with that said, I think it is absolutely disgusting how people have been writing the two characters above. And that is only the start of the problem. The over sexualization of male characters in media. For a long time, its was always female characters. People have spoken about the over-sexualization of women in media for years. And now with the internet at its height, male sexualization has also become extremely prominent, and yet I don’t see people raising enough concern about. Women have tried so hard to push back on male-centered media in order to protect themselves, with advertisements, games, movies, and entertainment media with female characters. The cliché roles of damsel-in-distress or female-warrior-love-interest to male main characters are still extremely prevalent.
And yet, it horrifies me that many women (and people in general) are now taking a lead in the sexualization of male characters in the near exact same way that men do. Only difference forms. Men sexualization through art: games, movies, p*rn, etc. Women do it through our own art, and especially writing. Now, I am not saying that there is anything wrong with writing smut and p*rn. The horror lies in the characters being portrayed and the acts they are committing. Between these two characters, I have seen more violent smut fan fiction than I have seen actual love for the characters themselves. I have lurked through the fandoms centered around these two characters since they first started gaining popularity, and it disgusts me how many writers portray them.
This isn’t even the main issue. The biggest issue has to be how this is still pushing toxic male fantasy. R*pe. Sexual violence. Sexual abuse. Verbal abuse. Mental and emotional abuse. Non-consensual acts. The romanticization of sexual violence and depravity. The amount of viral videos I have seen of men openly displaying their belief that women enjoy stalking, sexual harassment/assault, and sexual abuse, and all because there is media of it being portrayed that way. P*rn has portrayed women as sexual objects for men for years, giving men the idea that any and every woman in the world would enjoy being a victim of these acts. And now, writers are doing the same thing here. They are portraying women/people being abused by these characters, and enjoying every second of it. This is not healthy. It is sickening. (This also applies to everyone, not just those who do not identify as female. Anyone is capable of being a victim of abuse).
This is a horrible double standard that has been created by people: That sexual harassment is bad when committed by someone we are not attracted to, BUT okay when committed by someone we are attracted by. STOP. Right now. Sexual harassment/abuse is bad no matter who commits it. And flirting does not equal harassment. Flirting is an open, two-way communication between two consenting people. Harassment is the continuous disregard for someone’s personal space/preferences through sexual/verbal/physical actions that the victim does not reciprocate.
Let me clarify that I am not shaming anyone for their personal sexual preferences and kinks. BDSM is not abuse when it is between two consenting adults. Violence-play is not abuse between two consensual adults. But when the media about certain characters is specifically tailored to indicate that such acts are everyone’s fantasy, it is not okay. What pisses me off is that it is always fit to characters who would most likely never agree to such things. Continuously portraying toxic, manipulative, and abusive behaviors as romantic and normal is extremely unhealthy and can warp the way people view healthy relationships.
After researching the background of Miguel and Ghost, I am one thousand percent sure that these two characters are not/would never do what they are portrayed as in these writings. Both men experienced horrible abuse, and are shown to strive to be better than the ones who abused them. I, for one, believe they would be the exact opposite as they are portrayed sexually. They would not be violent verbally or physically. They would not be abusive in any capacity. There could/would be toxic and manipulative tendencies that come from growing up in an abusive and stressful environment. But when one goes through such things, they are the opposite of this when they acknowledge their wish to be better. Both characters would most likely fear committed relationships, out of the fear that they could turn into the people who hurt them and hurt the ones they love. The fear of losing everything they care about all over again (both lost their families in tragic ways). PTSD would shape the way they interact with people, especially significant others.
I can vouch for this characterization on a personal level. The beauty of writing characters is being able to take their lore and apply it to real human qualities and experiences. I often use my own in my writing. My personal experiences with abuse and harassment are what drive me to write this post and speak out on this surge of romanticized violence, as well as for these characters. People who have survived these experiences and who strive to better themselves often acknowledge that it was not these experiences that define them. It is who we choose to become afterwards, and how much we allow it to affect us. While Miguel and Ghost are people who will continue to be haunted by their pasts, they strive to be better in their own ways, even if not everyone agrees. And the over-sexualization and violent portrayal of their characters in many fictions completely contradicts their canonical characters.
I am not putting creators who have done this on blast. I just urge many of you writers/artists to think about what it is you are creating and who you are portraying. Is your content curated by your audience? Is it curated specifically for you? Or is it for the character you are writing about? Maybe its everything and more. I just want you to be aware of what you are writing and how it may affect others as well as the characterization of said character.
I feel as if I’ve only scratched the surface with vague explanations. So if anyone who sees this feels the same, and wants to add or feels like I missed something, please do. This needs to be talked about more.

So my friend (who's a big nerd) walked in on me fangirling about TMNT and commented on how he didn't really like the series because the character development sucked. Of course I argued back but none of what I was saying was making any sense to him, so finally I attempted to put my insight into a perspective that he would understand.
As I see it the family of turtles (and their rat dad/sensei) are similar to aspects of the earth. Imagine that earth itself is New York City and the sun is the Foot Clan, each member of the family is an unseen force connecting to the earth.
Leo is the magnetic field surrounding the planet and keeping everything in place. He could also be gravity because he keeps the team grounded and in place even when they try to break and or test the boundaries. His family expects him to always do his job and they rely on him to lead them, but sometimes he finally starts to feel the strain of keeping everyone together and considers giving up. However he continues his efforts because that's what he's supposed to do, so he puts his problems aside and does what he needs to do for his family.
Raph is solar flares sent from the sun because some people who aren't familiar with the film think he's going to turn and go rogue (which he kinda does in 2007), but also because his opinion is contradictory to the other family member's. He also clashes with Leo (the magnetic field) who keeps him from causing destruction, and although his take on things are normally considered dangerous or extreme, after passing through his brother's rage his words come out as something beautiful that people treasure if they take the time to appreciate it (in other words it becomes the Aurora Borealis). Plus he tends to remind the team that there's a whole other point of view of which to view things from, constantly giving the team a reality check.
Donnie is the atmosphere, giving people the air they need to breathe easy and also evolving the species according to the environment. He may not always be viewed as a very important piece of the team but he is an essential aspect of their success. His inventions make it possible to get things done and are why they didn't die jumping off a plane. He is prepared for anything and never hesitates to do what he needs to do to help his family.
Mikey is the weather, giving everyone what they need to keep moving. When the team is in a heated argument he's the clouds attempting to cool the mood, when they feel like giving up and quitting he's the e rain giving them the small push to keep moving on and growing. People see him as annoying and assume he's just getting in the way when in reality his 'unnecessary humor' is just him trying to lighten the mood and cheer everyone up as well as cheering them on.
Then Splinter is the core of the earth, keeping the planet, and it's elements, under his good influence and keeping everything running smoothly.
All in all I think I did a pretty good job, although my friend is now concerned with how much time I'm spending on anything related to the fandom. 😂
I need y’all Star Wars lover’s opinion on something.

So, my dad's been watching Asokha, and while I want watch it, I need to rewatch Rebels first. However, I have come to the realization that when they were making Chopper, I feel like they wanted to make him like R2 but more polite, but instead of politeness, they added a touch of teenage girl-ness
And it only makes me love him more

A random idea/fanfiction by me.

Because like, imagine, will you, that Dazai goes to the bank on his day off after payday, possibly looking to get some new bandages, and who should he come across but Chuuya, who is there to take out some money from a totally legitimate Port Mafia account. They'd probably bicker for a minute, Dazai would find at least three ways to insult the mafioso, who would then shout back at him, only to have everyone else in the bank shoot them strange looks, so he then resorts to whisper shouting. Until suddenly, the doors burst open, and in rushes five men with guns blazing, their faces obscured by masks. "This is a hold up!" they declare. Three of them usher all the bankgoers to one wall, forcing them to sit down quietly. And of course, if any of them try to call the police, they'd really get it. The other two deal with the clerks, getting them to open the vault, and no one gets hurt.
Meanwhile, Dazai and Chuuya are watching this play out with mild amusement. After one of them sticks a gun in Dazai's face and tells them to move it, they share a shrug and walk to the wall, plopping down criss-cross applesauce. The patrons are shaking. Some of them are crying, some are praying. Dazai folds his arms behind his head and leans back against the wall, suppressing the urge to yawn. Chuuya takes the opportunity to munch on a granola bar and observe the robbery with vague interest.
With his eyes closed, Dazai asks... "so...are you going to stop them, or...?"
"Nah," Chuuya answers between bites. "I haven't eaten much all day, so..." He turns to Dazai. "What about you? Aren't you the detective here?"
"Yeah, but it's my day off now. I don't want to work."
"Yeah, yeah, definitely know the feeling."
"Hey, you two!" shouts one of the thieves watching the hostages. "Be quiet!"
"Sorry." Neither of them sound particularly apologetic. They sit for a few more minutes. Dazai yawns and stretches. Chuuya finishes his granola bar. Nothing changes.
"What's taking them so long?" Chuuya mutters. He's starting to get annoyed. "Some of us have things to do, you know."
"This is actually really pathetic," comments Dazai. "We could have gotten double the money and been halfway back to the base by now, gone before the police even knew there was a threat."
"And we'd never do it like this," agrees the mafioso. "This is too loud, and it's got no class."
"Right? It's like begging for the police to come. And besides, this whole hostage situation is thin as paper. If they really wanted to intimidate people, they should have shot someone by now, prove they're serious."
"Those guns probably aren't even loaded."
"Honestly, this whole set up is awful. Truly amateurish."
"This whole thing would be much smoother if we did it. Maybe we should help them, just so they can get their money and leave the rest of us alone."
"That-"
"Hey!" shouts the same guard again. He points at Dazai, then at Chuuya. "What did I say about talking?! If you don't shut up-"
"No, you're doing it wrong," Dazai informs him.
"I...what?"
"If you really wanted to intimidate us, you should have fired off a warning shot, at the very least. Even if you're too coward to actually shoot a person, at least don't make it so obvious the thing's not even loaded."
Beads of sweat drip down the thief's face. "Huh?"
"And could you tell your friends there to hurry up?" adds Chuuya. "They're going to be caught at this rate. Obviously, the clerks are stalling. They're probably sticking in the lowest bills they have to give the bags some weight. It would be way more efficient to have one guy guarding the clerks and two of you doing it yourself."
"Just figure out the accounts with the most in them and take from there," Dazai suggests, standing up. "You'll get more and faster like that."
Chuuya rises as well. Now, the other two thieves who were supposed to be guarding the hostages come to back up their friend, pointing their guns directly at their heads. Dazai frowns.
"Hold on a second, can I see that? Thanks." He reaches out and grabs the nearest thief's gun, and before he even has a chance to protest, he opens up the magazine and shakes it.
"See? Empty. Would it really have been so hard to even find one bullet to put in there?"
From behind their masks, the burglars begin to panic. The public, now aware they're being held up by nothing, stand up angrily.
"And look!" Chuuya strides over behind the counter, where the clerks are supposed to be filling up bags with money. He takes one out of a male's clerk's hand and dumps it out on the floor. "All 1,000 yen bills. If you had just paid more attention, you could have made off with much more. And, now the police are coming."
Indeed, the sound of wailing sirens gets louder and louder. The thieves glance at each other. With a single nod, they turn on their heels and run.
"Not so fast!" All of the former hostages block the door. The thieves freeze, turning to Dazai fearfully. He shrugs.
"That's what happens when you don't back-up your claims. This is due to your own stupidity."
The public manages to easily restrain the thieves until the police arrive to take them away. As they're being dragged out, Dazai and Chuuya merely watch with their arms folded, shaking their heads and muttering to themselves.
"Disgraceful."
"What a sloppy job."
"Embarrassment to all criminals, really."
"Can't believe I had my time wasted with this crud."
"Hopefully, they'll do better next time."
"Yeah. If you're going to hold up a bank, at least do it well."
After the thieves are taken away, the police ask Dazai and Chuuya about what happened, since everyone says that they're the ones who stopped them. They answer with vague statements that amount to nothing, and leave the bank before they have to get more involved.
Neither of them speak much, each caught up in his own memories from the past. Eventually, Dazai decides to head back to his apartment, though not without giving one good jarb on Chuuya's height. In the end of the day, he supposed he did stop them. Well, as long as it didn't have to count as work-
The next day, both Chuuya and Dazai were required to make a report on the matter.
End.
