Ace eating the Mera Mera No Mi!!

One of my proudest animations to date. Base of the art is Boichi's rendition of Ace's Story Manga (part 1) because I do very much like to trace the first frame to make sure my animation doesn't end up looking horrible :P

I fi may request a dad!Ace x mom!reader where they teach their kid to punch bad guys using a marine or enemy pirate. Ace, in complete shock, yells like, "Why would you do that?" but the reader points out 'its better to start early,' and references his childhood, much to his annoyance. This video/clips of a character from Zenless Zeno Trifger, where she lets a kid punch someone while she's so proud, made me giggle so much, and I need this to happen.

I Fi May Request A Dad!Ace X Mom!reader Where They Teach Their Kid To Punch Bad Guys Using A Marine Or

Ace x Fem! reader Teaching Their Child Young

ACCEPTING REQUEST

Au but the only different is that Akainu's dead. This is a world were ace LIVES FOREVER

Ace, while nervous, loved the chance to be a dad. He respected Gold D Roger as the king of the pirates, but we saw in his backstory that he hated him as his dad. His relationship with his father was very lacking. The only thing his dad left him was the stigma of his blood. This is something Ace had to grow up with. While he was fending for himself, he also had to tackle the impact of Gold D. Roger. This led Ace to become a pirate and fight against what society said about him. It's also what led him to find a family with Pops and the white-beard pirates. Whitebeard wasn't a name that brought shame to his existence. He provided a family and support system outside of Luffy and (as far as he was aware) the deceased Sabo. It probably combated a lot of loneliness Ace didn't realize he felt. Pops probably became a genuine father figure. (highkey and unnecessary trauma dump rn, but I am so jealous of Ace bc I wish my dad was not present and despite my need for independence I still oddly crave a father figure despite how I push them away) That's where a lot of his healing came from. He learned to embrace who he was and live as Fire Fist Ace, Division Commander of the White Beard Pirates. Not the damned Gold D Rogers bastard son. His sense of self and individuality. But he had a chance to maybe make up for it. With the woman he loved. When you got pregnant, he saw another future. One where he could do right by being present. Of course, there's the fear of what his child may think of him as a pirate. But it wasn't going to stop the baby on the way. Ace would provide a life for you and your baby. He would also be very attentive during pregnancy, given how his mother passed. And you had a baby girl, he was outnumbered by you. She's as rambunctious as her father. The toddler phase brought out the will of D. His baby could never hate him, but she could turn into him. Dealing with himself is something Ace was not prepared for. Especially as he walked onto the deck of the moby dick to see his darling girls and … some pirates. "What?" he stood there stunned before walking over to get a better look "What are you doing with our daughter?" You smiled up at him, holding a raggedy and bruised pirate in a full Nelson "ya know, just teaching her young" Right in front of you was your little girl. Dark hair in a ponytail and band-aids on her knuckles. "Look Dad I knocked out his tooth," she said holding the tooth up in her little hand. "That can't count honey, I think it was loose" you teased at her. Ace sighed, picking up his little girl and grabbing the tooth out of her hand. "I don't think she needs to be learning this so young" Tossing the tooth away and looking over at you. "Garp taught you young; you turned out just fine." He opened his mouth and closed it, squeezing his daughter closer to his chest, holding her desperately, scared of the idea of her growing up. "That old bag just wanted me to be a marine." "Yeah, and well, he left you with mountain bandits." At that, he chuckled, looking between you and your child. "Maybe we should visit Grandpa soon?"

 That's The Stuff Right There 😏 😏

Firework show. (NSFW!) Ace x Oc/Y/n

I made this semi my oc bc my oc has like fire and firework powers but I wanted this to be enjoyable for others that wanna roleplay as my oc.

Firework Show. (NSFW!) Ace X Oc/Y/n
Firework Show. (NSFW!) Ace X Oc/Y/n

Ace's breath hitched, a phantom sting lingering where the vibrant, almost playful, flames had kissed his skin. He flexed his singed fingers, the faint scent of burnt sugar and sulfur a stark contrast to the usual salty tang of the sea air. The memory of your heat, the way it bloomed and pulsed, replaced the phantom pain with a different, more potent kind of warmth.

The remnants of your power, a swirling, vibrant echo of fireworks and wildfire, still danced on his tongue, a taste he couldn't quite place. It was a delicious, dangerous burn, a reminder of the raw, untamed energy that pulsed within you. He remembered the way your body had arched, the soft gasps that turned into sharp, almost feral cries as his touch ignited your own internal inferno.

Now, standing on the deck of the Moby Dick, the curious gazes of his crewmates bore into him. "Ace, what happened to your fingers?" Thatch asked, his voice laced with concern. Marco chimed in, having seen the burns closer. "Yeah… You look like you burned them."

He froze, the question echoing the raw intensity of the previous night. The image of you, a swirling vortex of fire and light, overwhelmed his senses. His mind raced, searching for a plausible explanation, but all he could conjure were vivid flashes of your skin flushed with heat, the way your flames had danced around his touch, the way his tongue had traced the delicate lines of your form as you erupted in a blaze of your own making.

He swallowed, the phantom sting of your fire now a burning blush creeping up his neck. The words caught in his throat, a mix of desire and the sheer absurdity of trying to explain the consequences of your shared inferno. How could he possibly articulate the way your power, untamed and wild, had turned his own touch into a brand, a mark of your shared, fiery passion? Just when he thought it couldn't get any worse… You walked onto the deck, your gaze falling on the three of them.

Ace cleared his throat nervously, his eyes darting towards the floor as he fiddled with his now burnt but healing fingers. It wasn't his fault you were so easy to… flare up. You had similar powers to Ace, but without a Devil Fruit, your abilities manifesting as fire or fireworks. Usually, when intense emotions like pleasure, sadness, anger, or envy took hold, you became… fiery. So, during their intimate moment, you unintentionally burnt his three fingers and tongue. Thankfully, neither of you were harmed by the fire itself, but physical damage was still a possibility. If they could see his tongue, they would surely notice its abnormally vibrant red hue.

"Ah…uh…" he stuttered, scratching the back of his head, the blush on his face deepening. He glanced at Thatch and Marco, who were still eyeing his burnt fingers with concern. The corner of his mouth twitched into a sheepish, forced smile. "Well…you know how it is, right? I'm always clumsy..." he said, hoping his nonchalance would diffuse the situation.

But your presence only heightened his embarrassment. He could still vividly recall the taste of you, the sound of your moans against his lips. It was impossible to ignore the pull towards you, the way his heart raced whenever you were near.

"Just…got careless with some fireworks last night," he lied smoothly, averting his gaze from your knowing expression. The lie rolled off his tongue effortlessly, years of pirate life honing the skill. "Nothing to worry about," he assured, holding up his hand with a casual wave.

Inside, though, he felt anything but casual. He craved another taste of your fire, the rush of adrenaline as your flames danced around him. And there you were, a living embodiment of everything he desired and feared. The urge to reach out, to pull you close, to apologize for the burns was strong, but he held back. For now, he'd let the secret simmer between them.

Marco and Thatch looked confused. They weren't aware Ace had fireworks, but… Ace was always reckless. And they had indeed heard some sort of fireworks last night. However, Thatch wasn't buying Ace's story easily, his eyes finding yours and giving you a skeptical look. Marco was thinking the same thing but didn't want to jump to any conclusions, knowing it would fluster you both and probably make both of you go on fire. Again. Marco raised a doubtful eyebrow. "With three fingers and your tongue? Sounds a bit… specific."

A shiver went down Ace's spine as he remembered the way his tongue had swirled and dipped, the way your moans had grown louder, more desperate. Your fingers had gripped his hair, your nails digging into his scalp as the intensity built. Then, a sudden, sharp burst of heat, and a searing pain had shot through his fingers and across his tongue, the taste of you replaced by the acrid tang of burnt flesh. He'd pulled back, his eyes wide with a mixture of surprise and concern, but you'd only gasped, your body still trembling with the aftershocks of your release. He began to think about the way your breath had hitched, soft whimpers escaping your lips as his fingers slipped inside you, the friction building the heat within you. Your flames, usually contained, began to flicker and dance along your skin, a visual representation of the rising pleasure. He'd dipped his head, his tongue tracing the delicate folds of your core, and your fire had erupted, a wave of heat washing over him. The taste of you, a blend of sweetness and sulfur, had filled his senses as your body convulsed around him, your internal fire igniting his own... Oh and when you came? When you came... It felt like fireworks popping and sizzling on his tongue your sweet juices flowing onto his tongue like fire... He knows it's bad for him. But you know Ace loved it as much as you did in the heat of the moment.

"I swear it's nothing, Marco... I'm fine. I just... Got a little carried away with something-"

"Something or someone?" you replied, finally breaking your silence. Ace's eyes widened in shock… He knew how bold you were, but fuckkk—you were driving him insane. That playful look in your eyes and that teasing little smirk on your face… Thatch and Marco's eyes darted between you and Ace. It didn't take long to put the pieces together. Oh but when you put two and two together what do you get? A very hot mess.

Looks like Ace was playing with fire. Literally.

Now, why you gotta be so sweet to me 🧸

Now, Why You Gotta Be So Sweet To Me 🧸

𝜗𝜚⠀ㅤ⏖ 𓊆ྀི DRESSED UP 𓊇ྀི

❛ trying on a dress in front of the second division commander of your crew made him flurry exactly the way you wanted. ❜

⠀ㅤ⠀ㅤ💭 𓂃 pairing : 𝓐ce x 𝓡eader ㅤ───ㅤㅤcw 𝄞 fluff. ace is pretty much taken by you. reader is kind of flirtatious & very feminine. mutual pining but are unaware of it.

𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓮𝓼 ૮ ྀི◞ ⸝⸝ ◟ ྀིა .ᐟ just something i whipped up last night! i am truly head over heels for this man, he is so scrumptious <3

𝜗𝜚⠀ㅤ⏖ 𓊆ྀི DRESSED UP 𓊇ྀི

you strolled around the town your crew had docked at the night before, ace following close behind. you had found out that this town was well known for the cute and pretty garments that they designed — specifically specialising in lacy and elegant dresses which was exactly your style! finding such apparel was hard to come by within the grand line but you've always adored dressing up ever since you were a little girl, and that remained true to this day. so you did your best to alter your clothes to your liking — adding ribbons and bows, adding lace wherever you could, adding florals and hearts. thankfully, whitebeard let you splurge and indulge in your fashion, as long as they remained practical for whenever combat arose.

the two of you had been wandering around for a few minutes, your eyes shimmering with mirth with every store you passed by. ace couldn't help the amity that effloresced within his chest as he saw the pure delight that was emanating from your face. he quite adored how much you loved shopping for clothes and the care and thought you put into every single outfit you adorned. there was never a day where you didn't look absolutely breathtaking. right from the way you styled your hair to the accessories you bore — you always looked so gorgeous.

you finally stopped by in front of a shop that had flowers and vines dangling from its sign and they were displaying the most feminine and dainty pieces ace had ever seen. he did admit that he did very much like what he was seeing but he felt rather out of place to be walking into a shop like this — he could only see women inside as they ambled across the aisles and picked out clothes off the racks. he worried that him being there would make them feel weary. but before he could even voice his concerns to you, you were already dragging him inside.

after a good few minutes of you rummaging around the shop, you had acquired a mountain full of clothes that you wanted to try on. you were in one of the changing rooms as ace stood outside, holding on to each of the garments you had selected. almost an hour had passed by and you were now trying on the last piece you had left. you had apologised earlier for taking so much time but truthfully, ace wasn't really complaining. it just meant he got to spend time with you, and he wouldn't ever pass up such an opportunity.

"ace?", you trilled from within the changing room.

"yeah?", he replied. "is something wrong?"

"nope, i just want your opinion on this dress. i'm not sure if this really complements my skin tone or not. so do you mind if i show it to you?"

he could feel his heart thumping madly against his chest at your request. for a moment, he simply stayed silent, his mind racing with thoughts of you modelling the dresses for him. a rosy pink dusted his cheeks as the images of you donning the previous pretty pieces flitted through his head. when he heard you call out his name though, he quickly shook his head in an attempt to clear away the images he had conjured of you which he felt rather guilty for now.

"are you sure i'm the right one to ask? maybe i could call—"

you cut him off by saying meekly, "no. i want your opinion."

ace's cheeks turned a darker shade of pink as he held his hands to his chest, trying to compose himself and slow down his beating heart. he took in a deep breath and said, "alright, go ahead and show me."

you pulled open the curtain and the second he laid his eyes on you, he could feel himself turn to mush. you were wearing a lavish, yellow dress that was embellished with pearls and white gems all around, and frills all along the bottom. you were fiddling with the sleeves as you looked down bashfully. "so, what do you think?", you asked softly. "how does it look?"

where was he even meant to begin? you looked truly stunning in it. he swore he hadn't ever seen a woman as beautiful as you. you looked heavenly, angelic, lovely—

"yeah it's very nice," was all he could bring himself to say. he wanted the ground to swallow him whole at how daffy he felt in this moment. there was so much more he wanted to say to you and all he could say was 'nice'? that word was not nearly enough to encompass how ethereal you looked.

"aw, just nice?", you asked dolefully. your lips had turned into a small pout, your doe eyes looking up at him — the ones that tugged at his heartstrings sweetly yet fiercely.

"well no!", he rebutted instantly. "it's not just nice. i mean, the colour is pretty. it suits you. and the frills are a cute touch."

he continued to ramble on, complimenting every aspect of the dress. his flushed face and flustered demeanour amused you — one of the most dangerous and most powerful pirates the world had seen and yet here he was, struggling to even form coherent sentences in front of you. you found it so adorable that you could rile him up so easily and that this was a sight only you had the luxury of witnessing. you didn't want anybody else to see him like this nor ever wanted anybody else to make him feel this way aside from you.

an impish smile tugged at your lips as you thought of another way to flurry the man even more. you took a step closer towards him and you gestured for him to lean forward towards you. he did as you said, his gaze flickering over your entire body, the blush now tinging his neck and ears. you cupped a hand over his ear as you whispered in a honeyed tone, "did you want to see me in something sexier?"

his entire body froze at your words, his hands balling into tight fists underneath the clothes he held. his breathing quickened and he feared his knees would buckle any second, sending him toppling over you. he did his best to keep himself upright and to stop the indecent thoughts that dared to infiltrate his mind. that proved to be a much more difficult challenge than he had anticipated.

"w-what? no, i-," he sputtered, feeling more abashed than ever. he scrambled to find words but he failed to do so.

you giggled at his behaviour, finding him more charming than ever before. "i'm just playing with you. i think i'm going to get this. i think you like it too, right?". all he could do was nod in agreement before shutting the curtain hastily.

messing around with him like this filled you with a gaiety that you couldn't find elsewhere. you knew that the handsome and charismatic dark-haired man had feelings for you, and it would be a lie to say that you didn't feel the same. you were just waiting for the day for him to profess his feelings to come around. until then, this form of coquetry towards him would have to suffice, hoping soon enough that he would catch on to your antics.

pairing- MODERN AU! Portgas D. Ace x fem! Reader word count- 4.5k genre- Pure fluff. synopsis- You meet up with your long distance boyfriend Ace during your winter break, little did you know that your date would turn out into a family meeting. note- THERE GOT TO BE AT LEAST ONE UNIVERSE WHERE ACE HAS A HAPPY FAMILY AND THIS IS GOING TO BE IT. Been thinking of this the whole week. Hope y'all like it. It is a little short but yeah :(

The night is hushed, blanketed in a thick layer of snow that glows faintly under the soft silver light of the moon. Snowflakes drift lazily from the sky, catching the glow of distant streetlights, twinkling like tiny stars before settling onto the untouched ground. The air is crisp, carrying a quiet stillness, broken only by the muffled crunch of footsteps pressing into the fresh snow.

Ace walks beside you, his gloved fingers laced through yours, radiating warmth even through the layers. Every now and then, he squeezes your hand, a silent reassurance, a quiet promise. His dark coat is dusted with specks of white, his hair kissed by the falling snow. He glances at you with a small, knowing smile, one that makes your chest tighten in the best way.

You lean into him, your shoulder brushing his as you walk, your movements slow and unhurried. There’s nowhere to be, no rush to escape the cold. The night belongs to you both—the snow-covered streets, the frost-laced trees, the soft crunch of your footsteps in the stillness. It’s peaceful, almost dreamlike, and with Ace beside you, it feels like the kind of moment you wish you could freeze in time.

He tugs you closer, his voice a gentle murmur against the quiet. “You warm enough?” You nod, smiling up at him. “Yeah. You?”

Ace smirks, nudging you playfully. “I’ve got you, don’t I?” giggling you hit him playfully. “Always got something snickering to say, don’t you?” he laughs, his arm now wrapped around your shoulder and keeping you close to himself.

As you walk, your free hand clutches a bouquet of hibiscus flowers, their vibrant petals a striking contrast against the snowy night. The blossoms are slightly chilled from the air, their fragrance faint but lingering—a reminder of the moment Ace had given them to you earlier, when you first saw him again after months apart.

You had spent the last few months oceans away, buried in textbooks and lectures, surrounded by new faces in a city that never quite felt like home. Studying abroad had been a dream—an opportunity you couldn’t pass up—but even in the excitement of it all, there had always been a quiet ache, a longing that settled deep in your chest every time you looked out over unfamiliar streets and realized he wasn’t there.

Late-night study sessions, early morning walks to class, the rush of learning something new—all of it had been fulfilling in its own way. But still, there were moments when you caught yourself staring at your phone, scrolling through old messages, rereading conversations just to hear his voice in your mind. Time zones had been a cruel barrier, turning simple phone calls into carefully planned moments stolen from sleep. Sometimes, you'd wake up to a text from him, something short and teasing, something that made you smile even on the hardest days.

"Don’t forget me while you’re off becoming a genius."

As if you ever could.

Ace notices you glance down at the bouquet, and he smirks, nudging your side. "You still like 'em, right? Or should I have gone with something more dramatic?" You roll your eyes, smiling as you hold the flowers closer. "No, Ace. They're perfect."

His smirk barely visible under the dim glow of the streetlights. “You’re quiet,” he muses, giving your hand a small squeeze. “Not regretting coming back already, are you?”

You roll your eyes, nudging his arm playfully. “Not even close.”

Up ahead, a warm glow spills onto the street from a small, tucked-away bar, its golden light flickering through frosted windows. A neon sign hums faintly above the entrance, casting a soft, inviting glow onto the snow-covered sidewalk. The muffled sounds of laughter and music seep through the walls, a stark contrast to the peaceful stillness outside.

As Ace pushes open the heavy wooden door, a wave of warmth washes over you, melting away the cold that had settled into your bones. The scent of aged wood, whiskey, and something faintly sweet fills the air, wrapping around you like a familiar embrace. The soft hum of conversation mingles with the low strum of a guitar playing in the corner, the sound rich and soothing against the quiet crackle of a fireplace tucked near the back of the room. The bar is small, intimate, the kind of place that feels like a well-kept secret.

As you and Ace weave through the bar, searching for a table, his fingers tighten around yours, halting you mid-step. You glance up at him, confused, only to see his brows furrowed slightly, his mouth parting as if he’s just seen a ghost.

Then, in a tone that’s caught somewhere between disbelief and exasperation, he blurts out, “Mom? Dad? You two here?”

Your head snaps in the direction he’s staring, and sure enough, there they are—Rouge and Roger, comfortably seated at a corner table like they own the place.

Rouge has a delicate glass of wine in hand, looking effortlessly elegant as always, her eyes widening slightly in pleasant surprise. Roger, on the other hand, is mid-sip of his drink—until he hears Ace’s voice. He nearly chokes, coughing into his fist before setting the glass down with a loud thunk. His eyes gleam with unmistakable amusement as he grins.

“Well, if it isn’t my prodigal son!” Roger declares dramatically, throwing his arms out like Ace just walked in on his own surprise party. “Didn’t expect to see you here! What a coincidence.”

Ace squints at him, then at Rouge, then back again at his dad. “Coincidence my ass,” he mutters under his breath. You elbow him lightly in the ribs, shooting him a pointed look. "Don’t be rude!" you whisper, though you’re already fighting the urge to laugh.

Ace sighs, rubbing the back of his neck, but you don’t give him a chance to argue. Instead, you turn to Rouge and Roger with an easy smile. “It’s really nice to see you both again. How have you been?”

Rouge beams at you. “Oh, sweetheart, it’s so good to see you again. How was your travel? Did Ace pick you up on time, or was he late?”

Ace glares. “I was exactly on time.” Roger raises an eyebrow. “Yeah? By your definition or ours?” You snicker, and Ace groans.

Roger waves him off. “C’mon, join us! Unless you’re too cool to have a drink with your old man Ace?” Ace groans louder but doesn’t move, and you can see the internal war playing out in his head. You nudge him playfully. “What’s the matter, Ace?” you’re looking at him as if you’re warning him for his next move.

His eyes narrow at you, then flick toward his father, whose smirk is way too smug, and then at Rouge, who just looks delighted by the whole situation. He sighs, long and suffering.

“…Fine,” he grumbles, already pulling a chair out for you.

As Ace helps you out of your coat, his hands gently guiding you through the process, you glance around, noticing the cozy warmth of the bar settling in as the fire crackles softly nearby. He drapes your coat over the back of the chair with a soft pat, and you let out a relieved sigh at the warmth inside.

Just as you reach down to place the bouquet of hibiscus flowers on the table, your fingers brush against the smooth wood, and that's when you notice something—a smaller bouquet of hibiscus sitting in a delicate glass vase at the center of the table. It's almost identical to yours, but the flowers are just a bit more compact, the petals a little softer, the arrangement slightly more refined.

You glance from her bouquet to your own, then back to Rouge, your lips curving into a surprised smile. “Wait, is that...?”

Rouge’s eyes widen as she follows your gaze, her fingers gently grazing the petals of her bouquet. “Oh my goodness,” she laughs softly, clearly just realizing it. “We have the same flowers!”

You chuckle, nodding. “It seems so. Hibiscus, right?”

Rouge lets out a lighthearted laugh, her eyes glinting with surprise and amusement. “How funny! I didn’t know we shared the same taste in flowers. I guess we both have good taste.” She glances over at you with a teasing smile.

You look down at the bouquets again, still amused by the coincidence, and before you can say anything more, you notice Ace’s expression—a mix of embarrassment and mild frustration, like he’s hoping the world will swallow him up in that very moment.

“Ace,” you begin, raising an eyebrow, “you didn’t tell me hibiscus was your mom’s favorite too?”

Ace groans, rubbing the back of his neck as his eyes flicker to his parents. “I didn’t think it was important.”

Roger can’t help but grin. “Seems like hibiscus are a family favorite, huh? What a coincidence!”

A soft smile tugs at the corners of your lips as you look at him, your heart a little lighter than it was a few moments ago. You hadn’t expected to feel so welcomed, so included in a way that feels real, let alone be called part of their family. The warmth in the room intensifies, and you can’t help but feel at home.

As the evening continues, everything seems to fall into place effortlessly. The conversations flow easily, the laughter never quite stops, and the atmosphere around the table feels like something out of a perfect, cozy memory. You chat with Rouge about travel, exchange stories with Roger about Ace's embarrassing childhood moments, and even manage to get in a little playful banter with Ace—who, despite his groaning and eye-rolling, looks far more at ease than he did when the night began.

You glance around the table at Ace, his parents, and then at the flowers still sitting in the center, symbols of the little, unexpected connections that have tied this evening together. The hibiscus, the teasing, the quiet moments of understanding—everything about tonight feels natural and effortless. It’s a rare kind of peace that you didn’t realize you were missing, but now you can't imagine being anywhere else.

As the night unfolds, a soft, melodic tune fills the bar, just loud enough to complement the gentle hum of conversation. Every so often, the music swells into a tender ballad, and the atmosphere shifts slightly—lightly, but noticeably. People begin to rise from their seats, some hand-in-hand, others alone, drawn by the lure of the music. They make their way to the small dance floor at the far side of the bar, moving gracefully under the dimmed lights.

Even Rouge and Roger, after a few minutes of lighthearted conversation, stand up from their seats, exchanging a look between them. Without a word, Roger extends his hand to Rouge with a playful grin, and she takes it with a laugh, standing gracefully as they make their way to the dance floor. Their movements are slow, in perfect rhythm with the music, and there’s something undeniably sweet about the way they hold each other, their laughter mingling with the soft melody.

“They’re pretty good at this,” you comment with a soft chuckle, nodding toward the dance floor.

Ace smirks, leaning back in his chair. “Yeah, they’ve been at it for years.”

“You know,” he begins, his voice low but thoughtful, “I think they’ve got something pretty special.” He leans back in his chair, his arms relaxed at his sides. “They’ve been together forever, but they still act like it’s their first dance.”

You glance at him, surprised by the depth of his words. There’s no teasing in his tone, no joking around—just a quiet appreciation. “I didn’t expect you to be so... sentimental about it,” you say, teasing him lightly.

Ace chuckles, but it’s warm, genuine. “I guess I’ve got more of that in me than I let on.” He shrugs, a small smile tugging at his lips. “I’ve seen how they are together, and I don’t think it’s cheesy at all. They’ve been through everything together, and they still make each other laugh like it’s the first time. That’s... rare.”

You smile, your gaze shifting back to Roger and Rouge, who are lost in each other on the dance floor. “I agree. There’s something really beautiful about it.” You glance back at Ace. “It’s nice to see them still so in love after all these years.”

Ace nods, a thoughtful look crossing his face as he watches his parents move together. “Yeah. They’ve got this connection. It’s not just the dancing—it’s everything. It’s how they care about each other, how they don’t need to say much to understand. It’s real, you know?”

There’s a quiet sincerity in his voice, and you can tell he genuinely admires that bond between them. “I can see why you’d want that for yourself,” you say softly, studying him closely now.

Ace looks at you, a little surprised, and then gives a small, almost shy smile. “I want that too, you know? Someone who gets it. I feel pretty lucky. Lucky that I found someone like you. I never thought I’d find someone who gets me, who makes me feel... like I can picture a future. Someone who makes everything feel a little more real.”

Your heart skips a beat, and you feel the warmth of his words settle in your chest. You try to hide the soft smile tugging at your lips, not wanting to seem too caught off guard, but his words hit you in a way you weren’t expecting.

“I’m glad I met you too, Ace,” you say softly, your voice filled with sincerity as you meet his gaze. “I never thought I’d be sitting here, feeling like this. But I’m glad we ended up here.”

The smile that spreads across his face is everything you’ve come to love about him—the way he can make everything feel just a little bit lighter, even when things are deep and serious. “Guess we’ve both got our luck, huh?”

And then, just as the thought of a future together feels more real than ever, the music shifts. A familiar melody fills the space between you, the opening chords of “Lucky” by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat playing softly in the background.

You freeze for just a moment, eyes widening as you recognize the song. It’s the one you and Ace had both joked about being “your song” after a long, lazy afternoon spent listening to it together and realizing how the song matches with your ‘long distance’ situation at the moment.

Ace stands slowly, his hand extending toward you, his eyes full of affection and something a little deeper. “Would you dance with me?”

You blink, taken aback for a second by the sincerity in his request. But when you look into his eyes, you see the invitation isn’t just for a dance. It’s a moment, a small gesture that means so much more. You take his hand, standing up with a smile that matches his.

“I’d love to.”

Do you hear me? I'm talking to you

Across the water across the deep blue ocean

Under the open sky, oh my, baby, I'm trying

Ace pulls you close, guiding you toward the small dance floor where a few couples are still swaying to the music. His movements are steady and sure as he wraps his arm around you, his other hand holding yours gently but firmly. You both fall into a natural rhythm, as if the song had always been written for this moment, for the two of you.

Boy, I hear you in my dreams

I feel your whisper across the sea

I keep you with me in my heart

You make it easier when life gets hard

Your body naturally presses closer to his, the warmth between you building with every movement. You let yourself relax into him, your head resting lightly against his chest. You can hear his heartbeat beneath your ear, steady and calming, as the music flows around you both. His hand on your waist shifts slightly, guiding you in small circles as the song drifts on, and you find yourself smiling without even realizing it. Everything about the moment feels right—like the music was made for you, and this dance was meant to happen.

Ace’s thumb lightly brushes the back of your hand, and you rest your cheek against his chest again, feeling the warmth of his body. The song lingers in the air, and without thinking, the two of you begin to softly hum the next lyrics together, your voices blending effortlessly, like you’ve both known them by heart for a long time.

“Lucky I’m in love with my best friend…”

The words fall easily from your lips, the familiarity of the lyrics mixing with the quiet comfort of his presence. You can feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat under your cheek as he hums along, his voice low and gentle.

“Lucky to have been where I have been…”

Ace’s voice flows with yours, the sound soft, but full of sincerity. His hand on your back pulls you just a little closer, the simple gesture making your heart flutter in your chest.

“Lucky to be coming home again…”

Ace shifts slightly, his lips brushing against your temple in a soft, lingering kiss. It’s sweet, warm, and just a little shy, like he’s trying to capture the moment and hold onto it forever. As the music continues to play, the quiet intimacy between you both feels like it’s building—subtle, gentle, but undeniable. You pull back just slightly to meet his eyes, the connection between you both as strong as ever.

There’s a brief silence between you, an understanding that this moment is yours. Ace smiles, his gaze soft and affectionate, and before you can fully process what’s happening, he leans in, his lips brushing yours in a gentle, fleeting kiss.

It’s a soft peck, almost like a promise—a quiet declaration of everything that’s been shared, everything that’s to come. The kiss is over almost as soon as it begins, but the warmth of it lingers, the feeling of his lips against yours staying with you in the air long after he pulls back.

They don't know how long it takes

Waiting for a love like this

Every time we say goodbye

I wish we had one more kiss

I'll wait for you, I promise you, I will

Just as you’re beginning to lose yourself in the warmth of the dance, a sudden shift in movement jolts you both—nothing harsh, but a light bump, as if the space around you has suddenly tightened.

You glance up just in time to see Ace and you, inadvertently stepping into the path of Roger and Rouge, who are also gliding across the dance floor, the two of them lost in their own rhythm. For a moment, the dance floor becomes a little chaotic—an accidental tangle of feet, a brief shuffle—but then, without missing a beat, both couples laugh lightly.

Ace, ever the quick thinker, grins at his parents. “Looks like we’re all a little too into this, huh?” he says with a chuckle. Before you can react, the smoothness of the moment takes over. Roger, grinning at you, offers a hand, and Ace extends his to Rouge with a teasing but affectionate smile. With an effortless grace, you both exchange partners.

After a few moments, Rouge leans in slightly, her voice low but warm, a soft teasing tone lacing her words. “So, tell me, Ace, how’s Y/N doing? You two seem pretty cozy tonight,” she says, her eyes flicking toward you and Roger as you both share a light moment on the side of the dance floor.

“Mom, really?” he asks with a laugh, but there’s no real hesitation. He knows she means well, and after everything, he’s grown used to her playful nudges.

Rouge smiles even wider, her voice soft but filled with affection as she continues, “Oh, come on. I’ve seen the way you look at her. You’ve been looking at her like she’s the only person in the room.”

“She is, Mom,” he admits quietly, his voice full of affection.

Meanwhile as you’re guided across the dance floor by Roger, you can’t help but feel the slight awkwardness of the moment. The music is still flowing smoothly, but there’s something a bit off-kilter as you try to keep in time with his steps. Unlike Ace, who is already taller than you, Roger towers over you, his even much taller frame making it a bit of a challenge to find your rhythm together.

You tilt your head back just to meet his eyes, his smile warm but slightly amused at the awkwardness of the situation. “You good?” he asks, his voice low, clearly sensing the struggle as you try to adjust to the difference in height.

You let out a small, self-conscious laugh, trying to adjust your stance. “It’s just… you’re a lot taller than Ace,” you explain, your feet not quite syncing with his longer stride. Roger chuckles softly. “As long as you don’t break my toes, we’re good.”

As the song nears its end, you glance over at Ace, who’s watching you with a soft smile from across the room. Roger notices and gently guides you to a stop. “I think he’s ready to take you back,” he says with a teasing grin.

You laugh and nod. “Yeah, he’s been waiting.”

With a final thank you to Roger, you make your way back to Ace, and the moment you’re in his arms again, it feels like everything clicks into place. His embrace is warm, familiar, and comforting.

I'm lucky we're in love in every way

Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed

Lucky to be coming home someday

As the song finishes, Ace pulls you back in, then leads you to your table. He pulls out your chair before sitting down beside you, his hand resting gently on your shoulder.

"Thank you for the dance, my lady" he says with a soft smile.

You smile back, your voice quiet. "Thank you!"

After a while, the four of you decide to leave the cozy warmth of the bar. As you step outside, the crisp air hits you, and the gentle snowfall makes everything feel serene and peaceful. The snowflakes swirl around, creating a soft, glittering blanket on the streets. Ace pulls his jacket tighter around him as he looks at you with a grin.

“Ready to brave the snow?” he asks, his voice full of warmth despite the chill in the air.

You smile, nodding as you both join Rouge and Roger, starting the walk back home. The snow crunches beneath your boots as you make your way down the quiet, snowy streets. There’s a quiet, comfortable energy between all of you, the sound of laughter and light conversation blending with the soft whistling of the wind.

Ace’s hand finds yours in the quiet night, pulling you just a little closer as the four of you walk together, heading home through the calm, snow-covered world.

As you and Rouge chat, walking side by side through the soft snow, the quiet evening feeling peaceful, you feel Ace’s hand slip from yours. You glance over just in time to see him lower himself down, scooping up a handful of snow, his playful grin spreading across his face.

Before you can react, he packs the snow into a perfect snowball and tosses it, hitting you gently on the shoulder.

“Hey!” you exclaim, laughing as you shake the snow off, your heart racing from the surprise. “That’s how it’s gonna be?”

Ace’s grin only widens, and he takes a step back, raising his hands in mock surrender. “What? I thought you’d like a little snowball fight.”

With a playful smile, you turn to Rouge, holding out the bouquet of hibiscus that Ace had given you earlier. “Here,” you say, handing it to her. “I’ll be right back.”

Rouge takes the flowers, a warm smile on her face. “Go get him.”

Without missing a beat, you scoop up a handful of snow, packing it into a snowball, and take off running toward Ace, who’s still laughing, clearly unprepared for your sudden move. You race toward him, the snow crunching beneath your feet, your heart pounding in excitement.

“You’re not getting away with this!” you call, launching the snowball straight at him.

Ace barely has time to react before the snowball hits him square in the chest. He stumbles back a little, wide-eyed and laughing. “Oh, it’s on now!”

You flash a grin, already ready to dodge his return fire, as the two of you fall back into your playful snowball fight, laughter filling the crisp air around you.

As you run toward Ace, snowball in hand, ready to get your playful revenge, you don't expect him to suddenly open his arms wide. Before you know it, he’s caught you in the middle of your sprint, pulling you toward him with a swift motion.

“Gotcha!” he laughs, his arms wrapping around you as he yanks you both backward, falling into a thick layer of snow on the ground.

The soft snow cushions your fall, and you both land with a light thud, snow surrounding you. For a moment, you’re both caught in a burst of laughter, the cold air mixing with the warmth of the fun. Ace's arms are still wrapped tightly around you, both of you half-buried in the snow, but neither of you mind.

Both of you are rolling around in the snow, laughing uncontrollably as Ace tries to tickle you, and you scramble to push him off, though you're both too caught up in the moment to care about the cold. Snowflakes fall around you as you two tumble, your laughter filling the air, soft and carefree. Ace is sitting up, wiping snow from his jacket, when you notice the look in his eyes—mischief mixed with something more tender.

"Maybe in another universe, we're pirates sailing the seas together and never separated from each other" he says out of nowhere.

You pause for a moment, your breath catching in the cold air, and before he can say anything, you lean down toward him, your hands gently pushing away a stray snowflake from his cheek.

"Shut up with your conspirative ideas ,hotshot"

Without another word, you press a soft kiss to his lips, the snow around you almost feeling like a blur as the world narrows down to just the two of you.

From a short distance away, Roger and Rouge watch the scene unfold, a quiet smile on both of their faces. They exchange a look, seeing the happiness and lightheartedness between you two.

Roger chuckles softly. “Eh, young love…” he says, his voice filled with warmth as he watches the young couple enjoying the moment. “Stop talking like a grandpa, and let’s leave” Rouge spats playfully at him, holding his arm and walking away.

jealous ~ portgas d. ace x reader

summary: ace was not jealous of luffy's new sitter

Jealous ~ Portgas D. Ace X Reader

“She sounds like a witch.”

“Well that makes her cooler than you! Blah!” Luffy sticks his tongue out with a face.

“Ace.” Sabo calls sternly, “Don’t say those things about (Y/N).”

“I didn’t know that witches had names.” Ace mutters and crossing his arms over his chest.

“You’re the witch!” Luffy slaps Ace on the head before leaping from his chair.

Ace quickly turns in his seat, “You little brat!” He yells, trying to swat at the eight year old.

“You did insult his new sitter.” Sabo comments, setting the plate of cooked meat on the table, “Luffy! Come eat!”

“Meeeaaatt!” The small voice screeches, followed by the pitter patter of feet.

Ace scoffs, grabbing a piece before Luffy can get his grubby little hands over all of it, “Don’t see why we need her.” He takes an aggressive bite, “Poisoning his mind.”

“You’ve never even met her.” Sabo exasperates, “Besides, we need the help.”

Luffy inhales his plate, “And she’s the best!”

“See!” Ace points wildly, “Poison!”

Sabo rolls his eyes, “Just eat your food.”

Ace grumbles, doing as he’s told but not without some irritation.

It had been several weeks since Sabo had hired you to watch Luffy in the afternoons. Ever since Sabo had been assigned more responsibilities at work, he wasn’t able to pick Luffy up from school like he used to. Being that Ace takes Luffy to school in the mornings, he already compensates to stay later at his job.

So the only solution was to have Luffy spend a couple hours with someone during the in between.

Which was easier said than done.

They first tried Garp, but after Sabo had come home to Luffy unattended and trying to cook over an open fire in the trash can (more than once mind you), they realized they might need someone new.

Then there was Dadan, but after one little shaved eyebrow incident it was clear it wasn’t going to work out.

There were even more who lasted less, so when you showed up it was like a god send.

Ace had laughed his ass off after Luffy excitedly, and Sabo dejectedly, recounted the story of how Luffy managed to hide from you the entire afternoon. Only visible by the dozens of spitballs he landed on your face.

Sabo figured that was the end of it and was already writing up a new ad when you texted asking about dietary restrictions. He cautiously texted you that he’d be surprised if Luffy had any. He wasn’t trying to get his hopes up but when he came home the next day to find Luffy intently watching you frost cupcakes, he had a good feeling about this.

Luffy took to you almost as fast as he took to Ace and Sabo. Every day you had something new for him. Building blanket forts, playing pirates with foam swords, having him help prep tasty snacks, it was endless fun and Luffy never wanted it to stop.

Ace on the other hand wasn’t as pleased. While he never had the displeasure to meet you, he was getting a little tired of listening about the wonderful and amazing and super cool (Y/N).

How great could you really be?

“Besides,” Sabo continues, “You’ll finally get to meet her at Luffy’s soccer game this weekend.”

“What!” Ace shouts, slamming his hands on the table, “Why!”

Sabo ignores his brother’s overdramatics, “Luffy asked her too.”

“Yeah!” Luffy adds happily, “She’s gonna make me a sign!”

“I can make you a sign!” Ace pleads, “I can make you twosigns!’

“Ace. Get a hold of yourself.” Sabo snaps while rolling his eyes, “This is just pathetic.”

Sabo had assumed Ace had gotten over when he didn’t mention it in the days leading up to the match.

How wrong he was.

.

“Why’s that crap all over your face?”

“Language, Luffy.” Sabo calls over his shoulder.

“It’s for you.” Ace says, checking his spirit face paint in the mirror, “Because I’m your biggest fan.”

“You look like a clown.”

“A clown that’s gonna buy you ice cream if you win.”

“Really?” Luffy asks excitedly, “A double scoop too?”

Ace smiles to himself looking back at Luffy buckled in his seat, “If you score a point you can have a triple scoop.”

“Triple?!” Luffy screams followed by his muttering about which flavors he’s going to get.

“Bribery?” Sabo deadpans, “Really?”

“What? Needs a little motivation if he wants to win.” Ace defends himself.

“Right.” Sabo says sarcastically, “That’s what this is about.”

Ace ignores his brother, instead continuing to hype Luffy up with thoughts of ice cream and extra sprinkles after the match until they pull into the parking lot.

As soon as the car is parked, Luffy is a shot out of the car like a canon, sprinting to the field to see his friends.

“I think your pom poms are in the trunk if you want to grab them.” Sabo teases.

“Shut up.” Ace growls, “Sorry I’m just a bigger fan than you are.”

Sabo scoffs, choosing to ignore Ace’s comment in favor of heading to the bleachers.

Ace follows and from a distance can see Luffy sprinting off the field and to someone in the crowd.

They open their arms wide and catches Luffy as he collides against their chest. Even from so far away he can see Luffy talking a mile a minute and waving his hands all over the place. The person throws their head back with a laugh before pulling out a giant sign that Luffy accepts with stars in his eyes.

Wait a minute.

Ace roughly pulls Sabo back by the shoulder, “Who the fuck is that?” He whispers urgently.

“Who?” Sabo asks confused, eyes following to where you and Luffy are, “You mean (Y/N)?”

“That’s (Y/N)?” Ace hisses.

“Yeah?”

“Why didn’t you tell me she looked like that?”

“What do you mean?” Sabo shoots back, annoyed with Ace’s integration.

“What do you mean what do I mean?” He nearly shouts, “Look at her! She’s gorgeous!”

Sabo chokes on a surprised laugh, “You cannot be serious right now.”

“And you let me paint my face like an idiot!” Ace continues, starting to panic.

“I told you, you looked like an idiot.”

“Yeah, but…” Ace trails off, “Whatever! I don’t know how you could do this to me!”

“Get over yourself.” Sabo shrugs off Ace hand, “Now you like her because you think she’s hot?”

“She’s not hot.” Ace shoots back, disgusted Sabo would resort your appearance to such a trivial word, “She’s beautiful. She looks like she was crafted by Aphrodite herself!”

Sabo cocks his head, “When were you reading mythology?”

“That’s not important!” Ace stomps his foot, “I have to go, I can’t let her see me like this! I need to get-”

“Saboooo! Aceee!” A voice screams from across the field.

Ace feels like he’s in a horror film as he slowly turns to see his monster of a little brother waving them over.

Sabo gives him a shit eating grin, “Looks like you’re out of luck.” And then walks off to the two of you.

Ace follows, a little thankful for the face paint since it hides the deep blush on his face. Not that it would be as bad if he wasn’t wearing it in the first place.

“Look! Look!” Luffy is jumping up and down with the sign in his hands.

The words ‘Pirate King Luffy!’ are drawn in big block letters, along with the team’s strawhat insignia. Wow, Ace thinks to himself, beautiful and talented.

“That’s cool Luffy!” Sabo smiles, “Did you thank (Y/N)?”

Luffy whips his head in your direction, “Thank you (Y/N).”

“Of course, my little pirate king.” You smile while ruffling his hair. Ace swears your voice is like tinkling bell, “Although I’m sorry I didn’t go all out like some of your fans.”

And then your eyes cut to Ace and he partly wishes he had painted his whole body because there’s no way his flush hasn’t spread down his neck.

“Uhm, hi!” Ace blurts out before bowing, “I’m Ace.”

He watches as you lean into the palm of your hand with your elbow on your knee, “I’ve heard a lot about you. Glad to finally put a face to the name.” You say with a smile.

“Aha.” Ace laughs awkwardly, internally freaking out about whatever Sabo or Luffy might have said about him.

“What face?” Sabo cuts in with a smirk, “Can’t even see it.”

Ace tries to elbow Sabo in the gut while you giggle behind your hand.

“This is boring.” Luffy complains, “I’m leaving!” And then hands you the poster before sprinting back to the field.

“Good luck!” You call after him with a wave, “So?” You look at the brothers, “You two want to sit?”

And Ace is lightening quick to take the spot beside you while Sabo scoffs to himself.

There isn’t much time for talking when the game starts, because you are a surprisingly loud fan.

Cheering for Luffy and each of his teammates, waving the sign back and forth, laughing when Luffy tries to kick the ball at the wrong goal.

It’s surprising the Strawhats even win, had it not been for the goalie with the green hair that stopped every ball like he had a third hand or the boy with the swirly eyebrow who’s kicks sent the ball from one end of the field to the other, there was no way the other team members could have pulled it together.

But Luffy had fun, and that’s what mattered.

“Ice cream, ice cream, ice cream!” He screamed, running back to the three of you sitting in the stands, “Are we getting ice cream now?”

“Well the team did win” Ace nods, “I suppose you deserve it.”

“Yeah!” Luffy spins in a circle, before turning to you and tugging on your hand, “Did you see me out there! I kicked the ball just like we practiced!”

“You did!” You agree with a proud grin, and Ace and Sabo note you choose not to mention it was into the wrong goal, “I’m so proud of you!”

“You should come with!” Ace awkwardly shouts, drawing the attention of the group, “Uhm, for ice cream, if you’d like to join us, that is?”

“Oh.” You say, a little taken back by the offer. You had assumed Ace might have not liked you too much after the first quarter when he barely said a word. Each time you tried to engage him he’d rush out an answer before starring at the ground while Sabo shook his head beside him.

You had decided to instead spend your time cheering on Luffy, ignoring the small dejection in your stomach at his apparent dismissal.

“I’d love to join, if that’s okay?” Your eyes shift to Sabo who’s looking at Ace with a bit of surprise in his expression.

“But I thought you didn’t like (Y/N).” Luffy says from below, “Because she’s a witch!”

Anger and embarrassment flush through Ace’s body as he grabs Luffy by the back of the collar and drags him closer, slapping a hand over his mouth, “I never said that! Why would I say that?”

“Mhm!” Luffy shouts into Ace’s hand.

Ace laughs awkwardly, “That’s not nice Luffy, (Y/N) is much too pretty to be a witch.”

Sabo scoffs for the hundredth time that day, so over watching Ace’s pathetic attempts at flirting. “C’mon Luffy.” He grabs the boy from Ace, “Let’s go get you stuff.” Taking him to the field to pick up his bag, “We’ll be waiting in the car!”

“Luffy doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” Ace says quickly.

“It’s okay.” You hold up a hand with a smile, “I know a jealous big brother when I see one.”

Ace doesn’t respond, a little ashamed to think about how he’s behaved the last few weeks.

“But I suppose the only way to overcome that is to share my time with Luffy.” You hesitantly meet his eyes, “If you’d like that is.”

“I’d like.” Ace nods his head up and down, “Very much. And maybe without Luffy?”

You laugh at his forwardness, “How about we start with the ice cream?”

Indeed, a sugary comfort piece of loving your s/o after their long day

Indeed, A Sugary Comfort Piece Of Loving Your S/o After Their Long Day

long days with ace

note: old work and NOT rewritten (ie i may edit in the future)

NO BECAUSE I AM SOFT TONIGHT OKAY. Imagine this. Ace coming to bed all tired and grouchy. The day couldn’t have gone worse. He’d woken up late for his own divisions mission. Missed breakfast. It had been raining all day. The mission had taken longer than expected. He’d stubbed his toe. The list could go on forever. The only thing keeping him from snapping was you waiting for him in bed. He hadn’t even been able to wake you up with kisses this morning, only a rushed peck before he was dragged out by Marco. Now, with finally done debriefing everyone, he dragged himself to his room. And the moment he stepped through the door it felt like the weight on his shoulders and the band gripping his chest and the storm hovering over his head disappeared. With the lamp fire still flickering, there you lay, reading a book under the covers. And as soon as you heard the door creak open you looked up and smiled all big and warm, threw aside the book, and opened your arms wide in invitation. He didn’t need to be told twice to catapult himself into your embrace. And once he was finally home, he released the breathe he was holding in all day. For a moment, you both just lay there, basking in each other’s presence. You can tell it’s not been the best day for Ace. So, after a few moments of running your fingers though his hair you start to shift on top of him. He whines loudly in protest and tightens his arms around your waist but let’s you do as you please after you whisper “Gimme a sec baby just wanna pamper you a little Im not going anywhere” into his ear and press a kiss to his freckled cheek. You’re now on top of him and he’s half-heartedly glaring at you for disturbing him. You roll your eyes and get started. You slowly move your hands up and down his body. All the way from his shoulders to his chest to his stomach and back up again. You caress every inch of him like you’re worshipping it. Slowly and softy you take your time. Every scar your fingers glide over you stop and slowly trace. And then move your face down to pepper light and airy kisses over it. You only stop after you have loved ever single bump blemish and scar on his body throughly. You glance up for a moment to check on him and are blessed with the sight of his face in a state of bliss. Dark hair spread across the pillow eyes resting shut and mouth slightly parted. With a hum of approval, you travel up and slowly press a kiss onto an eyelid and then move to do the same to the other. And then you do it again. And again. And again. Then, you gently cradle his face between your hands. When his eyelids start to flutter, you press a kiss to his nose and say “Shhh love just relax let me take care of you okay.” You slowly glide your lips over to the first freckle your eye catches. Slowly you press your lips down and hold them there. After a moment, you move onto the next freckle. And the next. And the next. Your thumbs rub slow circles into his jaw, easing out the worry and stress. And after you’ve trailed your fingers and lips over every inch of his body. Every scar on his shoulder wrist and waist. Every freckle on his face stomach and neck. You press a kiss to his lips, which had been neglected this entire time. You’re caught by surprise when you feel him kissing you back, thinking he had been asleep some time ago. He loops his arms around you again, tighter than before, and buries his face into your hair. He inhales your shampoo and exhales a whispered “Thank you” so low that you almost miss it with how deep he’d burrowed in your head. You respond by pressing your lips to his shoulder briefly and respond a loving “Always.” Ace falls asleep like that. Surrounded by your love. And the reminder that it’s okay to let others take care of him for a change. That he doesn’t need to prove himself to be loved. That he doesn’t necessarily need to give in order for something to be given back every time. That love might just actually be as easy as falling into your reassuring arms and sweet kisses and warm smile. That he deserves to be loved as much as anyone else.

Amazing, you hit my interest boxes 💖 👏🏻

Amazing, You Hit My Interest Boxes 💖 👏🏻

in the eye of the beholder (portgas d. ace x reader)

req: You wanted an Ace request? 👀

How about Ace with a zoan mythical devil fruit reader that never really changes into their devil fruit form or variables of it because she felt like it would scare them or something, but when Ace is near death, the reader comes in full force and saves him

I don't know what type the zoan will be, but can you have it be a big creature like a dragon? I just love the trope of a person going ape shit for their beloved/crush

a/n: omg i love that trope too ;;0;; i love any trope that involves one person losing control in order to protect someone else dat shit Hits also oops i think i got a bit overenthusiastic with the descriptions of reader’s body changing so i hope it’s not too much for anyone :0 !

ALSO MORE ACE REQUESTS PLS AND THANK U MUAH

contents: somewhat gory descriptions of bodily harm(? but nothing too gross i don’t think), some angst, fluff, hurt/comfort!!

wc. 1.8k

wanna be on my taglist?

despite being your boyfriend for nearly two years now, Ace still doesn’t know what your full Zoan form looks like. he knows you have the Dragon variant of Devil Fruit but that’s pretty much the full extent of his knowledge, aside from the rare occasion you use your hybrid form to fly but even during those moments you move so fast his eyes can barely keep up

Ace would be lying if he said he wasn’t a tiny bit upset he’s never seen your full form–back when he was a fresh member of the crew he’d even pestered you quite a bit in hopes you’ll cave in and show him–but he understands why you’re hesitant to use it

“you do know it hurts her, right?” Thatch said out of the blue one day when Ace had nothing better to do and decided to watch him cook to kill time.

“what does?” the second division commander replied through a mouthful of bread.

“transforming into her Zoan form,” the head chef continued. “i’ve seen it myself only twice but both times it was kind of hard to watch.”

the more Ace listened to Thatch’s descriptions of the sounds of your bones cracking and flesh tearing as your human screams gradually turned into monsterish roars that shook the very earth, the more guilty he felt for all the times he’d asked you to show him. he’d seen Marco transform so many times, he ignorantly assumed the process was just as easy and painless for you.

“the last time she did it,” Thatch added, “she scared some civilians by accident and they got hurt trying to run away. i think that fucked her up a bit for quite a while.”

it’s safe to say, he stopped asking you to transform after that. though the suddenness of it all surprised you, it was nice being able to hang out with him without worrying about being asked to show your Zoan form. a few months afterwards, you even end up dating him–something your past self never would have considered

Ace still is very interested in what your full form looks like but he can see himself spending the rest of his life with you so he’s sure he’ll see it one day–and soon he learns he’s right, he just never thought it would be under such dire circumstances

for the first time in a long time, Ace finds himself panicking on the battlefield. his heart pounds painfully against his ribcage and no matter how much air he tries to inhale, his lungs are constantly begging for more air. Ace’s vision blurs but he refuses to lose consciousness, blinking rapidly to clear his sight as he stares down at his blood soaked hands.

he’s not wounded, though. you are.

lying on the dirt in front of him as the two of you take cover behind an abandoned cottage, you gasp for air as fresh blood slowly pools beneath you; the red, hot substance pouring out from the bullet wounds in your torso and legs.

what was supposed to be a simple recon mission turned out to be an ambush by the marines.

“stay awake, you hear me?” Ace shouts as he tilts your head to look at him, staining your cheek with your own blood from his hands. “give me one minute and i’ll be back. i just need a minute and we’ll be safe, okay?” his words are confident and firm, in stark contrast to his teary eyes and trembling hands; but you trust him with your life so you simply nod.

from where you lay, you can see most of the battlefield. you watch as he burns down the endless waves of marines almost effortlessly, like he always does, and you nearly break your promise as you’re nearly lulled to sleep by the familiar sense of security he brings you. in fact, you’re on the brink of dozing off when you’re startled awake by the sound of Ace screaming.

your eyes snap open as you frantically scan the area, bile rising up your throat as you struggle to find Ace. when you do finally see him, it takes all of your willpower not to puke out of fear.

at the feet of what looks like a Vice Admiral, he lies near-motionless, the only sign of life being the faint rise and fall of his chest and the hacking cough that tears its way out of his blood-filled mouth. the Marine orders his remaining soldiers to fall back and to “leave them to me.” with a sadistic smile painted on his face. he speaks to Ace briefly though you’re unable to catch what he’s saying and then, with a haki-imbued kick, he sends your lover flying across the battlefield in your direction.

wheezing and coughing as tears drip down his grimacing face, Ace reaches out to you with a trembling, blood-covered hand. his fingers brush against your own tear-stained face and with all the remaining strength left within him, he smiles at you.

“i… i’ll protect you… no matter what.” he mutters as you watch the Vice Admiral close the distance, taking step after step towards the back of your lover.

it’s in the moments that follow does Ace learn that Thatch’s description of your Zoan transformation did little justice to the real thing.

he watches helplessly as you begin to scream while you lift your upper body off the ground and at first he thinks it’s from the pain from your wounds but once your skin starts to turn into scales, he realises it’s so much worse. as your body grows in size, your limbs crack and shift and massive wings sprout out of your spine. your head’s tossed back as you shriek to the heavens while your eyes turn a golden yellow and your pupil transforms into a slit.

the ground trembles as your voice transforms into a deep roar that shakes even the faraway trees of the surrounding forest. too wounded to turn himself around, Ace can only guess the looks of terror on the marines’ faces from the sound of their panicked shouting and uncoordinated gunfire. he watches in awe as the bullets that reach your body fall uselessly to the ground.

Ace feels the hairs on the back of his neck stand up as his instincts scream at him to get away from the looming threat still approaching him from the back. under normal circumstances, he’s sure he’ll be able to get away from the Vice Admiral through sheer willpower alone, escaping death is nothing new to the young man–right now, though, he knows he’s safe when you lower one of your massive wings to shield him from the rest of the world.

he listens as the cries for mercy gradually die down into a peaceful silence composed of the evening wind, insects chirping and the crackling of small fires that are soon to fizzle out. although Ace can tell he’s not fatally wounded, his body hurts to the point where it feels hard to move–arrogance always was the achilles heel of logia users.

the setting sun shines on him once more as your wing retracts while you slowly transform back to normal. he calls out your name but you don’t respond and for a moment, he feels the same sense of panic from before rising up in his chest. his poor heart only settles once he has your unconscious body cradled in his tired arms. you’re still badly wounded but your chest rises and falls steadily as you rest in his embrace.

Marco finds the second division commander and the Whitebeard Dragon asleep in each other's arms surrounded by nearly hundreds of dead marines, all burnt to a crisp. though most would naturally assume Firefist Ace was the main culprit, Marco suspects–just by looking at the faint scaly pattern still lingering on your skin–that you might have done all the work this time

Ace wakes up first, not in an infirmary bed like he thought he would but still on the battlefield, face-to-face with his close friend who’s leaning over to pull you out of Ace’s arms. it takes both men a second to realise the true extent of his protectiveness over you; and it takes another second before Marco starts making fun of the younger man for being so whipped

it takes a long time for you to wake up even after Marco uses his Devil Fruit abilities to help heal most of your wounds. “it takes a bigger toll on her than normal Zoan Devil Fruit transformations would,” the doctor had explained to a distraught Ace, “her body goes through a lot to become something so massive, y’know?”

being patient was never Ace’s strong suit but he has zero complaints while waiting for you to wake up. for weeks he stays by your bedside, talking to you about his day, playing with your hands, and taking naps whilst curled up by your feet. the other crew members who come in to check on you daily constantly poke fun at him and yet it’s these same people who leave snacks, drinks and comics for him to use while waiting by your side.

almost a full month passes by before you wake up to the feeling of something warm and heavy resting on your chest; and moments later, Ace is roused from his nap when he feels your fingers brushing through his hair.

“hey,” he whispers, head still resting in the valley of your breasts, tilted up just enough for his eyes to meet yours. his legs are tangled with yours as the infirmary bed blanket lays uselessly on the floor.

“hey,” you reply, voice hoarse from the dryness of your throat.

“you’re really cool,” Ace says, eyelids forming into crescents as he smiles–the simple expression almost infectious in the way you feel the corners of your own lips tugging upwards in spite of being reminded about the sheer agony of your Zoan transformation.

“it must’ve been shocking, huh?” you ask, “watching me transform? i’ve heard some people say it’s gross and scary–”

“no!” he cuts you off, eyebrows furrowing, “it was amazing.” Ace runs his warm fingers up and down your bare arms before trailing downward to meet your hands, all the while staying laid on top of you with his eyes locked onto your own. “you were amazing. i’d never felt safer in my life.”

you can’t help but sniffle as you feel your eyes begin to burn with tears. “it wasn’t disgusting? i… wasn’t disgusting?” shaking his head, Ace inches forward until the tip of his nose brushes against yours.

“you were beautiful,” he murmurs, “you are so beautiful.”
