One Piece Dream Recollection Part 2 - Kidd, Killer, Doflamingo

At first, I was travelling through a hostile environment with Kidd and Killer. Things had started out with me helping a primary school kid through their bike exam at school and then through shenanigans I am unfortunately unable to remember I ended up in a big castle-like structure.

Evil royalty lived here, I was either infiltrating the place or working there as a maid, as I ran through the corridors plenty.

The Kidd Pirates - enemies to the castle's royalty - had somehow ended up in there and tried to escape.

I mainly just interacted with Kidd and Killer who didn't trust me in the least at first.

I went along with them despite them trying to get me to leave them the hell alone and stuck around with them for long enough for them to start softening a bit towards me.

As we ran down a very large set of stairs - going down multiple floors in a rectangular shape - we were hot in pursuit by our enemies.

Kidd decided to stay behind and fight them to ensure all of his friends would make it out alive. Killer and I freaked out big time at this but Killer didn't waste time arguing, followed Kidd's command and instead made sure the Kidd Pirates would all successfully escape.

I wasn't nearly as smart and started begging Kidd not to risk his life for this. There was a lot of back and forth of him going "Why the fuck do you care, you don't even know me" to me struggling to explain myself and then I offered to keep the enemies away in his stead.

I must have been a capable fighter in my dream because this was a genuine option. Kidd seeing that I was willing to sacrifice my safety and possibly my life in favour of him and especially his friends immediately won me his respect and then it became the most melodramatic soap opera shit about "no, you can't do this!" of us both saying that to each other that you've ever seen.

I'm pretty sure there was even dramatic, romantic music playing during this, it was fucking wild. I was mentally making fun of how cheesy everything was even as it happened in the dream.

Eventually we all tried to make it out together and ended up hiding in a room on the bottom floor of the castle, right beside the exit. We had to wait for a lot of enemy soldiers to pass before we were able to make it out. I caused a diversion by talking to the guards seeing as they didn't recognize my face.

You're gonna have to suspend your disbelief for a bit here, cause all of a sudden I stopped being myself and uh, became Kidd. Yeah, that happens sometimes.

I (Kidd) was somehow separated from the group, maybe the dream had shifted enough for this to be a slightly different scenario, either way I spread my wings - yup, Kidd/I had huge bat-like wings for whatever reason - and started flying away over the massive castle garden. Think Versaille's park, that sort of size of garden.

Now Kidd is fucking muscular, so it was very hard to fly very high with a body as heavy as his, making it very dangerous to be spotted by any of the numerous castle guards posted in said garden. There were a lot of plants and small hedges out and about that I was able to hide behind, even if the fact that I had the massive red coat on made it incredibly difficult.

I hunted down some small game because I was starting to get really hungry, eating it on the spot (not sure if I/Kidd was entirely human with that + the wings). When I flew slightly above the garden lake (of a relatively small scale) huge bubbles would appear right before massive fish with mouths full of rows of teeth lunged out, trying to kill me.

I had to dodge quite a lot of these killer fish on my journey.

Then the dream shifted a bit again and I was suddenly Doflamingo, yet in the same castle garden.

I came across a very weird hill - it looked entirely unnatural, like somebody who hadn't known how to terraform in a video game had collossally messed up.

Basically on each level of the hill the earth / floor was raised and right on top of it a large rectangular plate of earth (featuring another raise right on it) was stacked. There were about eight stacks of this and it was an incredibly wobbly construction (no wonder).

Now I (Doflamingo) carried over some of the exhaustion I had felt in my escape as Kidd so I considered this strange construction to be a good potential hiding spot.

When getting closer to inspect it I noticed that a rabbit momma (a larpin, but way cuter) and her baby had seeked out shelter under the construction too. The mom was at the very left of the floor she was on; meaning that every time the unstable construction wobbled and swung around in the wind, she had to support all of its weight with her head to make sure she and her baby weren't ever crushed to death.

The baby was injured, having a small cut on its belly as well as most of the fur on its stomach being red and upset so I set out to find some herbs to help treat its wounds.

When I returned the strange hill had leaned forward too much on the bunny's mom so she'd fallen unconscious from the pressure on her head. The baby was freaking out incredibly hard, thinking its mom had died so I sat down and soothed it to the best of my ability.

I then set out to stabilize this strange hill with my strings; connecting the top and bottom of each floor with said strings to stablize the construction and make sure it wouldn't sway dangerously anymore.

I then went around the back of the hill and did the same thing there, (in a very rare moment of scientific clarity I had a thought of "wait, that's not how physics work!" and decided to work on stabilizing the back of it too).

Honestly it was probably just Doflamingo's intelligence permeating my brain in the dream, I'm terrible with science.

So yeah! The dream ended right after this. It's a lot less cohesive than the last dream I dreamt but I hope you got to enjoy it either way.

Youtube has become more and more painful with copyright in recent years and frankly while it wasn't so bad for my Eustass Kidd and Ace playlists it got a lot worse when I uploaded Killer's. I don't like listening to slowed / reverb sort of playlists myself so I won't be going that route. Maybe it's just that I used particularly problematic music for Killer?

Either way, I'll be making playlists in the form of actual playlists strung together on spotify from here on out. If I make more playlists as mp3 and mp4 I'll upload them to the drive folder above, you can find the Ace, Kidd and Killer playlists there in both versions!

Happy birthday, Killer! Here's a playlist for his birthday. Enjoy!

Now youtube is a bit of a total bitch nuisance when it comes to uploading playlists, so I keep having to delete more and more songs out of it to make internationally accessible.

Which is why I've put the mp4 and mp3 versions of these playlist up on Google Drive! Feel free to download them and watch them from there. The mp4s are all in 480p with a low bitrate to make sure none of them exceed 1GB (having been up to 8GB of size before I reduced them!) but the mp3s are of course way smaller as well.

Without further ado, let's get into why I chose the songs for Killer!

1- Nobody's Soldier - Hozier

Killer's epiphet is "massacre soldier". I don't know if that's an epiphet he chose himself or if it was given to him, but in my mind it's like with Zoro's "pirate hunter" epiphet - it was given for some particular reason in the past, but doesn't necessarily fit anymore now.

I found this song while watching an absolutely incredible Ace AMV and really like it for Killer.

"Running with bulls, working my miracles" - Kidd as a bull, Killer keeping him back from any reckless decisions

"Choose between being a butcher or a pauper Honey, I'm taking no orders, I'm gonna be nobody's soldier" - The Kidd pirates don't take orders from anybody and neither does Killer just blindlessly follow Kidd's orders

"Sick to my skin, watching the news again Whatever you choose, you lose out in the long run" - Parallels with Killer being offered the smile fruit by Orochi to save Kidd

2 - Naked - Avril Lavigne

This one's for Killer's relation with Kidd, for whenever Kidd gets to know what Killer looks like under the mask and Killer starts to feel comfortable with that. Now that I think about it, it might as well apply to the entire crew.

I think there's a lot of vulnerability in Killer's insecurity about his face and laugh and this song captures that very insecurity perfectly.

3 - Numb the Pain - Clarx, Catas, Le Malls

This song is one I've chosen for Kidd as well. I think it fits the tough survival game that is the Grand Line well. Being a pirate ain't all that easy, especially with being up against some absolute freaks of nature. The Kidd pirates are all about picking themselves back up after having been beaten down and Killer is no exception to this.

"Now It's much harder to laugh Hard to get up and then work on my craft Feel like all of you hate me Everything's been so hard with all the situations lately Well maybe I'm done, maybe I've lost Still putting up a fight because [...]"

4 - Iris - Goo Goo Dolls

This one's another one of the vulnerable songs. Not wanting to be seen by the world may be a little very on the nose, but it still fits, dammit!

"And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am"

5 - I found - Amber Run

Another vulnerable addition! This one sounds romantic on the surface, but I believe that it is a lot more extensive than that.

You could interpret it as his romantic love towards Victoria, the song's sad tone fitting her demise, or you could interpret it as the familial love of having a found family amongst the Kidd pirates, or single it down to the platonic love he shares with Kidd as the best of best friends. In which case the sad tones may relate to losing said found family / best friend.

"And I've moved further than I thought I could But I missed you more than I thought I would" - this passage could relate to Victoria!

"And I found love where it wasn't supposed to be Right in front of me Talk some sense to me"

6- Hero - Skillet

This song sounds pretty punk-ish to me. (Not that I know literally a single thing about punk music!) It's more on the rock side of things and fits fighting vibes well. I'm not sure who he'd be the hero for in this case, but there's definitely themes of not giving up and fighting to the end in the lyrics so I'll call it a good fit, like it or not!

7 - I deserve to bleed - Sushi Soucy

This one is a little painful. It's a lot about self-hatred and being so desperately unhappy with your own looks that you'd want to harm yourself, something that I think for Killer would be amped up to the extreme by the effects of the smile fruit.

Poor man! Please let them have nice things at some point again, Oda-sensei.

8 - I'm gonna win - Rob Cantor

Yet another Grand Line survival song! Am I choosing all of these for Killer because I feel like I don't really know his personality yet? Perhaps. Very likely. I need to do some in-depth research for this man.

I guess it's also a good matchup song for any of his fights, namely the one with Hawkins.

9 - In the End - Linkin Park

Another song for fighting! Looking at recent developments (not saying anything because the spoilers in here are for Wano) it rings even more true.

10 - Wonderful World - Chase Holfelder

This one's a complete turnaround on the initial theme of the song - it's way more disheartened and far more angry! Far more fitting of a battle-hardened "soldier" than anything joyful.

11 - Misery Business - Paramore

Paramore has the perfect type of vibe for the Kidd Pirates and you cannot change my mind.

Also it makes me very happy to have "matching" songs between artists for Kid and Killer. I originally had "Ain't it fun" from Paramore on the playlist too but don't deem that as fitting enough (and it doesn't match the other songs well enough in my opinion!)

Can we talk about how absolutely sick this gif is? Whoever animated this, I love you from the bottom of my heart.

12 - Behind Blue Eyes - The Who

Themes of insecurity, vengeance and sadness + blue eyes + saw a Killer artist make an artwork with this song = part of the Killer playlist!

13 - The Pretender - Foo Fighters

It's angry, it's rock and it's either about Killer fighting somebody he considers a pretender or fighting himself, considering himself a pretender, being hidden away under the guise of his mask!

Or something something Kamazo (I haven't watched Wano yet I cannot possibly talk about this without making a fool of myself)

14 - Breaking my Bones - Friday Pilots Club

"For all of the stars to come down" - I like to think of this as a metaphor for bringing down all of the established order, making Kidd the new king of the pirates.

I like the vibes of this song for him and once again it's about fighting, picking yourself up and giving it your all! ... I feel very unimaginative having chosen so many of the same type for him. Sorry, Killer fans!!

15 - Body Terror Song - AJJ

I did really go all out with the "body shame" for this Killer playlist, this last addition not being an exception to the rule. I guess in a way a lot of these vulnerable / insecure songs are ones that I could see Killer listening to himself rather than just matching his vibes as I was able to do a lot better within my Kidd playlist.

16- Tracks of my tears - Flying Pickets

I really like this song for Killer for his post-smile fruit state of being.

"Although I might be laughing loud and hearty Deep inside I'm blue So take a good look at my face You'll see my smile looks out of place

If you look closer, it's easy to trace The tracks of my tears

I need you, need you

Outside I'm masquerading Inside my hope is fading Just a clown oh yeah Since you put me down My smile is my make up"

It is a love song technically, but you can definitely read the "I need you" as him needing his crew, their unconditional support to be able to live with himself.

I do love the idea of the smile being makeup as well, or just generally having makeup addressed feels pretty fitting for Killer.

I wish I could give you better explanations on a lot of these, but a lot of them are more chosen by gut feeling rather than "I actually know and understand this character and will make fitting choices".

I don't know if there IS a lot of Killer lore I just haven't seen in the anime yet or if I'm just as oblivious as the rest of you, but heyho.
