soulbonding culture is the realization of why there aren't alot of sources around; and being sad about it (Hi! This is a reply to a different anon. Apparently soulbonding is very old and alot of old websites were deleted!)
.
Alterhuman does not mean everyone who identifies as nonhuman on some level (oh and maybe otherhearted people too). Please for the love of all that is good and holy stop saying that. It means anyone whose identity falls outside of society’s idea of “normal human” - anyone with an identity alternative to humanity or that’s an alternative form of humanity. It includes nonhumanity, yes, but also otherheartedness, hearthomes, archetropy, plurality, daemonism, furry lifestylers, othervague folks, constelics, and so much more. Here’s the coiner’s words to prove it.
Fictionfolk does not mean anyone who identifies as a fictional character. It means anyone with an alterhuman connection to fiction of any kind. It includes fictionkin and fictives and such, yes, but also fictional hearthomes, fictionheartedness, soulbonders, fictional vaguetypes, fictional constelics, and much more. Here’s the coiner’s words to prove it.
To collapse these words down to basically be synonymous with otherkin and fictionkin is to utterly defeat their purpose. Please stop defining us out of our own communities. Please stop erasing the existence of everyone outside of “identifies as nonhuman and/or fictional”.

Honestly y'all need to chill with the "nonhumaness needs to be involuntary!"
The only reason you're saying that is due to wanting to present 'valid' enough for outsiders. It's not a choice so they won't bully you, like they do furries or other people.
And I hear you cry "but KFF!". KFF aren't nonhuman, they just relate. If someone comes over to me and says "I choose to be nonhuman today, I am nonhuman no matter what other ppl tell me. I genuinely identify as nonhuman." That isn't KFF, that's a nonhuman.
Truly, I'll just go "woah...that's so based". Because truly, what are our differences? We both genuinely identify as nonhuman....and yeah that's about it.
You might say, "they don't experience shifts!" There's nonhumans that don't experience shifts. And there's humans that experience shifts, we call it the "shifter's disease". Basically when a full human researches or is around nonhumans and begins feeling phantoms or feeling nonhuman, despite not being nonhuman. So it isn't exclusive to us.
"They don't have noemata!" There's nonhumans that don't have noemata.
"They don't suffer species dysphoria." Theres nonhumans that don't experience species dysphoria. Also cool transmed rethoric.
"They weren't born with it!" There's nonhumans that become nonhuman later on in life.
"They didn't wish their whole life to be a different species!" And? I can imagine there's some nonhumans that didn't even realize they wanted to be/were a different species.
"It's disrespectful to nonhumans that suffer due to their identity!" Another cool transmed rethoric. It's only disrespectful to you because you're up your own ass and believe that anyone who didn't suffer like you did, that didn't have it as hard as you isn't as valid as yourself. But what you don't realize is by having that belief you are excluding such a large portion of your community.
There's involuntary nonhumans who don't suffer from their identity at all and they're still part of our community.
The line between voluntary and involuntary can get blurry very quickly and hard to describe. But truly, you are no one to say who can use a label that rightfully describes their experiences.
Get real and truly think about why you're so upset at someone having a good faith identity.
Here's to proxy systems!
A proxy system is defined as "where one functions as a singlet (or approximately close to one[...]) due to a frontstuck host, yet members of the system are [...] distinct in headspace" [via Pluralpedia].
Shoutout to proxy systems who:
Are median
Have OSDD-1A or P-DID
Live life as a singlet most of the time, or only tell close loved ones about their system
Also identify as specutien
Didn't initially know they were a proxy system due to lack of information in plural spaces
Thought their system might've been something else at first, such as a kin system, or thought that they were just a singlet
Please know you are so important to us! You deserve as much place in the plural community as anyone else! Did you know how amazing you are? Well, now you do! It's going to be ok, and you'll get through anything you might be facing right now.
We love you!

Wanted to make a positivity post regarding some things that we see fake-claimed based on our experiences.
So shout out to systems who:
Are mostly fictives!
Can sometimes/frequently willingly switch!
Have low amnesia barriers!
Have little to no difference in how alters type/speak!
Aren't entirely sure about being a system!
Are certain in being a system!
Speak aloud more often then internally!
Have/had maladaptive daydreaming!
Split due to hyperfixations!
Have had alters fuse due to trauma!
Openly switch in public!
Split tons of headmates at once!
Have had some sort of communication since childhood!
Don't want to fuse!
Don't have access to their headspace memory!
Have triggers that pull alters OUT of front!
Believe your own experiences! If you feel like you might be plural, you probably are.
i may be a wolf but i will still meow at you
to put in as simply as i can. telling someone that you do not believe their experiences with themself, that science has yet to prove either way, saying that is inherently wrong ableist and that they don't actually know themselves, is not kind. no matter how you word it. people are allowed to take offense to that, and people have every right to not want to be around you after that.
A message to the younger members of the community, and those who doubt there place in it:
Beings don't care.
I went to a therian meet up over anthro northwest. And it was NOTHING like the current online spaces, especially all the discourse.
There was no fighting. It was beautiful. Beings were freely using whatever labels they wanted, no one cared "why" someone identified as something, mental, spiritual, physical. Everyone was like "Hey, cool!".
Older folks talked about their time in the community while the younger ones did quads. People howled, played with squeak toys. No one cared. And most importantly, everyone agreed the infighting was pointless.
You WILL be accepted irl. This discourse doesn't matter. You are going to find your beings, and none of these online pissing contests mean anything once you meet others off the screen.
It's a beautiful place out there.
May I present to the room the fictionflicker severity scale, designed based on past experiences:
Category 1: not even really quite a flicker, more like “a character I felt odd about” or maybe it was even just the source but who can say… It must have been the wind
Category 2: once it’s gone it’s gone and looking back on it now. I feel nothing. “A flicker I had”
Category 3 type A: one-time flicker that definitely had some lasting effect at least but revisiting the media gives a very diluted feeling, if any at all
Category 3 type B: one-time flicker that had like 0 impact on my life overall but revisiting would probably put me right back in where we left off
Category 4: recurring flicker, rewatching means reflickering, even if I haven’t touched the thing in years some things still manage to bring up old flicker feelings, we are now entering “one of my flickers” territory
Category 5: beyond level of recurring flicker, some mild background radiation level of brain presence is still consistent even outside of flickering them, this is “a fictotype I questioned” territory now
Category 6 type A: Oops! That’s You!
Category 6 type B: Oops! That’s Not You!
Its like, people can ask me "why do you like this flat, two-dimensional, obnoxious fictional character and read into them a complex and nuanced inner life, and not this other flat, two dimensional, obnoxious fictional character?"
But all I can respond is that one of them I know personally and understand as a fellow being with a rich inner life and many positive qualities, and the other is just a flat, two dimensional, obnoxious fictional character to me. 🤷
