A/N: I have always wanted to do something like this ever since I discovered Oda associates Law with this flower so here!!! Pairing: Law x reader CW: backstory spoilers if you squint its like super vague tho • masterlist • ko-fi • discord server •
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
It happens so rarely that you sometimes forget what it feels like. Law is a man of barriers built so high that you’ve lost count of the layers. And yet, Law, the Queen of the Night, blooms ever so rarely for you, and his guard falls. It’s never when you expect it. It could be at moments when the moon is at its highest and you two are sitting in comfortable silence, or it could be when the sun kisses your skin as you explore an island with the crew. Small and elusive moments, so fragile that you almost fear that they aren’t real.
“Have I told you about my parents?” There it is. The blooming of the flower that only dares to show its beauty in the most scarce moments.
It’s the kind of sentence that hands in the air suspended in time. You blink and your breath catches in your throat because you know better than to ask questions when it comes to him. You know that if you prod or push too hard, he’ll retreat back into that shell he’s so used to hiding in.
So you wait.
Law’s eyes are fixed on some distant point off across the room, as though he is seeing the very manifestation of something that no longer exists.
“They were good people. Doctors. Believed in saving lives… even when the world told them it was pointless.”
There’s a bitterness in his words that you can feel deep in your chest. He’s not talking about the heroism of their profession- no, this is something darker, something heavy that sits on his shoulders and is weighing heavily on him.
You stay silent, giving him space. You watch as the flower opens slowly, petal by petal, revealing its delicate center only when it feels safe.
“They didn’t deserve what happened to them,” he continues, voice cracking in a way that you know he wouldn’t allow on any other occasion. It’s a sound that feels too raw, too real, for someone of his nature.
His hand twitches against his leg, the muscle tensing as if fighting back the urge to hold something that isn’t there anymore. You want to reach out and touch him, but something holds you back. Not fear, no, but respect. You understand that these moments are a gift, and you don't show him pity or try to interrupt him, you just let him open up on his own accord.
“And when they died- my parents… sister… everyone…” He swallows, throat tightening as he struggles to get the words out. “I fell into a very dark place. One that I am not sure I have completely gotten away from.”
His words are jagged, straight from the depths of his soul and you wonder just how long he’s carried all of this with him, letting it fester in his mind waiting to be told to those who are patient enough to wait for him to be ready to say such things.
“What happened during that darkness- the man who brought me out of it…” he pauses once more, taking a shaky breath. “He’s the reason why I am doing all of this. He’s why I am even here.”
You don’t dare ask for details of the savior he speaks of, knowing that he will tell you when he’s ready. Tonight might not be the night, but you have already accepted that you won’t be getting all the details, but rather just a few pieces of the puzzle of his past that you ought to put together over time.
The flower will soon close again by morning and Law will soon put back up those walls, locking himself away for the unforeseeable future. So you savor what little time you have watching him blossom. You feel a sense of honor knowing that he trusts you enough to let you see this side of him, even if it’s just for tonight.
And even when the flower of his heart begins to close, you know deep down that it will bloom again. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not for a long time. But it will. And when it does, you’ll be right there, waiting, just like you are tonight.
Because that’s what it means to love him. To be patient. To wait. And to cherish every moment that the Queen of the Night blooms for you.
The commission that @dabislittlemouse did for me. Thanks so much friend!
I love your writing so much aaaa (ノ゚0゚)ノ
I need the monster trio's reaction to reader calling them "husband", could be an accident or intentional I just need it pls!!!! ( T﹏T )
pairings: monster trio x female reader
cw: reader is referred to as "wife", mention of suffocating/drowning in sanji's part, not proofread, probably contains grammar mistakes, english isn't my first language!!
wc: 1.3k+
— (a/n): tysm!! <33 i like writing for one piece characters so I love it when I get more requests for them >.< also, so sorry if this feels boring or short!! :(( -> m.list
— LUFFY
Luffy loves it when you introduce him to new people, but he's usually too distracted to pay attention. Until you call him your husband.
The moment the word leaves your mouth, his face lights up.
He repeats it INSTANTLY, grinning ear to ear. "Husband? That's me, right? You mean me?"
If you try to play it off and say it was a mistake, he ignores your protests and laughs. If he likes it, he likes it. And you're gonna keep calling him that, no matter what!!
He immediately starts calling you "wife" in return, but in the most casual way, like it's completely normal.
He doesn't fully understand what marriage means in a traditional sense, but to him, being your husband means you're his person.
If the crew hears about it, they all would have different reactions. Zoro snorts, Nami fights the urge to roll her eyes, and Sanji almost faints in disbelief.
Luffy, however, is completely unbothered.
If you tell him later that you only said it as a slip up, he just smiles and says "But you could mean it, right?"
He doesn't let it go. He starts using it as an excuse to do things for you. "Husbands have to share their food."
*Cue him stealing from your plate instead*
He loves how you blush when he casually refers to himself as your husband mid conversation.
If you ever genuinely called him that again, he'd get the biggest grin ever and he won't stop talking about it for hours.
He doesn't care about official ceremonies or rings. If you called him your husband once, that's enough for him.
You were introducing the crew to a kind old shopkeeper on an island, someone who had been chatting with you warmly for the past few minutes.
"Oh, and this is my husband, Luffy." You added casually, not even realizing it until the words were already out. You meant captain, not husband. At least that's what you wanted to believe.
Luffy blinked, tilting his head to the side, before a wide grin formed on his lips. "Yeah, that's me, I'm her husband!"
Wait, what? You froze, stiffened, locked in place. Did he seriously just agree?
The shopkeeper chuckled, a warm smile glued to their lips. "Well, aren't you two adorable? How long have you been married for?"
You opened your mouth to correct them, but Luffy beat you to it. "Long enough!" He answered confidently, throwing an arm around your shoulder.
You looked at him, eyes wide, stunned. He just grinned at you, completely unbothered. You sighed, deciding to let it go. For now.
— ZORO
Zoro is not the type to get flustered easily, but calling him your husband? Yeah, that'll do it.
He'd be calm on the outside, but on the inside, he's replaying that moment over and over again.
If you called him that in front of strangers, like introducing him as your husband to avoid weirdos, he'd immediately go along with it.
He doesn't see the need to correct you. If you called him that, then fine. That's what he is now.
If someone asked when you got married, he'll just say "None of your business." and move on.
He secretly enjoys watching you get flustered after realizing what you said, trying to cover it up and say it was just a small mistake.
"Didn't know you were that eager to make it official."
If Sanji overheard, it would be war. "YOU?! HOW DARE YOU–" "Shut up, cook. She said it herself."
He says "cook" as if it's a slur.
If you apologized later for the slip up, he would just simply shrug, saying that it's just some words, but the slight redness on his ears would say otherwise.
He wouldn't bring it up much, but if someone else called him your boyfriend or anything else, he'd correct them. "Husband." No explanation.
Zoro starts to lowkey like the title, but he would NEVER admit it.
He doesn't joke about things like this. If you seriously wanted to be with him in that way, he'd take it 100% seriously.
If you actually bring up the idea of marriage later, he's going to instantly agree.
He starts calling you "wife" just to mess with you!!
You were traveling through a town when an unfamiliar man started hitting on you. He was persistent, and you were quickly running out of patience.
Then, without thinking, you gestured toward Zoro. "Sorry, I'm here with my husband." You sighed as the man's gaze followed the direction you were pointing at.
You immediately regretted it. Zoro turned his head slightly, raising an eyebrow. The man scowled but backed off, muttering an apology before walking away.
You exhaled in relief, until you felt Zoro's gaze on you.
"Husband, huh?" He muttered, amused.
Your face burned, heart beat quickening. "I just said that to get rid of him."
The corners of Zoro's lips tugged upwards, forming a smirk. "Didn't mind it." He kept walking like nothing happened, leaving you flustered.
— SANJI
Sanji freezes completely the second you call him your husband.
For a split second, he actually imagined it. Being your husband. Starting a family. Then his brain shut down.
If you were introducing him to someone that way, he'd try to act normal, but would fail miserably. "Y-Yes, that's right, I'm her– her– her husband, yes–"
His heart would be racing.
If you called him that to avoid someone flirting with you, he'd immediately play along, but also fall deeply in love with you all over again.
If you told him later it was just a slip up, a small and meaningless mistake, he would dramatically explain the feelings he had in that very second. "For a moment, I lived in paradise."
He would start calling you "my wife" at every opportunity. "Oh, my darling wife, allow me to–" "Sanji, stop."
If someone else flirted with you after that, he's quick to place himself in the middle of you and the other person. "I'm her husband, thanks."
I swear bro this man is SO sassy.
Sanji would start daydreaming about an actual wedding. He also gets more protective than usual, standing a little closer, guiding you with a hand on your back.
If you genuinely meant it, he'd be the happiest man alive.
He swears to be the best husband in the world, treat you amazingly, kiss the ground you walk on.
Sanji will never, ever forget the moment you called him that. The moment you called him your husband. Those words remain imprinted in his mind, locked in a special place.
You were in a crowded restaurant, and the waiter was getting a little bit too flirty for your liking. So, without thinking, you immediately decided to shut him down, but not directly. "My husband will have the same order as me."
Sanji knocked over his glass of water, almost choking as he coughed severely. You turned to see him frozen, eyes wide, face completely red. You groaned, pinching your nose bridge. Here we go...
"Say it again, love." Sanji literally sparkled, practically glowing. His eyes held a childish shine, which you couldn't help but describe as adorable.
You sighed. "It was just–"
"Say it again."
You buried your face in your hands, already feeling your heart beat increasing. Gosh, why did he have to be so handsome?
"Sanji, stop." You mumbled, resting your chin in your palm, elbow propped up on the table.
"My darling wife, please–"
"Sanji I swear that if you don't stop this, I will hold you down underwater and watch you suffocate."
"I wouldn't mind that one bit. Dying by your hands is an honor, sweetheart." He winked, smiling as he leaned in closer, giving you a soft kiss on the lips.
He drove you insane. But in the best way possible.

characters. zoro, law, sanji, ace
note. i haven't write with those boys since so long but i'm so back in one piece so be ready to see them! please request with anyone from one piece <3
Zoro
you might be the only one not aware of what is going on between him and you
he doesn’t care much though, it’s fine by him to stay like this
he’s always keeping an eye on you during a fight, just to be sure
he knows you can defend yourself well, but he can’t help it
he lets you steal his food without arguing much, which is weird because he tries to kill Luffy each time he tries
the crew teases him about it but he brushes them off everytime
he’s a big shy boy, but he just doesn’t care if anyone knows about his feelings for you
he has a huge soft spot for you and he doesn’t even tries to hide it
there’s no real realization because he knows why he’s doing this
he would die for anyone in the crew, but he would definitely burn the world down if you asked him to
Law
realization hits HARD
he’s not the type to show a lot of emotion, at least he wasn’t until he began to travel with the strawhats
and you? you get him stressed
he didn’t realize it until robin pointed it to him
maybe she wasn’t wrong, but no way he would admit it like this
yes he lets you stay around him a lot, even allowing you to touch him without complaining too much
and yes you’re always stealing his coat when you’re cold and he doesn’t bother him
but falling for you? no way
he can’t be falling for someone, especially not you
yet, he can’t take the idea out of his mind since robin’s words
he notices the way you scrunch your nose when you smile
or how your face lights up at the idea of visiting a new island
you’re adorable, and his heart can’t take it
damn, maybe he’s down bad finally
Sanji
he loves women so much so his behavior isn’t questioned a lot at first
he’s a simp, it’s not weird that he’s treating you better than anyone else
until he began to prioritize you over everyone else
even the other girls
makes your favorite dessert all the time
even asks you what you want to eat and does his best to make it with what he have
nami is the first one to talk about it, and he feels his heart stop at the thought
is he really in love? like, real love
he’s a romantic guy, that’s it, he can’t be feeling those things
he can’t, right?
but the way you’re so gentle with him, never pushing him away when he treats you like the most precious thing on the sea
well, he realizes he might feel something more for you
Ace
the boy is blind, even more than you are
he’s naturally clingy and touchy with people, a joyful boy
yet, he seems worse with you
he always keeps an arm around your shoulder, talking you about his dear brother a lot
when he falls asleep out of nowhere, it’s usually on your shoulder or even falling on your back
the day he was drunk and put his hat on top of your head? everyone knew it was over
if anyone tries to tell him about it, he just stays with his eyes open wide in shock
he blinks a few times, slowly processing the words
a shrug of shoulders and he just accepts it like this
fine, perhaps he’s in love, but so what?
he doesn’t change anything, it just means he can be even closer to you than before
thank you!
As a writer, whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or expert, you've likely heard about the importance of creating "relatable and realistic conflicts." This advice appears in almost every writing guide. Yes, it's crucial.
However, this recurring statement might seem vague. Let's break down what these terms mean. We'll discuss how to create conflicts in your style that work, and what can lead to the opposite results.
✧✧✧✧
This is a flexible guide, not a strict set of rules. Let's begin.
✧✧✧✧
First, relatability is different from realism, at least in this context.
Relatability offers an experience that people have gone through before. They can easily identify it as something that happens.
Realism, on the other hand, can be a fresh experience or something entirely fantastical. Here's the catch: it must stay true to your setting and plot. For example, in a fantasy setting, your conflict could be the protagonist's dragon falling sick on the eve of a big race.
In the real world, we have no dragons. But in your setting, your situation with this creature feels real. Now consider an instance where we have intelligent insects with no apparent reason or explanation. This is an example of an unrealistic conflict that doesn't align with its setting. It's either you adjust a few things in the settings or adjust the conflict that stems from their intelligence or is solved by it.
Now that we've established that, let's consider what to keep in mind when writing conflicts.
Conflicts can be resolved instantly or extend further. They can begin your story, occur during it, or happen after a sweet moment.
Where is your world set? This matters a lot! You can use our real-life world but still create your own rules, as long as you make that clear. Your conflict could come off as both realistic and relatable. However, where you have a total no is when your world is the normal world we know, with no changes, and your conflicts are unrealistic and unrelated.
You have such examples in some Bollywood movies. No offense to anyone in love with these movies. This is just a case study for clarification purposes.
Think of the fight scenes. The physical conflicts often stem from a grander conflict. You'll understand where I'm coming from.
How long will this conflict last in your story? Earlier, I mentioned lasting conflict and fleeting conflict. The former helps create more meaning for your plot. The latter adds excitement that drives the plot forward.
Sometimes, the resolution to your conflict can render it meaningless, even after you've nailed the creation. Resolve your conflict in agreement with your plot.
Conflict ideas sometimes come naturally as you write your story. I remember when I wrote high school stories, conflicts came to me as I wrote, but this doesn't happen every time. Sometimes, I knew I needed something more exciting and less predictable.
For example, it's common for a new female student to be rivaled by the school's most popular girl. This is usually because of the love interest—the most popular guy in school. But what if they become best friends, and the love interest turns out to be the popular girl's brother?
She mistakes the protagonist's friendship with a different guy as cheating, and the feeling of betrayal turns them against each other. This twist offers a fresh take on the usual antagonizing characters. It could make your story more interesting. This time the antagonist is doing what she feels is in her brother's favour not herself.
This is slightly similar to the above. The difference is that it deals directly with the characters themselves, not just the conflict they face. The actions towards the conflict give the situation meaning.
What do you aim to achieve with your conflict? Do you wish to entertain, hook the readers, drive the plot forward, or introduce a new object or character? It's best to aim for two at a time. Trying to achieve all in a single conflict could lead to complications.
Which conflict have you read in a book that made you wish you wrote it?

✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Loving Ace is like chasing the sunset knowing you cant ever quite catch it, but still, you run because the colors that it paints across the sky are worth every step. He’s like that- unreachable at times, always running far ahead and driven by something deeper that you can’t quite understand. But when he stops and lets you catch up, the moments that he shares with you feel like the most precious things in the world.
Loving Ace is waking up to the warmth of his body curled protectively around you like he’s protecting you from the horrors of the world, even when he’s the one who needs protecting. His arms are tight around you even in his unconscious state like he’s afraid you’ll slip away, like he doesn’t quite believe that he deserves to have something so precious.
Loving Ace also means understanding the darkness that lurks behind that bright smile of his. It’s recognizing that beneath his playful and laid-back exterior, lies a heart burdened by doubt, insecurity, and the heavy weight of a bloodline he never asked for. Loving him is realizing that sometimes he needs to burn brighter than ever to hide that coldness that sometimes creeps up from inside, that there are days when his flames flicker, and that he needs someone to remind him that he is worth every ounce of love that the world has to give.
Loving Ace is kissing him in the dead of the night, his lips hot, burning with the same fire that makes up his very essence. It’s as if he is pouring everything that he feels into that one moment. It’s desperate, passionate, a release of all the things that he feels, hoping that he can convey them with this one action. And he only pulls away when you both are starved for air, both of you breathless, lips ghosting over yours, the gesture leaving your heart racing in a picture-perfect moment.
Loving Ace is seeing the world through his eyes- a world where freedom is the ultimate prize, where loyalty is learned through actions, not words, and where family is everything. It’s understanding that to love him is to love his crewmates, his brothers, and everyone else he has chosen to protect. Though his heart is shared with many, there’s a part of it that’s just for you, a part that no one else gets to touch.
Loving Ace is feeling the thrill of his warm hands on your skin, the way he touches you as if he is committing every part of you to memory. His fingers dance along the flesh, tracing toasty trails along the way, and when his lips follow in soft and teasing pecks, it’s enough to send a shiver down your spine. He pulls you closer, planting kisses across every surface he can reach until he finally lands on your lips, kissing you deeply, savoring the feeling.
Loving Ace is a rollercoaster with many twists, turns, and drops. It's unpredictable, thrilling, and filled with moments that take your breath away and moments that terrify you. But no matter how far he runs, no matter how erratic those flames burn, you’ll always find your way back to each other. Because when it comes to love, Ace doesn’t do things halfway. When he loves, he loves with everything he has and you feel it in every glance, every touch, every breath, every shared moment.
Loving Ace is standing beside him watching the sunset, hand in hand, knowing that you have a love that will last a lifetime. He is your endgame. Ace is the love of your life and that love will only grow day by day as you two face life together. And as the night falls, as the stars above mirror those freckles that dot the face of the man besides you, you know that this love- this wild, fierce, and all-consuming love- will carry you through anything.

9. The oppressive air pressed down on them.
