Hi, I’ve been creating characters for some stories and some of them are a part of the LGBTQ+ community. I need some help properly representing them, especially gender identities. I’m not very familiar with gender identities, except the names and basic concepts. But I want to learn and make sure I’m writing my LGBTQ+ characters with care and proper representation.
Here are the specific characters:
-A trans man
-A trans woman
-A genderfluid person
-A non-binary person

I’ve been publishing some stories on AO3 for like a year now, and I’m having trouble updating them. Not updating them gives me pressure because there are many people who like it and I feel bad for not updating for so long. I’m going through school and it’s consuming all my time. Also, I have trouble writing because of my perfectionism and belief that I’m not a good enough writer. I constantly compare myself to others, such as how long my story is and how many likes there are. It’s annoying and unhealthy.
I want to stop these habits and have a healthier mindset. Can I have some advice on how to do that please?
Can I also have advice on:
-What to do when you have writer’s block
-How to write the beginning of chapters
-How to stop striving so hard for perfection
Thank you to anyone who answers or likes! 😁💕
The question: what are you thinking about?
My answer:
headcanons for my characters
or
something really existential to the point that it disturbs the average person, including myself
Sometimes it’s both!
why is it that I have a document for random scenes that appear at some point, and the first one is a character having a crisis over a dead person? to be fair, they watched the person die, and then have to tell that person’s family about their death, but why is that the first scene in the document?
Shit I’ve looked up for writing purposes
-Coronations and how they work
-How much do famous actors make?
-What an adversary is
-What regalia are
-Meteor hammers
-Armor for meteor hammers
-Chromium, and can it be used for armor
-The International Phonetic Alphabet
-Where is chromium found?
-Two-handed swords
-Different types of daggers
-Plants with symbolism
-How to write emotional turmoil
-How to write mental breakdowns
-Survivor’s guilt
-The definition of emotional manipulation
-The definition of gaslighting
-The concept of wuxing and the character traits associated with each element
-Character traits associated with each zodiac in Asian mythology
-Monkey’s paw
-Real-life locations
-Money conversions
-Possible ways for people to act when drunk
-Blade lengths for different weapons
-How to make ship names
Something I love about writing fantasy that includes multiple nations/kingdoms/cultures is the small character interactions between people from different places
An example from my own work is the way two people from different kingdoms drink tea. One puts the leaves in the cup and pours the hot water over it, and the other steeps the leaves in the pot. The one who has the leaves in the cup always explained it as “if someone doesn’t want tea, they can have hot water instead.” And the other kind of just, watches thinking, “this is odd, but it’s genius”
So yeah, cultural differences lead to fun character interactions
(I deal with this irl through teaching my white friends how to eat Asian food)
Intro!
Hi! I’m not revealing my actual name on here, but y’all can call me Azre! I use they/them pronouns mainly, but am fine with anything that isn’t she/her.
I enjoy theatre, acting, drawing (mostly digital), Dungeons & Dragons, writing, singing (somewhat), and language learning.
My first language is English, but I do speak some Spanish and am learning French. (If anyone wants to talk in either of those but can still talk in English I’d enjoy that!)
I can’t be the only one who does this
okay, so. I have my main wip, but it’s barely my main any more because of an AU I created of my own work.
I also make headcannons of the characters, forgetting I’m the creator.
Having multiple wips be like:
Morning: Oh, that’s a good idea for wip 1!
midday: wait, I should work on wip 2’s plot, I have ideas
afternoon: *thinking about random scenarios for wip 3*
evening: What wip is this for again? Meh, I’ll figure it out
If anyone asks me what I’m writing, I will say nothing. But in a conversation that I can use to talk about my writing, I will take that opportunity.
That feeling when you research/write a lot about something that’s only going to be mentioned for a sentence for so
When in doubt, stay away from the main story and think about what those other random OCs of yours can do, accidentally make an entire story for them, want to write it into its own book/series, and finally realize there’s no plot. The only reason you haven’t done anything else with them is because you don’t want to get rid of them. Writer issues.
This post is a joke
I can finally listen to my peers say “Merry Christmas” without feeling the urge to correct them, watch Christmas ads and listen to Christmas music without saying, “it’s still November, not yet.”
Tis(n’t) the season
When I say I’m writing what I really mean is I’m thinking about the prologue and second half of the plot in extreme detail before considering the idea of what happens in the beginning, coincidentally making it so I get nothing done.
Me, in reference to a D&D character: He’s just a little guy!
Normal Person: That “little guy” could easily kill you. He’s not even that short
Me: Leave me and my little depressed tiefling alone!
When the normal brain says sleep but the neurodivergent brain says “okay, but…” and proceeds to give a fuck ton of ideas to fill in p(l)otholes in the book
they work half the time. It would also be useful if I could remember them. And which story they belong to out of the three I haven’t abandoned yet
Person I’m talking about my writing to: That’s so cool! Can I see it?
Me: the thing is…. It’s spread over ten documents that I haven’t touched in like, six months and I’ve been super focused on making the magic system work so some characters aren’t complete gods because of lucky family lineage.
Person: …
Me: And I haven’t actually started writing the plot.
Why…
I can imagine what I want to write and how I want it to go, but words simply cannot be manifested onto the page.
so I’m left with the dreaded blinking cursor. A line that stares at me without mercy, mocking me, taunting me, temping me to write when it knows I can’t.
“Start writing”
Hah, no.
“Why not?”
I will, absolutely will against my will, revise and edit as I write, so I write the total of multiple chapters but it ends up being only one and half chapters. I fucking hate it
Is really difficult. Give yourself a break every once in a while. I’ve been on break from starting writing my main wip for over a year, and I still procrastinate the hell out of it. Writing takes time. Let it happen on its own

When you are born
you are given two things,
heart and mind.
From little age you are told:
"Be careful with the heart,
it is a fragile thing. "
"Sharpen and strengthen your mind,
for it will serve you right. "
But no one tells you,
how fragile mind can be,
how easily it breaks
and how tough one's heart is,
how hard it is to get inside.
No one talks about the way
they work so closely together.
No one could say
the truth about their bond.
No one tells you
how it hurts when one breaks.
Just one thing they let you know:
"Be kind. For it is your shield and your sword."
But how can that be,
when your arms are trembling
and your eyes are filled with water?
For that second time stopped. Their eyes meeting in an everlasting moment. Breathing slowed as those pairs of brown eyes met each other for that infinite moment. Love at first sight may not exist, but for that moment those two strangers felt a magic. And cruel faith must be for their paths were never to cross again.
Me, my mind, and sad thoughts
hello everyone! this is going to be a rdr2 writing blog. this was an old account but i decided to finally use it!
i will be taking requests, or even just answering asks if you want to talk! i will be writing for rdr2 and will write basically anything as long as it doesn't make me uncomfortable (if it does, i'll say it). i think i can try writing smut but i don't have a lot of experience.
as for the characters, i will write for as many as i can, but i have to admit i would feel more at ease with the main characters, as they're the ones i know best. also, it is obvious but i won't write anything romantic about characters who are children. this is obvious but i still feel the need to clarify it..
english is not my first language, but i really love writing and will try to do my best to write well.
the x reader fic i read on WATTPAD was the most beautifully written fiction piece i’ve ever seen. the detail. the realistically portrayed emotions.
reblog if you’ve read fanfictions that are more professional, better written than some actual novels. I’m trying to see something
so real for this
the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.
if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.
I can't write more than 200 words without needing to close wattpad entirely and leaving it to simmer for 4 hours 😭
me, having no inspiration to write in my wip:
also me, writing inspiring things on tumblr for other young writers: do you hear something? procrastination who? sips tea
