Please. Please, she can’t die, Vi begged it. I don’t want that. If you care about us at all, you won’t let her die because I chose wrong again. The tether was quiet for what felt like an eternity as the world around them dimmed, but then it hummed in fearful understanding and acquiescence. Caitlyn opened her eyes, feeling something pull on her side of the tether. “Vi?” she whispered questioningly. The tether pulsed hesitantly at Vi, as if asking if she was sure. Do it, Vi pleaded.

When Caitlyn reached the bottom of the staircase, she approached Vi with a smirk. “I know I said you have a thick head, but I don’t believe it is so thick that I have to remind you to breathe.” Vi, who had started to feel a little lightheaded, realized she had, indeed, stopped breathing. She inhaled sharply, feeling her heart protesting the lack of oxygen in her chest—that was the only reason it was pounding, Vi told herself. The Zaunite cleared her throat and said. “You look good, Cupcake.” Vi mentally cringed at how awkward she sounded. Caitlyn let out a light laugh. “Thank you, Vi. You clean up rather handsomely yourself,” she said, not even bothering to hide the way she slowly looked down and back up Vi’s suit. More than Vi’s ears turned hot.
Vi finds something strange at Jayce's laboratory. The evening of the Kiramman Gala has arrived.
The next chapter of “Tethered” is something else you guys. I really hope you like it! It gets intense!
I'll do my best to get one more chapter out this weekend, but I really want to make sure I get this next one in particular right. I work weekends and I have an overnight trip planned Sunday-Monday, so there might not be another update until next week. Trust me everyone, it'll be worth it!
I figure posting over 75,000 words in two weeks has earned me a little leeway and good will 😅🤣 maybe I'll post a snippet to keep you guys fed until it's finished, but no promises
Turns out writing a spy story is hard 🤣 I have spent half the morning and a few hours last night trying to figure out getting something to work in “Low Lays the Devil in Me.” This one is a bit harder to make up as I go. I was worried I had boxed myself into a corner, but I have a plan now!
“I don’t want to lose you,” she quietly confessed. Caitlyn’s eyes grew incredibly soft and her brow drew down in mournful understanding. “Oh, darling,” she whispered and pulled Vi into her. Vi crawled into Caitlyn’s lap as the other girl entangled her fingers in Vi’s hair and ran her hand up and down her back. “You won’t. Just because we get rid of the tether doesn’t mean we have to stop seeing each other.” Vi let out a watery scoff. “Cait, I’m just some trencher from the Undercity. You’re a councilor’s daughter.” “I don’t care, Violet,” Caitlyn replied tersely. “I’m not going to let the divide between our cities take you away from me. Not after this. I promise, I refuse to allow it.”

Vi and Caitlyn finally discuss the tether and make a promise to one another.
I didn't expect to love writing "Tethered" as much as I am! This Arcane bond between Caitlyn and Vi is so much fun to explore as is the more antagonistic relationship between them. An enjoyable deviation from Low Lays the Devil where they're madly in love 😂
“Violet, don’t you dare. You are disgusting,” Caitlyn said, backing up. A bead of sweat dripped from Vi’s chin as she grinned impishly. “I thought you liked me all sweaty, Cupcake,” she said. Caitlyn saw Powder wrinkle her nose and utter a quiet, “ew.” “Violet,” Caitlyn said warningly, but before she could blink, Vi darted forward and wrapped her powerful arms around Caitlyn and lifted her off her feet, rubbing her drenched face all over Caitlyn’s. Caitlyn let out a half delighted, half disgusted shriek and pulled her head back away from Vi, but couldn’t fight her off with her arms pinned to her side. Caitlyn was strong, but she had nothing on Vi’s strength and knew she would never be able to push Vi off of her if Vi didn’t want to let go. “Release me at once, Violet,” she cried out, but the annoyance she tried to convey was belayed by the stupid grin that she knew pulled at her lips. Vi immediately let go, her own smile almost blinding. “I’m so sorry, princess,” she said, then gave Caitlyn a sweet kiss to emphasize her apology.

Caitlyn has a few difficult conversations.
I know I just put out the new chapter for "Tethered," but I'm extra excited for the next one. It's a completely new one, besides the prologue, of this rewrite.
Hi Caitlyn Kirammans.I've read chapter 14 of "Low Lays the Devil in Me," and there's a threatening line Smeech gives Caitlyn about damaging one of her eyes before she takes her to meet the Chembarons, which really caught my attention.
Later in the story, will Caitlyn get her eyepatch? How did it happen at the end of "Arcane?"
I saw your posts on your Tumblr account and you showed me a soundtrack to accompany the story of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" (very interesting, actually ☺️). So:
Would you put up a soundtrack album to accompany readers while they read "Heart Made of Glass, My Mind of Stone"? (If you're interested)
Greetings ♥️♥️
I won’t say if she gets the eyepatch cuz I honestly don’t know yet. Given that Jinx and Caitlyn are parallel characters in the show, this scene fits Caitlyn well, even if it’s directly inspired by the one with Smeech and Jinx in season 2. So I haven’t decided yet if Caitlyn still loses her eye.
The link below is what I listened to a lot of while writing “Heart Made of Glass.” I have a YouTube premium account so I’ll listen to stuff like this a lot on a loop.
