Turns out writing a spy story is hard đ€Ł I have spent half the morning and a few hours last night trying to figure out getting something to work in âLow Lays the Devil in Me.â This one is a bit harder to make up as I go. I was worried I had boxed myself into a corner, but I have a plan now!
She shifted her weight between her feet and wrung her fingers together. Cassandra, ever observant, furrowed her brow. âCaitlyn, is something wroâ" âCan we talk?â Caitlyn blurted out, rudely interrupting her matriarch. She flushed at her inability to control her mouth and forced herself to speak more calmly. âWhen I get back, I mean?â Cassandra, who had been surprised by Caitlynâs outburst, blinked in confusion. âTalk?â she parroted. Caitlyn nodded, the lump in her throat made it difficult to form words around. Her mother must have seen somethingâsomething differentâin her eyes as Caitlyn noticed she had stopped breathing. âOf course, Caity. Whenever youâre free, Iâll be here.â

Caitlyn fakes Mohanâs death and reads him in on their mission.
Hi :) just wanted to say that I absolutely adored your fic! It's probably been my favourite caitvi fic ever!
I don't want to rush you but do you have a time frame on when you think the sequel will come? đ«¶đ»đ«¶đ»
Favorite!?!? Thank you so much đ„č đ
So the plan is to go through the first fic's chapters and clean some things up. Get rid of some lines that don't make sense with where the story ended up going or taking out things I never actually addressed--none of which will change the plot or characters.
Then I am going to flesh out the sequel a little bit. Make sure I have the first few chapters planned out before writing the first one (and by fleshed out, I really just mean a sentence or two summarizing what I want to be done in that chapter) and write down the main goals of our antagonists. But I'm going to continue to write the main plot on the fly, as I did with Heart Made of Glass, since that really worked out for me for the first fic. Fingers crossed it works on this one, too!
Hopefully, this will only take a week max and then a few days to write the first chapter. I already have a very clear idea of what the first chapter of the sequel will look like, so it shouldn't take long once I actually get started on it.
Chapter Summary: Vander has to leave for a few days and Vi needs to bring Powder with her to Jayce's. Caitlyn opens up a little to Vi.
In order to avoid time in Stillwater Prison, Vi must complete community service after getting caught stealing from Jayce Talis, the protĂ©gĂ© of the wealthy and intelligent Councilor Cassandra Kiramman. Instead of spending her nights working at The Last Drop and her days looking after her siblings in Zaun, she now has to be the errand girl to one of the most powerful people in Piltover. However, Vi soon realizes that something isnât right. What secret project is Jayce working on? Why does the councilor keep sending Vi on strange assignments? And why wonât Caitlyn Kiramman leave Vi alone about what life is like in Zaun? Something is festering in the underbelly of both cities and Vi is beginning to suspect that the Kirammans know more than anyone realizes. OR A story of what could have happened if Hextech was never invented (with some liberties taken with both LoL and Arcane canon).
âThey-uh, they would have been,â Vi said as evenly as she could. âThey died several years ago.â Tobiasâ eyes melted into a swirl of sympathy. âOh, Iâm so sorry, Vi.â Vi did her best to keep a neutral face. The Kirammans may not have pulled the trigger on her parents, but they still played a role in their deaths and they didnât even realize it. The anger and resentment she hadâwould probably always haveâflared up. She looked up and saw Caitlyn give her an encouraging smile. Then there was this girl. Who was trying her best to convince Vi that she did want whatâs best for Zaun, that she wanted to help. Could one person do it? Vi wondered. Her parents were one of many revolutionaries and they failed. But they tried changing things from the bottom up. Could it happen from the top down?
If youâre wondering what my google search has looked like the last few months, itâs this.
writing really is just googling synonyms. that's it. just a constant carousel of "I used this word two paragraphs ago, what is another word for this word"
Alright everyone, the results are in and the "Tethered" rewrite will happen. There were also 13 votes for either yes or do what you want in the comment section of the chapter for "Tethered" that I put up asking people to vote or leave a comment if they don't have tumblr. Thank you everyone who voted and for all the kind words that you'll read anything I write, regardless of what happens.
I will keep the old "Tethered" story up for those who like this current version. I will mark it "abandoned" in the title and I will turn off comments on it, too. I will link the new rewrite in the chapter one notes when it comes out as well as in put the link in a new chapter update so that anyone who is subscribed to the story will know when the new version comes out.
I will say that I will write the first few chapters to see how I like the back and forth POVs. If I don't like it, then the story will be from Vi's POV exclusively. I am wondering if this will actually be a two part series and I could do what I did with my "Rebel Heart" series and have the first one be from Vi's POV and the second from Caitlyn's. We'll have to see.
Since I saw where the votes were going, I started the rewrite and have finished the prologue that I've written for it. When I'm ready, I'll post the prologue and the first chapter at the same time. I'm really excited to share this world and really do think I can do a much better job at writing an intense love story between these two characters. Hopefully I can get this out soon.
For what it's worth, the new version of this story will be both very different and very similar. I will copy and paste several scenes and maybe even whole chapters from the old fic into the rewritten one, but I strongly suggest everyone who wants to read this version of the story read through every familiar scene, as you never know what I will choose to change. The premise will still remain the same, for the most part. I will just slow the pace down, probably considerably, and go much more in depth into the actual tether itself.
Finally, I'll be sure to do a proper dedicated shout out to artist somewillwin in both the first post for this story and in the fic notes since I realized a bit ago that I was drawing inspiration from their artwork without fully realizing it.
Thanks for reading this long post! Read you guys soon!
Iâve had a theory that one of your ancestors put a mind control substance in the water that makes it impossible to dislike the ~Kirammans~ caitlynkirammansrifle's fanfic.
I'm convinced it's true ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ lol
Hey everyone. So do not worry! This isn't me saying I'm not going to keep writing Heart Made of Glass (I have 1000 words written of the next chapter) but now that holidays are over, I might not be as quick on the draw for chapter updates.
The main reason, if anyone wants to know, is that I am dungeon master for 2 dnd games. We only play 4 times a month, but as the DM, I have outside planning/prep to do for the games. It doesn't take long, but in combination with the games themselves, it might slow down my writing of this fic a little, but not by much! For example, today I have a rare Sunday off of work, but I have dnd tonight and I have to prep for it, which might take an hour or two that I won't have for writing and even potentially editing (which can sometimes take as long as writing the actual chapter). So the next chapter might go out tomorrow instead of today. But we'll see!
Thanks, everyone!
P.S. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to do both, but I don't want to burn out. Slower updates are better than no updates
P.P.S. some people have asked/been saying they've been impressed with the near machine like way I've been able to put out "high quality content" (to quote one of you) so quickly. I absolutely attribute a great deal of that to dnd and being a dungeon master. Maybe I'll make a separate post about that one day since I think it has helped my actual writing and the process so much, which makes me wonder if anyone else feels that way.
Caitlyn ignored the stares and gasps of the people on the streets of Piltover as she sprinted past them. She knew she must look a wreck. Bruised and scraped from the battle at Stillwater and now drenched in blood while carrying a rifle was not how any of them had ever seen the Princess of Piltover before, but Caitlyn didnât care. The panic that clawed at her throat helped her ignore the exhausted muscles in her legs and arms and the slightly foggy sensation in her brain from the effects of the drug and no sleep. Still, she couldnât fail. Wouldnât. She could still hear Maddieâs voice, after all this time since Bloodcliff, pushing her to be betterâto do better. âCombat is won when you find the will to overcome your own weakness. You have to want itâneed itâmore than your enemies. Tell me, Kiramman, do you want to win? Need to win?â There was never a time when Caitlyn needed something more. The lives of every person she's ever cared about were on the line, and she could not fail.

The final showdown.
out of curiosity â do you think youâll ever do a chapter in Low Lays the Devil in Me or a separate fic detailing Viâs POV while in Stillwater? (Not that Iâm complaining about a Cait-focused fic â sheâs my fave character & I love angsty storylines in her POV!)
(also just wanted to say that I absolutely love both fics! theyâre easily my comfort fics and one of the best ones iâve ever read. any time thereâs an update it instantly makes my day đ«¶)
Hi! I'm so glad you like and I love that it makes your day!!! â€ïžđ
I don't know if I'll do a POV chapter of Vi in Stillwater. I do promise that her time in there will not be swept under the rug! I could either do a POV chapter a bit later or do a separate fic like I did for some of the non-Vi centered scenes in "Heart Made of Glass: Perspectives." Since I'm making up 75% of this as a I go long, it's hard to say yes or no explicitly to anything. Not ruling it out, but no promises either.
