If you watched the Harrychella 1 live stream, you probably noticed Harry's special guest during Late Night Talking (not Shania!):
Who is she?
I think I have an idea...
My first thought was some kind of fertility idol or Venus statue. Didn't find anything particularly close.
Then I saw a picture that made it click:
Notice Harry biting into the apple? It could have biblical connotations: Eve's temptation. So I looked for a statue depicting it.
What I found instead was this:
Venus with the Apple by Thorvaldsens.
All the gods of Classical Greek mythology were invited to a party, except for Eris, the goddess of strife. She had her revenge by throwing a golden apple with the inscription “To the fairest goddess” in among the party guests. But who the fairest of the goddesses was could not be agreed on. Therefore the choice was given to the earthly son of a king, Paris. The choice was between Juno, Minerva and Venus, and it was the latter, goddess of beauty and love, who won and received the apple. The sculpture depicts Venus after the beauty contest. With one hand she grips the clothes on the tree stump to put them back on. With the other she holds the token of beauty up to her admiring gaze.
look familiar? I think this is what we are seeing on stage.
Interestingly, she disappears as Harry sings "Now you're in my life, I can't get you off my mind, I won't even try"
Perhaps she's in his mind? Like a daydream?
There's more to be said here, no doubt, but for now I just wanted to share this little find. <3
