A ‘Captive Prince x A Song of Ice and Fire’ AU

He is skilled, he is hot-blooded, he collects his bastards like stray kittens - and he is the Prince of Dorne. But even somebody like Damianos Martell can manage to step into a nest of vipers. He did exactly that when he accidentally crippled the eldest Tyrell son, Auguste, in a tournament, pissing off the whole lot of Highgarden. Auguste Tyrell is not only their heir, but one of the last Blackfyres through his maternal line. And some people want to believe it wasn’t an accident at all…

Despite the rumours and his family bearing a deep grudge against the Martells, Auguste and Damianos quickly became friends after the accident. Even his little brother, Laurent, eventually warmed up after endless months of vicious stares. Tyrell’s little rose turns out to be brilliantly witty, more thorns than petals. Yet, he blushes prettily whenever Auguste teases him with an embarrassing childhood story, in which Laurent thought for the longest time (because of the old Targaryen/Blackfyre traditions) he is to marry his own brother as a grown up, telling every adult complimenting him that he is already promised. The Dornish prince cannot help but to grow fond of the brothers.

Years later, Damianos emerges victoriously in another tournament and is to crown his Queen of Love and Beauty. There’s a flood of shocked gasps going through the crowd when he places the winter roses on Laurent Tyrell’s head, the flowers as blue as his eyes. “Why,” Damianos proclaimes, “it’s all the grace and courtesy he deserves.”

Since then, Damianos has had quite the reputation for letting tournaments turn out scandalously!

I was a little frustrated that I couldn't get the polish captive prince special editions 😔 (And the new US covers weren’t out yet, but I will definetly get those now!!)

So I went: 'Fine. I'll do it myself."

I don't know what got into me, but I started to add more and more to this and it ended up taking me 60 hrs 💀

Still not satisfied with everything (especially the font and frame) but it's ok, maybe I'll come back to that a little later ✨️

yes !! omg i love when i discover people who are in multiple of my fandoms !! i started reading FENCE first and loved it so much (bc im also an epee fencer yippee) so i decided to read other books by pacat which lead me to discover capri (dark rise is also super good), and it has been one of my main fandoms for a year now,, im so normal about it !!

aftg i discovered a couple months ago from a book suggestions post on tumblr. and i never thought it would be something id be into at first (since i kind of read fantasy fiction exclusively) but this book turned my entire fucking world upside down im so obsessed and i have not stopped yapping about it yes it has absolutely made me cry multiple times bc its such a complex book with so many layers to it and akldfhjkajdljhg ill eat myself.

Akelios was a land filled with some ancient magic with mythological creatures like elves and such. Vere once had this races as well but some seal makes it impossible to use magic and makes this creatures invisible to the common’s eye

What if captive prince was settled in a Forgotten realms- like world? Maybe it is a part of Faerun that has been cut off from the outside world?

Akelion population that is not human is accepted as normal, Damianos knows and talks this creature’s tongues and has some magic bases, also I picture him as very charmed by those creature’s costumes and is very beloved by them. Maybe this magic inhabitants played a role in Kastor’s defeat?

MaYbE Kastor, as the absolute asshole he is, commanded killed many of the magic folks, much like Nilfgaard in the Witcher.

Like imagine; Damianos has just arrived to a very old ruins, injured and Laurent almost dead bc ✨some shit✨and some fairies come to him to help and Laurent gets healed by them and just stands there speechless like ‘wtf??? Damen?? What is this??’

Maybe Laurent saw some of this creatures as a kid and the seal was created by some resentful mage to prevent the Regent from using magic?? Maybe??

I know very classical fantasy bui I WILL BE WRITING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS-

The „brown one“ is actually more inspired by Greek people and Australian natives, the author herself has heritage there. He is often drawn w darker skin color but actually described as having olive skin. The actual relationship does not take place when one of the characters is enslaved. The light skinned man is against slavery, the POC nation is the one that keeps slaves (in the beginning) regardless of their nationality. The slavery itself is the result of personal revenge against the enslaved man since he killed his brother. It’s a whole story arc that the supporter of slavery gets rid of it in his country after experiencing it first hand. Yes the books feature dark and uncomfortable topic. But they are in no way romanticised or getting approved by the main characters in the story. The first book is way more darker than the following ones btw. The featured art work depicts scenes from later books or after canon and are compatible with their depiction in the book. You are obviously allowed to have your own opinion and to dislike the story. But I really don’t see the need to attack people for creating art work of things they like. I get why Capri is considered controversial but those books get too much hate from people who have only skimmed the first book or not read the series at all. Have a lovely day :)

so i’ve been doing a captive prince reread for the nth time (naturally) and am encountering some confusion regarding laurent’s ambush at the start of kings rising.

basically, laurent and his ravenel troops have set out for charcy two days before damen in the name of tactical advantage, but end up missing their rendezvous. we soon come to find that this is because laurent is busy being trapped in a room with govart.

i struggle to understand where the rest of laurent’s men were/are during the time laurent was being taken away/is captured and why they were still very alive later on (as we see when damen arrives to fortaine and sees their many tents)

like what even happened? what did the ambush look like? were they just hanging about outside somewhere?

perhaps i’m missing something… or maybe it’s just a plot hole. in any case.. thoughts ?
