The fucking cat! The story of how Luke found a true friend in the captivity of the Red Keep, and Aemond found another enemy
Cursing through his teeth, Aemond furiously slammed the door to Lucerys' quarters and clutched the deep, bleeding scratch on the back of his hand. He decided to ignore the muffled laughter coming from behind that door. Fucking hell, Aemond hated that bloody beast! It was just absurd, but yes, among those he considered his personal nemesis was a cat. What's more, Aemond was sure that the cat considered him his nemesis too
Having supported his grandfather's idea to fill the castle with cats instead of the rat catchers Aegon had executed, he thought it was a good idea. After all, there were no negative aspects - the cats didn't demand payment, couldn't spy for the enemy, and generally couldn't do any harm, except maybe scratch the tapestries. How, damn it, he was wrong!
The first time he'd seen the creature was in the garden when he'd gone in search of his nephew and sister. Not that he had any urgency to do so, but Helaena and the boy had become too close lately and he… had to keep an eye on things. As he walked past the old apple tree, he heard a low, threatening sound, and when he looked around, he saw a shaggy, reddish beast that could only be considered a domestic cat in name only. The animal was large and looked completely wild, and it had only one eye. Aemond hummed and continued on his way, ignoring that the cat was still making its frightening noises. If only he had known then, he would have slashed this fur demon with his sword, without remorse.
The second time he met the monster was in his nephew's chambers, when he came to check that the boy was all rig… meaning that he was not up to something naughty or stupid. After all, Aemond knew better than anyone how well the little bastard could cause trouble. His hands were full because that morning the servants had made another mistake and added plum cake to Aemond's breakfast, even though he always skipped dessert. So, just to save the food, he decided to give it to the boy. Especially since kid seemed very thin, and they didn't want rumors to spread in court that they were starving Lucerys. He also had a book about the Lorathi mazemakers, a rare item from his own collection, but that was nothing, he just wanted to keep the boy busy and less thinking about various tricks. So, when he entered the room, he didn't have time to react and cover his head when something furry, with long claws and absolutely fierce attacked him from somewhere above. Aemond could only turn his face away a little, put his left half up, and be 'glad' that his eye was already gone.
'Sir Pam!'
His nephew's worried voice slightly distracted the beast from trying to tear at Aemond's face, and Aemond could throw the rabid thing off him.
'Uncle, what are you doing? Careful, don't be so rough, you've scared him enough!'
Aemond blinked his eyes in shock. The only eye he had miraculously saved, by the way.
'Scared it? This creature has decided to finish your life's work and rob me of my vision for ever.'
'Poor Sir Pam, he's just a bit nervous, he's been through a lot and needs to be treated with care.'
'Sir Pam?'
Aemond looked at the ferocious cat, who was now crawling under the chair and hissing angrily.
'Well, I mean Sir Pumpkin. He's so ginger and cute, doesn't he look like a pumpkin?'
‘More like a demon from the seventh hell’ Aemond wanted to reply, but he refrained, noticing how admiringly his nephew was looking at the cat. Lucerys, usually so gloomy, was wearing such a lovely smile on his face that he didn't want to escalate the conflict, especially since what did a few minor scratches mean to a grown man and a warrior? Aemond didn't even feel anything.
What Aemond didn't realise is that this was only the very beginning. For from then on, whenever he visited his nephew, for the purely practical purpose of control of course, the Beast was there, and it was out for Aemond's blood. Lucerys just shrugged his shoulders and assured him that Sir Pam (for the love of the fucking gods!) was ‘a polite and gentle kitty’ and that Aemond just scares him. Aemond could have argued about who was scaring whom, but then he remembered what he was and why he couldn't be afraid of some flea-bitten thing.
The turning point occurred when one night, Aemond woke up with an odd weight on his chest. Opening an eye, he met the glowing eye of a demon in the darkness. The cat was standing on him, pawing at him with its needle-like claws. Deciding that he had finally had enough, Aemond jerked the blanket off and, disregarding the cat's crazed mewing, wrapped the animal in it like a sack. He would have it drowned by the first servant he met. No! He would drown the creature himself, personally, to make sure! And he would have done so, for certain, but for the memory of Lucerys gently caressing and murmuring to the cat. And then, so inappropriately, he felt shame. Aemond sighed heavily and changed his route.
It was late at night and there was no one around except the guards. But Aemond did not care.
When he entered Lucerys' chambers without knocking, he was awake. Irritated, Aemond threw his rolled-up blanket on the bed, from which a tousled animal jumped out and dashed into a dark corner. Aemond pointed his finger in that direction and barked:
'It! It was in my room!'
'Oh' only managed to say the stunned Luke.
'I should have drowned it!'
Luke remained silent, but Aidan noticed that his nephew's eyes were beginning to shine suspiciously moist. He shook his head and sighed. His temper had suddenly evaporated.
'I didn't do it' he said calmly to the boy.
Luke nodded, opened his mouth as if to say something, but instead suddenly sobbed. Oh, no… no, no, no! But the dam had already burst, and Lucerys began to cry uncontrollably, clutching his shoulders.
Aemond was not ready for this. He stood there in his nightgown, in the middle of his little nephew's room, who was a hostage guest, and he felt like a completely fool. Now he even wanted the cat to scratch him as hard as he could, if only it would make Lucerys stop crying.
'I didn't. And I won't.'
He hesitantly approached Luke. The boy shook his head and spoke through his tears:
'I… it's just… Pammy's like the only good thing here. I can't see Arrax, I can't leave, you're at war with mom and I… '
And that's when Aemond really recognised that he had completely screwed up. He really needed to bite his tongue to keep from blurting out something about how he would fix it. Seeing his nephew in tears and suffering had once been almost a cherished dream for him, but now the sight of it only made something painfully tighten in his own chest.
Without allowing himself to analyse his own actions, Aemond crossed the small distance between them and covered Luke in his arms. The boy didn't resist, only sobbed wetly and hugged him even closer, causing his heart to skip a beat.
Fucking cat! Aemond had fallen irrevocably in love with Lucerys Velarion, and it was all the fault of the fucking cat!
Prince Aeganyx Targaryen, Son of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Aemma Arryn, Younger Brother of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Rider of Sliverwing. (In this AU, Rhaenyra is the heir to the Iron Throne and everything happened like the original timeline and female alphas can get pregnant). Aeganyx was an Omega and pregnant and the only people who knew was Rhaenyra, Daemon, Robert, Laenor, Rhaenys, Corlys, Lucerys, Jacaerys, Rhaena, Baela and Harwin.
Robert Baratheon, Son of Lord Borros Baratheon and the only boy out of four sisters. He was an Alpha and the Secret Lover of Prince Aeganyx and the Father of his children.
(I might write a story about this and if I did they might be few changes to the original timeline and also they might be some gay and lesbian ships in the story 😓)
"Are you tormented by the memories?" Lucerys whispers from the end of the bed, "Do you remember all the ways I've harmed you but still realize it was not worth it?"
"Stop talking! I hate you!" Aemond yells out. 'He's not real, he's not there, he deserved it, you wanted to do it.' He tries to tell himself. To put himself in control.
"Hated. You hated me. You despised me really. I was the object of your ire. I was everything that you hated. But it's all gone now. I'm gone, I'm dead. You killed me." Lucerys states, moving closer to Aemond.
Aemond finally looks at him, looks at what he has done. Lucerys doesn't look like a ghost, he looks real. And dead. Aemond can hear the water drip onto the floor where Lucerys is standing. Or is that blood?
There is no way of knowing, nothing is hitting the ground even though Aemond is following the drops and hearing them hit, it disappears right before his eyes.
"I am dead, Uncle. You should happier than ever. You got my eye, the eye you've always wanted, the eye you were owed." Lucerys says as he gets right in front of Aemond, standing directly next to where he is sitting in bed.
Aemond can see him more clearly now, see his face. He is missing an eye but he also seems to be missing almost half of his face. Where the right side of his face should be is shredded up flesh and a gaping whole where his eye and brow bone should be. Blood is pouring down his face onto his clothes and the floor. Aemond just stares at the hole and listens to the dripping of blood on the floor.
The dripping gets louder and louder by the second.
"I am sorry that I wasn't able to give it you. I wasn't in the position to give it you. I'm sure you can check to see if Vhagar has it, maybe it got stuck between her teeth." Lucerys says, smiling at the end. Aemond would be upset if he wasn't distracted with the dead boy standing in front of him.
"What do you want Lucerys?" Aemond says, turning his gaze to the rest of Lucerys' body, hoping to forget about the gaping hole staring at him. He does not find that comfort. He is faced with Lucerys' bloody stump of an arm. His forearm is gone, ripped to shreds and the blood pouring onto the ground.
Aemond stares at the blood as it hits the ground and disappears.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing Uncle. Did you miss me? I've seem to be the only thing on your mind as of late, so I thought why not and surprise you. Give your mind a little break on how I might be doing." Lucerys states, smirking down at Aemond.
"I look a lot worse than you could've imagined right? What were you thinking? That I was ripped to shreds, like Arrax?" Lucerys asks. Aemond looks at him, staring at the harm he has caused him.
Suddenly becoming enraged, Lucerys spits out "Or were you hoping that I didn't suffer? That I fell to my death, unscathed, after your war dragon chewed me up and spit me out? Is that what you were hoping for uncle? Is that what you were praying to your false gods for?"
why do I keep reading 'paint me in your colors'? all it does is bring me pain. every time I read it, I just break out into tears because everyone is depressed and the writer is so good at portraying that. anyways new chapter is out!
the Breakbones blood showing in our little brat Lucerys is all I've ever wanted from this world

Lucerys’s favourite place to be is on his knees with his cheek pressed against Aemond’s thigh. The man is his holy place of worship and he a willing sacrifice.
Aemond and Lucerys consensually hurting each other because it helps whatever impulse and trauma they have to deal with. The bruises and burn marks Aemond leaves on the younger’s skin take weeks to heal. Lucerys drags his nails across Aemond’s scar and watches him relive the experience of losing his eye. They find different ways to wound the other but the aftercare that follows is pure bliss.

Who knew that a good fucking would actually calm him down eh?
Continuation of Spy!Lucemond:
Luke would still have taken Aemond's eye, of course, but this time, it'd have been on purpose. Before that they may have just been rivals of sort but now it's personal and Aemond doesn't know whether he wants to kill Luke or fuck him. Maybe both, though not in that order, obv. Either way, that does nothing to temper his budding obsession with Luke, and he starts seeking him out deliberately during his missions. He, of course, does it to take his revenge eventually, it's rather unfortunate that the timing just always seems to be off and if he takes his frustration out on the men that Luke likes to flirt with, that is nobodies business but his own.
To Luke, in the beginning, Aemond is just a mildly amusing nuisance who tries to kill him sometimes, and that makes Aemond even more angry. Making Aemond angry does turn Luke on, though. His obsession with Luke is hardly subtle. And who doesn't want to be wanted, right? And while letting Aemond chase him is fun. Wouldn't it be way more fun to have him on a leash? He is easy on the eye and quite skilled after all. So he tries to seduce him, which is not as hard as one might think, and if he gets a little possessive of Aemond himself along the way? Well, no harm done, right? Aemond belongs to him by all rights anyway.
I'd absolutely love a Spy!AU with lucemond where aemond ist a spy James bond style and Luke is the femme (homme) fatale. It'd fit their dynamic so well, and to make it even more spicy, they'd still be related and on opposite sides of whatever conflict is going on (tho both would be off age). The more drama, the better.
Maybe Luke seduces him to steal vital information? Maybe he seduces him to the dark side? Maybe aemond takes Luke hostage? Who knows. I just know that'd be absolutely unhinged and a lot of fun😈
Best lucemond dynamic is pathetic, psycho loser Aemond and crazy bitch Lucerys. You can't change my mind!
I promised a while ago I would make a fanfiction rec list for lucemond, so here we go:
Star-crossed by DominaReginald
I have to say this is my all-time favourite lucemond fic. If you like the Lucerys-gets-kidnapped-instead-of-eaten-at-Storm's-End-trope, then this one is already worth a read, but what I love about this story is that it shows how the conflict really impacts lucemond's relationship, which is the focus of the plot. Much happens, of course, but the story focuses on how the war and Aemond's subsequent participation in it impacts his relationship with Lucerys. It's also very interesting how this story handles the marriage pact with the Baratheons. But really, a short summary will not do this master piece justice, so I urge you to go and read it yourself! For anyone who is hesitant due to the major character death warning: It's not the main couple, though the deaths occurring are tragic and happen to beloved characters.
the beast you've made of me by MotherMaidenCrone
I don't think anyone has walked past this amazing and beautiful fic in this fandom, but it still deserves its mention on this list as well. No other story has ever done a Team Neutral approach this well and nuanced. If you wanna see Lucerys girilboss his way through King's Landing politics and beat everyone at the Game of Thrones in a desperate bid to save his family from self-destruction, this is for you!
the tragic evolution of desire by toraophim
So I debated long and hard before I added this on because, boy, does this one make you feel stuff, and a lot of it is not great. It's an amazingly written story, and since I enjoy dark themes, I did like it a lot. Though, and this is important, the warnings are there for a reason, this dove is deader than dead. Also, none of the characters are having a good time here aside from Aegon for a time, which is why you should not read this if you are an Aegon stan. The author really turned him into a monster. If you are like me and enjoy an emotional rollercoaster with a somewhat happy ending, I say proceed with caution ;).
Set fire to the rain by baby345
This is a collection of a few short stories about lucemond. I really enjoy the writing and its variety!
Blood for Blood by GoddessofRoyalty
The way the author puts it in the summary is actually the best way to describe this fic: Aemond is not cruel, but he is also not kind (and Lucerys has both none of and all the power). And that is also how I like their dynamic. The story is told in snippets of their life together before and after the marriage, and the writing is really enjoyable!
all I had to give by monkkeyslut
This one starts out as one-sided love despite Aemond trying really hard, in his own way of course, but it's not just about their relationship but also about dealing with the aftermath of the war and the current unstable position of Lucerys due to the continued absence of an heir. This fanfiction is not only well written and a great ride, but the author also has an interesting take on Alys before we got even got introduced to her in HotD.
Office Lucemond by Avonne
This is a collection of ModernAU!Lucemond fanfiction about lucemond matching each other's freak told through the eyes of their stunned and slightly terrified coworkers and through the eyes of a very unimpressed Vharga.
Borros and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by lucerysinthesky
This is the funniest lucemond fanfiction I've ever read, which is why it gets a place on this list despite being tragically unfinished, but I have not given up hope quite yet! Maybe one day we'll get the last chapter. Still even unfinished, it is awesome, and it'll make you cry laughing, I promise. The title says it all already, and Borro's does suffer a lot while also having a full character arc and all while trying unsuccessfully not to die.
For now, I'll finish this rec list here, but there are still many more great stories out there that I haven't mentioned. Maybe I'll update it in the future or make another one for the once that I did not include here. For the ones reading this, I wish you a lot of fun reading the stories!
This is for my friend @godofstory, but I invite everyone to share their ideas and opinions in the comments or rebloggs whichever you prefer!
Hogwarts!AU, let's go! Before I start, however, I want to clarify that most of the adults in my headcanon work at the ministry. Only Daemon, Alys, Laena, and Viserys work at the school.
Daemon is the teacher for defence because i think it'd be really funny, the students are either afraid of him or absolutely in awe of him no in between. Alys is the potions professor who sometimes tries her newest concoctions on Daemon, who seems to have a strangely high immunity to poisons. Laena is the flight instructor and former professional quidditch player because I think it'd be cool, and Viserys is the headmaster who took over after he retired as minister of magic. Rhaenyra is the new minister of magic, obviously, and Otto is forever salty about being her under secretary because I like to see him suffer.
For house placement, I'm going with the idea of what each one valued the most at the time of sorting, similar to Canon Harry Potter and I'll start with the eldest, Aegon.
Aegon is sorted into Slytherin because he didn't want to disappoint anyone. It was kinda Targaryan tradition since Aegon the First himself was sorted into said house. He absolutely does not fit the type, but he tries. He really does. Politics is just so tedious, and there is just so much more fun to be had, like flying, for example. Why should he lead the house like his mother keeps telling him to when he could just become quidditch captain one day instead.
Helaena is sorted into Hufflepuff because she does not care one bit about her mother's expectations. She loves care of magical creatures and possesses all of Scamander's books (original and signed, of course). Sure, she has a gift for divination, but she hates it and rather spends her time in the forbidden forest, despite it being, well, forbidden, and she somehow despite never having witnessed anyone die managed to befriend the Thestrals.
Aemond, like Aegon, ended up in Slytherin, too, of course, which suits him much better than his older brother. He idolises his defence professor, uncle, and former Auror Daemon Targaryan and has a slight crush on Alys Rivers, the potion professor. Though nothing trumps his obsession with his nephew, who, in a bout of accidental magic, took out his eye. Aemond himself was not completely blameless in the incident, having forced his nephew into a corner, but that knowledge does not cool his anger one bit. Though, is it really hatred that motivates his obsession? Or is it an emotion of a much more possessive nature? Whatever it is, Aemond certainly is not ready to explore it further as of now.
Jace and Baela both got sorted into Gryffindor. They and Rhaena started their time at Hogwarts at the same time, and as best friends were over joyed to be in the same house. Both brave and bold, benefiting leaders they would turn out to be some day. Unfortunately, the gossipers of wizard high society took this in Jace's case as another confirmation of his status as a bastard son, but they were silenced over time as Jace rose through the student roster and even became head boy of Hogwarts later on. Baela took after her mother and made her name as the best quidditch captain the house of Gryffindor has ever seen. Though, she did not only have a talent for quidditch but also for duelling, and she often demonstrated that skill to defend her girlfriend Helaena from bullies. Cementing quickly that messing with her would be a certain mistake. Jace himself, much to his own consternation, fell for Slytherin's seeker, who turned out to be quite different from all the mean-spirited rumours spread about him.
Rhaena was sorted, surprising absolutely no one, into Ravenclaw. While quiet and unassuming, she would one day shock everyone and become Head girl of Hogwarts. Eventually graduating with the highest honour starting a career under Unspeakable Jeyne Arryn herself. Despite her not being the troublemaker her siblings and cousins turned out to be, she was quite adept with spell work, and people out to bully her learned their lesson rather quickly.
Daeron, much like Rhaena being an often forgotten child in the mix of the Targaryan and Valeryon children, was also sorted into Ravenclaw. He even rose to the position of Ravenclaw quidditch captain and would have turned out to be the Baela's greatest obstacle in winning the inter-house quidditch cup if it wasn't for Aegon being a surprisingly competent seeker for house Slytherin.
Lucerys valuing loyalty the most gets sorted into Hufflepuff. This just pours more gasoline onto the already burning rumour mill until they witness him first throw down with his uncle Aemond, who is trying to make Lucerys' life at Hogwarts difficult. Their monthly spats become one of Hogwarts' greatest entertainments for the next few years until Aemond graduates. That is until Daemon, of all people, catches them making out in a broom closet. Not that their fights subside, but now they often end in the privacy of the Room of Requirements after Daemon got sick of trying to kill Aemond every time he caught them.
Joffrey, much like his eldest brother, would later get sorted into Gryffindor, while Aegon the Third, Viserys the Second and little Visenya would get sorted into Slytherin to cause havoc long after their elder siblings had graduated.
haha what if we shipped lucemond and used these as our pfps,,,, just kidding,,, unless,,,
Modern AU! Lucemond kinda has great divorce potential. Like every time they have a big fight and Aemond storms off to go on a rampage and cool down his rage, once he gets back home, he gets slapped with divorce papers.
This happens like every two years, and the rest of the family just pray that this time it'll stick. It never does because Lucerys realised that it's actually really fun dragging Aemond in front of the court and his entire family. Getting everything and then having an affair with him for a few months before getting remarried.
It's not like Aemond is not getting anything out of it either. He quite enjoys the weeks of make up sex that follow.
Meanwhile, the rest of the family is living in constant fear of lucemond ruining yet another family dinner with their shenanigans.
Here, I'm going to continue my thoughts on what the OGs think about the ship parallels when they look at lucemond and jacegon.
Alicent feels a deep sense of grief when she sees the looks filled with yearning exchanged between Jacaerys and Aegon. She knows how this ends. Jacaerys will ultimately choose duty over love and break both his own and Aegon's heart in the process. She never thought she would feel any sort of kinship with one of Rhaenyra's bastards but here she was. Seeing Jacaerys repeating her mistakes. She should have taken Rhaenyra up on her offer that day. But what is the point of crying over spilt milk. Nothing remains only longing for something that never was.
And while she mourns for Rhaenyra's heir and her son, when she looks at Aemond and Lucerys, she despairs. She knows this song and dance. Has sat in the first row when it was happening at court the first time. Now she watches it playing out again right in front of her. She thought she had raised Aemond better than for him to try and emulate that despicable man but maybe watching him stalk his nephew like prey, she has to accept that her son is a Targaryan and not even her influence can curb his impulses. If only that little bastard would stop encouraging him. Not behaving like prey being stalked at all. He is the poisonous kind of prey. Beautiful and dangerous, and she worries for Aemond for he might think himself the hunter while walking straight into a deadly trap.
Rhaenyra watches Jace and Aegon dance around each other, and her heart aches with sorrow. Sometimes, she dreams of the carefree days of her youth yet to be marred by the tragedies of life and betrayal, but she also has accepted reality. For dreams are dreams, and they will not change a thing. She knows Jace. He takes duty too seriously. Not rarely does she wish he would lighten up at least a little, but she also does not wish for him to get his heart broken over a fruitless tryst with her useless brother. Maybe Baela was not his first choice, and looking at her and Helaena, neither was he hers, but they are close enough as friends that they will at least not be unhappy together. Aegon will just have to grow up just like Rhaenyra herself had to.
There is another relationship that troubles her much more than Jace and Aegon's yearning for each other. Jace would never do something impulsive that may compromise her claim to the throne, but her brother, Aemond, might. She knows the look he throws at Lucerys all too well. She enjoys it when Daemon directs it at her every time. But Aemond is a different beast from Daemon entirely, and no matter how similar the situations may be, there has never been that much bad blood between Daemon and herself. She worries for Lucerys and worries what her brother's intentions may be. Though, one look at Lucerys tells her that this situation might exceed her control, and she asks herself if this is how her father must have felt when he witnessed Daemon and her own dance.
Daemon does not care either way for Aegon the Spare. From what he has heard, the boy is no threat on his own. A lazy hedonist, nothing more. He does care for Jacaeys, though. He watched the boy grow up into a steadfast and honourable if, unfortunately, much to a serious young man who may actually benefit from getting it wet occasionally. For all Daemon cares, Jacaerys can do what he wants as long as it does not dishonour Baela in any way. If Jacaerys wants to take that pathetic little Prince to bed, then he shall. Daemon knows that Jacaerys would not make a mess of things he is much too meticulous to give their enemies ammunition.
Speaking of messes. He does not have to look too far to find one in the making. He knows he is not supposed to have a favourite son, much like he should not have a favourite daughter, but Daemon is at the end of the day only human, no matter what he likes to believe himself and if he could have one it would be Lucerys who reminds him so much of Rhaenyra when she was young. All the fire. All the sass. Unfortunately, he also knows what effect this kind of behaviour has on young, hot-blooded, Targaryan men. That does not mean he is sympathetic. No, he would like nothing more than to run Dark Sister through Aemond Targaryan's other eye just for the way it keeps following Lucerys wherever he goes. If One-Eye was not so unpredictable, Daemon would welcome it. Having access to the biggest living dragon would be an enormous boon for their side, but he cannot yet believe the devotion in Aemond Targaryan's gaze and as such he would prefer to keep him as far away from Lucerys as possible. This must be how Viserys felt watching Rhaenyra and himself all those years ago, and ultimately, much like Viserys back then, Daemon has no choice but to watch closely and hope that it does not blow up in their faces when the two collide. He has seen the provoking smirks Lucerys has sent One-Eye's way. Much like Rhaenyra, the boy is defiant and bone headed and does what he wants, and where Daemon likes those attributes in Rhaenyra in Lucerys, they drive him up the wall.
I've been thinking. Many people have posted about the parallels between daemyra and lucemond as well as the parallels between jacegon and rhaenicent and I very much agree with them. I just think that it is very interesting that the rhaenyra parallel in both ships is very different.
Aegon is very much young Rhaenyra who does not have a taste for duty, wishing to spend her days traveling on dragon back and eating only cake. The one known for their hedonistic behavior. Forced into a mutually unwanted marriage with their respective spouse. Damned to yearn for something long gone that could never be again. Something that only leaves book pages full of painful memories behind.
Whereas Lucerys represents Rhaenyra's darker side. The side that enjoys flirting with danger. A reckless side. Provoking their uncles into reckless actions and standing tall in the face of adversity. Lucerys got the teeth and I imagine, had he had the chance to grow into his bratty nature, the rumors about him would never stop. The good and the bad.
Maybe Alicent could have loved Aegon more if he didn't remind her so much of all her long dead dreams. Though this also begs the question what the OGs feel when they recognise themselves in lucemond and jacegon. But I think that might be something for a different post.
So, I really love time travel fics and I love the Lucerys cuts out his own eye trope while Aemond watches in horror. That's why my brain conjured up the following plot idea:
What if after their respective deaths, they both travel back in time to the same moment without knowing the other came back too and it's the exact moment where Aemond demanded Lucerys' eye as paiment for his debt on Stormsend just before the fateful flight.
This time though Lucerys does not run. He processes the situation just a second before Aemond does and fueled by his own fear of death does the only thing that seems logical at this moment. He lungs for the dagger and proceeds just as Aemond demanded. Aemond snaps out of his own stupor just as the screaming starts and tries to stop Lucerys but it's already to late. The eye is lost. A meaningless debt which had been paid tenfold in another life had been paid again. And Lucerys looks up at him through tears and blood, his face twisted in agony and asks: "Will you let me leave now, uncle?"
I think as their relationship progresses, eventually lucemond would come to talk about Aemond's lost eye, which he probably is not only angry about but also quite insecure of. Having a huge scar in the middle of your face doesn't exactly breed confidence. And so while Lucerys doesn't regret saving his brother's life he does regret hurting Aemond a lot. He tells Aemond as much but he also adds with a little smile while tracing the scar that he may abhor the way it came to be but he cannot hate its existence for he put that mark there showing everyone that Aemond is forever his.
Lucerys in his "Siren of High Tide" era at Aemond told through the lyrics of Villain by Bella Poarch:
Early stages of lucemond from Aemond's POV told by the lyrics of Crime Scene by Eve to Adam:
I will always love unhinged lucemond the most, but I also enjoy it when they are soft with eachother. Cuddling during the calm before the storm. Slow kisses under a thick blanket. Fingers carding gently through dark curls and long silver hair. An eyepatch and a sapphire laying discarded on the bedside table. Just two beasts, two dragons, resting. Feeling safe and relaxed in eachothers presence.
