Just noticed this in Wind Breaker chapter 56. I overlooked this the first time because it's just one panel, but compare Sakura's posture and facial expression here vs. what it looks like when he squares up normally (via chapter 3):

It really looks to me like this kid woke up to find his closest school friends in his apartment and was immediately just like, "Oh, I guess we're fighting now." 🫠🫠

Every so often I recall the funniest blink-and-you-miss-it moment on Dressrosa, when Luffy picks up Zoro and Law and is about to jump off a plateau. Law is panicking but Zoro is calm and steady, his captain’s arm around his neck in a chokehold, ready to go wherever his captain chooses to take him. (CHAPTER 746) (Ep 682)

Remember how much Zoro hated being hauled around by Luffy pre-timeskip? Pepperidge farm This ZoLu shipper remembers! Zoro used to hit Luffy, yell at him, threaten to cut him for physically manhandling him (usually with a Gomu Gomu no Rocket). Look at this fool now! His damn face is horizontal and he’s just, like, “Cool.” This 180 was so out of character that I remember pausing in my reading out of surprise. Over time, I realized this is just part of a growing pattern of behavior:

Post-timeskip, Zoro got soft.

Okay, yeah, post-timeskip Zoro is more muscular, has a prominent facial scar, doesn’t smile or laugh as much anymore, and spouts these tough-guy one-liners. But when it comes to Luffy, Zoro got sooooo soft.

Pre-timeskip, Zoro scolded Luffy often for being impulsive, for rocketing people around, for blowing their cover, etc. He was mostly on the same wavelength as Luffy, but there were frequent moments of exasperation where he would threaten to cut Luffy (jokingly?) or yell at Luffy for being an idiot.

But post-timeskip? Those two years clearly did a number on our swordsman because compared to before, he is a complete pushover when it comes to his captain.

Luffy is quiet because he senses something is amiss? Zoro immediately notices and asks “What’s wrong” like a worried mother hen.

Luffy needs to get across a frozen lake? Zoro is already stretching.

Luffy is fighting in the coliseum despite being on an undercover mission? Zoro laments not being there fighting alongside him.

Luffy wants to cause a ruckus over Otama/red bean soup? Zoro draws his sword and is ready to tag-team this mess.

Luffy jumps Zoro and nearly suffocates him face-hugger style? Not only does Zoro not reprimand Luffy, he is over the moon smiling like a moron and offering up food.

A lot can be said about WHY Zoro is now so tolerant of Luffy’s antics, way more than before. But setting aside “why,” it’s clear that Zoro is officially Luffy’s number one enabler. He will indulge Luffy’s every whim. He will lay all their enemies at his captain’s feet. He will follow Luffy into disasters and celebrations alike. He will forgive AND defend all of Luffy’s wrongs.

This man is so whipped. This man is so soft for his captain. This man is a fucking marshmallow.

I'm a multishipper at heart when it comes to One Piece, but I can't believe I just saw some random Zosan fan on Twitter claim ZOLU content makes Zoro ooc??

Um....Zolu is the ONLY Zoro ship (yaoi or het doesn't matter) that keeps him in character for majority of the content put out.

Zosan specifically has a majority of their content reducing both Sanji & Zoro to yaoi stereotypes, but Zoro gets hit the most. I can't tell you how many times I've read a fan comic or fanfic & went "Who is this??" because they write him so ooc.

In the spirit of being fair, let me just say Lawlu has this issue too, but with Luffy! Like why is Luffy being aggressively horny to Law in most Lawlu content?? Luffy is not a person who would be overtly sexual even in scenarios where you don't headcanon him on the aroace spectrum.

Luffy wouldn't act like a horny bf from a cheesy rom com. He'd assume he & his crush were already together despite no overt romantic/sexual activities & then one random Sunday during a friendly spar session non chalantly ask said crush when they were going to do the nasty.

Then he'd get upset by said crush's confusion because "I didn't even know we were dating wtf?? We haven't even kissed!", but Luffy started saving them the last cut of meat at dinner instead of eating it himself. You think he'd do that for just anyone? You better marry him after all that sacrifice you jerk!

There's just something about fandoms taking the most popular yaoi ships & reworking each party until they are only the characters in name & erase almost everything unique about the dynamic just to keep it easy to project any & all fantasies. I've seen it time & time again. It honestly should be studied.

One Piece but Luffy is flirty as fuck.

This boy was raised on a bar until he was seven. He spend most of his time with Shanks in said bar and idolized that man. He heard so many things.

Then he was sent to live with literal bandits and I'll be damned if those dumbasses never tried to rip off rich assholes by schmoozing em.

There is also Ace and Sabo. These three tricked restaurants into believing they were an adult man. I can't imagine Ace not taking the role a little too far and flirting with waiters. Sabo was raised rich and he never grew out of that gentelmanly passive aggressive flirtation tactics that work on rich women, whick consisted of body language and small touches on the hands, shoulders and hair. After Sabo's incident it was only two of them Luffy would sweet talk people to distract them as Ace piled up dishes from the kitchen.

Worst thing is, he doesn't even know he is doing it. He is constantly using words like: love, honey, sugar, sweetheart, etc... and his crew just gets used to it along with pecks on the cheek and pats on their shoulders, arms, cheeks, legs... They know he doesn't mean anything bad by it but their first meeting were awkward at best.

Luffy: All this heat must be getting to your pretty head, what about you come with me sugar and sail the seas?

Zoro *thinking*: I will kill this guy.

My inspiration for this sketch is actually a dialogue from the fight between Zoro and Mihawk, when he said, and I'll be paraphrasing– that a wound on a swordsman's back would be dishonorable.

So anyways, that's Zoro with a wound on his back because he just protected Luffy. I love the idea of this happening so much because Luffy knows of that fact (wound-back-dishonorable), and it pains him 'cause he values Zoro's honor and dreams too 🥹 but sucks to be him 'cause he's Zoro's priority 😆
