Remus licked the edge of it, rolling it up without even looking at Logan. “Maybe I like choking.”

So that was how it was. Logan shoved his hands into his pockets as they walked. “You are aware we’ll have to act as though we like each other for this, yes?”

“You’re saying you don’t like me?” Remus pouted. If Logan didn’t know better, he would’ve thought he saw a flicker of hurt on his face… But whatever it was, it was gone in an instant. “Why, that completely changes things.”

“I am saying, we must act like a couple.” Logan corrected, unimpressed.

All the Sanders Sides witch themed icons I made put together! (You can tell I made Patton’s first pffft >///<) I’ve said this so many times but I’m absolutely ecstatic that I finished them!! They look really nice side by side I’m ngl, but that’s because I’m genuinely just really proud of them dajbdjakfe ;///;

These were such a blast to draw that I kinda speed ran them pffft. >///< So my arm needs a definite break. These designs were really fun to make! Even if I’m not the best at clothing design. o///o Anyways I’ll see you guys around! I kind of have a plan to make a few more of these to round out Halloween, but we’ll see if I’ve got enough fuel in my tank for that once I rest. u///u

the point in just drowning another day

“You’re too hard on yourself,” Janus murmurs, voice entirely too knowing, entirely too understanding, and Patton doesn’t know that he can handle the depth of this empathy. “You deserve to have the support that you’ve been trying so hard to provide.”

Patton is struggling far more than he wants to admit, both with his loneliness and the crushing weight of the mistakes he’s made, and it’s sending him spiraling. It doesn’t help that apparently, his amphibian traits are here to stay.

It is a grey day today.

He hasn’t had one in a while, but he’s sensed it approaching for the past few days, so he supposes it’s his own fault that it hits this bad; he willfully ignored all the warning signs, pushed aside his fatigue and his slowly souring mood, telling himself that he was alright, that he was being silly, that the feelings would pass. And now, the world is grey, the colors leeched from it like a black-and-white film, and a weight sits heavily on his chest, making every breath a struggle.

He needs to get up. He knows this. Knows he should have been up hours ago, that he should be making breakfast, eggs and sausage and pancakes, should be smiling and happy and ready to greet the world. The others are probably waiting for him, wondering where he is, why he’s not there.

Logan sighed, pushing up his glasses so that they wouldn't slip off his face. He had been working all day and as the day was ending, his patience with work was wearing thin. The words on the pages felt foreign to him, so he decided to call it a night and head into the kitchen for dinner.

As Logan walked into the kitchen, he noticed how quiet it was. That was strange, usually his fellow sides were loud and rambunctious. His eyes glanced to the clock and was shocked to see that it was almost 2:30 a.m., much later what he had originally thought. He must have lost track of time.

Logan decided to make himself a quick sandwich with his favorite Crofters before heading to bed. He stood in front of the fridge and grabbed the jar out of the door. As he began to close it, he heard a noise from behind him. He whipped around to see Remus, standing in his pajamas, which happened to be just his boxers.

"Lolo?" Remus asked, coming to wrap his arms around his boyfriend. "What are you doing up so late? Aren't you the one who's always scolding me for not sleeping at normal times?"

Logan let himself melt into Remus' hug, realizing how tense he was.

"I lost track of time working. I plan to go to bed as soon as this sandwich is eaten." He felt Remus pull away from the hug, and tried to hide his disappointment that he wasn't being held anymore.

"Go sit on the couch," Remus commanded suddenly.

"But my sandwich-"

Remus clicked his tongue, interrupting Logan. "No buts, go sit on the couch, I'll finish making your sandwich and bring it to you."

Logan went and sat on the couch, watching Remus dance around the kitchen as he hummed his theme song. Even in his exhausted state, he couldn't help but admire Remus, for being himself and unique. It was what Logan loved most about Remus, how he was always true to himself first and foremost.

Remus came out of the kitchen, holding a plate that held Logan's sandwich. Logan took the plate and stared at the sandwich.

"Why is my sandwich a strange shape?" Logan asked. Remus sat down next to him on the couch and smiled.

"I made you a little unicorn! See, there's the horn. And I left all the extra bits since I know how you feel about wasting food."

"Thank you Remus. It's a beautiful unicorn sandwich. I almost feel guilty eating your art."

"Nonsense, it was made to be eaten! Take a bite out of it before I do." Logan ate his sandwich, finishing it quickly. He went to stand up and go to bed, but Remus pulled him back down.

"Remus please, I'm exhausted."

"that's why I want to give you cuddles." Logan let Remus rearrange them so that Logan was laying on Remus'chest, the two curled up on the couch. Logan felt Remus' chest move up and down with each breath the Duke took, finding comfort in the rythemic pattern.

Remus ran his fingers through Logan's hair, gently pulling the glasses off of Logic's face. "Don't think for a moment that I didn't notice how you melted into my hug. You okay babe?"

Logan nodded. "Just tired. And in need of physical affection I suppose." He felt Remus: lips meet his forehead.

"Can you talk to me? Ramble to me about anything." Logan asked, feeling himself drifting slowly to sleep.

He heard Remus launch into a soft ramble about some deep sea creature, but the words didn't sink in. Logan was quickly drifting to sleep, comforted by the boyfriend that held him so close.

He remembers the first time he kissed Janus. He remembers the way they were curled up against each other, the lights dimmed and the television on low volume, neither of them paying attention to the images on the screen. It was messy and terrible, as far as kisses go, and Patton loved every moment of it, and when they pulled away from each other, they were both breathless, smiling, and he knew then that what he felt, Janus felt too.

He remembers, too, the moment he heard about Virgil.

It’s not every day that your husband’s long-lost kid breaks into your house. It’s not every day that you find out your husband of four years is an alien.

Patton’s just trying to roll with the punches.

Patton’s day begins with a teenager holding a knife to his throat.

Technically, the day has already begun; it is mid-morning, the sun inching steadily toward noon. But Patton has barely been awake an hour, has been sitting at the kitchen table with his mug of coffee, staring at all the final exams he has yet to grade as he waits for his brain to start functioning. He likes Saturday mornings; he would go so far as to say that they’re usually his favorite part of the week, because usually, Saturday mornings mean sleeping in, wrapped in his husband’s arms, and later, a big brunch and a lazy day. But today, an emergency called Janus into the office, and he has a backlog of grading to finish this weekend, so here he is. Squinting, bleary-eyed, and with a sad lack of a husband to keep him company.

That is when the teenager appears.

Appears, because there is no better word for what happens. There is no break-in, no slamming of doors or shattering of windows. One minute, he is alone, and the next, there is another person in the kitchen, a young person who can’t be any older than seventeen or eighteen, and Patton barely has time to process that before they lunge for him, knocking him from his chair and to the floor, pinning him against the cool tile.

It takes a second to process the bite of cold, sharp metal against his throat, but as soon as he does, Patton wakes up very, very quickly.
