a bookplate illustrated in an antique engraving style. at the center is an image of a Jewish man (possibly a rabbi) and a Jewish demon seated at a table in a library, having a friendly argument over Talmud or Torah study. a quote from Psalm 24, "the earth is the Lord's, and everything in it" is written in Hebrew in the window above them. the illustration has decorative framing with demon/bird feet and tails. "Ex Libris Jesse Abelman" is written in Hebrew at the top and English at the bottom.

a really fun recent commission: this custom bookplate for the curator of Judaica at the Museum of the Bible! it's based on a variety of texts that describe (at least some) sheydim as observantly Jewish - especially the Talmudic stories of Yosef Sheyda, a demonic scholar or possibly even a rabbi himself. the quote in the window is from Psalm 24, "the earth is the Lord's, and everything in it" which is often written above an owner's name in Jewish books, but provides double meaning here for the fact that sheydim too are divinely created. Jesse shares my love for sheydim as transgressive, marginalized figures who are nevertheless deeply Jewish, so this was an ideal collaboration & a delight to make!

also done entirely in Procreate, inked with True Grit Texture Supply's "Rusty Nib" engraver brushes - totally in love with this new process & the relative ease of accomplishing this type/level of hatching vs. traditional media (giving me added respect for the 17th century printmakers I've been studying). i will always love working traditionally but adding more digital techniques to my repertoire has been super useful.

Technically, 500,000 might last you 7ish years in usa because, according to incharge.org, the mean of age groups in average annual spending is $71,210.33. And 1 million dollars would last you 14ish years. Also, a life expectancy in the US is 77ish years, so that means around 6 million dollars for a lifetime.

1 billion dollars are around 14,000ish years. For "50,000" years is $3,560,516,500. So yes a billion dollars is fuck ton of money, but it wouldn't last 50,000 years. It's closer to generational wealth, not holy shit that is too much for any person/ family to hold. Bernard Arnault, or the person that owns Louis Vitton on the other hand, better be forking over some cash because that man has enough money for 3,271,997 years, or 42,493 lifetimes, or everyone in a small town.

P.s. I got the mean by adding the age groups together and dividing by the number of groups. Or 427,262 (all the age groups) divided by 6 ( the number of age groups), which equals 71,210.3 repeating, or just $71,210.33 because with money we just need the tenths and oneths place after the decimal.

https://www.incharge.org/financial-literacy/budgeting-saving/average-monthly-expenses/

people will be like "so if you were a billionaire, you'd donate all your money?? every last penny?? you wouldn't do anything fun for yourself??" do you understand how much money a billion dollars is

Tbh I think a lot of the rank-and-file goyische anti-Zionists don’t really realize that a large majority of the Jewish community sees them as a new generation trying (and thankfully not succeeding—yet) to enact another full-scale genocide against us. They’re so insulated by their tokens—who have either been gaslighted into accepting abuse or are actively trying to avoid abuse by being Good Jews—that they honestly do not understand the Evil Jews they call Zionists (who may or may not actually be Zionists) are the majority of the Jewish community.

And we despise you. We’re disgusted by you. Some of us are downright terrified of you. We see you as no better ideologically than the genocidal maniacs who have spent the last 3000 years murdering us in increasingly horrific ways. And I cannot fathom how you can see yourself as a good person or ally to Jews when the majority of the Jewish community fears and hates you as much as we do the literal Nazis.

I know you won’t, because the truth is that you do hate Jews just as much as the Nazis and everyone who came before them did, even if you deny or justify it—but you should be ashamed.

Wow clearly the words of a genocidal maniac amirite 🤪

It’s almost like it takes time and effort to actually enact foreign policy and the people whose activism ends at reposting slogans online or defacing Jewish businesses will never understand that because their entire political ideology hinges upon refusing to engage with reality

Hey everyone. I remember reading an HTTYD fanfic titled "My Hiccup," and one of the plots was Alvin enslaving the Berserker tribe with Dagur trying to free them. And though why the hell not make this into a ROBTD comic with Alvin as the main bad guy? Of course, Pitch and others are in this too.
