tfw you find stories or docs you've written ages ago and feel a genuine full-body cringe wash over you
My Gideon art nouveau esque bookmark to the Harrow piece <333 love these funky little religious guilt girlies (my eight years of catholic school say hello lol)
if i had a nickel for every time my rich, hot author mommy was accidentally connected to a murder scene, i'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot. but it's weird that it happened twice.
Hey, could you tell me a little about "Heart-shaped box" and "Overshot the target"? <3
Ofcc <33
So, "Overshot the target" is not about Strangers from Hell, but a trilogy called The Locked Tomb that's essentially just lesbian necromancers and sword women in space. So it's about Gideon and Harrowhark but a 1960s Summer Camp counselors AU in which they have the same enemies to lovers thing going on that they do in the novels but in a less fantastical setting.
Still not very fleshed out, but I want to make Gideon a muscular jock and Harrowhark a fencer (which is also them in canon but less fantastical xdd)
Probably won't be longer than a One-Shot (albeit a ~20k one xd)
"Heart-shaped box" however is a Strangers from Hell wip. It's a ghost-hunting au sort of?
In this AU Jongwoo moves to a countryside village to get away from his mom and girlfriend (who all live in Busan) bc said village is pretty close to a mysterious hotel that's sort of always been there and due to the surrounding landscape and its location being pretty isolated it's quite beloved by celebrities. But it's also supposedly haunted.
Now this is where another wip (the "herb doctor ghost" one) comes into play, bc I don't know how I want to connect the ideas. But essentially some centuries ago Moonjo was a really skilled doctor who worked a lot with herbs and could seemingly cure anything to the point that he had gotten a reputation. Namely that he was in kahoots with some demonic things, and that was he some sort of witch, which resulted in him being killed.
(I know that shamans or witches in historical Korea being killed was not that common, they were more likely just ostrasized or shunned according to brief research, but for the sake of this AU Moonjo was simply an outlier.)
So now, ~300 years later, Moonjo haunts the grounds on which he was killed, and the hotel that was built on top of them. And Jongwoo and new-found friends in the village decide to go on a little excursion to the hotel and see whether or not it's really haunted.
It might be too much for a one-shot, but maybe 2-3 long chapters like my Crimson Peak AU
Just quickly gonna post this...yeah
My 0 experience in animation is showing but uhhhh I love them your honor. Also this needs like so much more work lol but I need to let it go for a bit and studyyy
“You asked me if I’m angry, well, hell yeah I fucking am. Can’t help the way God made me, but he won’t get away with that again.”
But it’s about Gideon asking Harrow if she’s angry at her for sacrificing herself, and Harrow tells her YES and she can’t help God (by extension her parents) making her strive towards Lyctorhood, making her make herself into a graveyard of souls, but God won’t get away with his crimes again.
even though i know that realistically, seo moonjo is a dangerous psychopath serial killer who could easily stab me, a teenager with no will or know how to fight, dead in a second,,
he just
seems very pathetic to me,,
like,, i still think i could, you know, knock him down a notch with like a very well thought out insult to his insecurities
i don't think he really has any of those but I'm still sure i could manage to come up with something
"what, you think this is human meat?"
woowowow guess who got over their art block? with a realistic moonjo portrait :)
the monsters in bulgasal look so creepy and well designed i love it
And if I applied Preacher's Daughter to SFH, specificall to Moonjo and Jongwoo, then what?
The religious imagery and intergenerational trauma? Not to mention the parental figures who embody some sort of religious figure, and the way they mess up their children through abuse and manipulation, molding them into what they want.
The story is about a kid who ran away from home, "betraying their family", only to be betrayed by the person they though they could trust in the strange new world. They start hallucinating as they are trapped by their lover, before being killed in another wave of religious imagery.
This is applicable to both Ethel (Ptolomea until Televangelism) and Jongwoo.
And, need I even say the romantization of cannibalism? The entire song of Strangers is peak mjjw, honestly.
"Can I be yours? Can I be yours? Just tell me I'm yours If I'm turning in your stomach and I'm making you feel sick"
Tell me this isn't literally Moonjo?
Anyways I'm hella tired but this thought occupied my brain and I had to let it go.
Not-so-incorrect Bad and Crazy quotes, maybe?
