Pro tip for what may be a very niche audience of systems with mid level internal communication: if you can only internally communicate when trying to do so and you rarely or never hear surprising, random comments from other headmates that some other systems talk about, that is in fact normal. Internal communication is something that almost always takes time and practice to get better at, so it's not unusual for a system to have difficulty hearing each other and need to actively try to talk to each other to achieve internal communication. Hell, there's a reason that learning internal communication is a part of treatment for systems seeking medical support – because it can be difficult and it's unlikely that you've mastered it right off the bat!
Not hearing your headmates most of the time is okay. Needing to focus on talking to a headmate to internally communicate is okay. If you rarely or never get surprised by someone internally talking to you, that probably just means your internal communication has some barriers, difficulties, or quirks that other systems do not have. That does not mean you're faking; that does not mean you're less of a system. Don't fool yourself otherwise just because you see other systems getting caught off-guard by their headmates talking to them, or overhear each other talking while they're focused on something else, or anything else. They are not you, and your system is going to be different from their system. It's okay if your internal communication is different from other systems.
Tl;dr: Don't trap yourself in self-doubt if your system doesn't have perfect internal communication (including if you have internal communication that's "good enough" for your system but lacks in some areas). Internal communication (and communication skill) varies from system to system, and you don't have to have flawless communication to be a real system.
This is your friendly otherkin reminder!:
You do NOT have to behave like your kintype to be it. As long as you look in the mirror and think to yourself "yeah thats a ___" and feel good with it, you ARE that kintype!
yall... some friends of mine lowkey hate furries and therians. but they're so great in all other aspects.... covering my ears and eyes with my paws rn.
Hey, wanna know the ultimate trick to help you explain alterhumanity?
Saying that you "identify" as something can be really, REALLY hard to grasp for a ton of people, so just use a different phrasing with the same meaning!
For example, if you're in a situation were you have to explain your identity to someone who's a bit less open minded, instead of saying
"I identify as a fox"
just say
"I see myself as a fox" or "I feel more like a fox instead of a human"
That has the exact same meaning, but is much easier to understand!
"Yeah, I just kinda see myself as a fox. When I see images of them I kinda go 'hey! That's me!', and doing things a fox would do makes me happy"
Boom. Your chances of being understood just went up by like 80

i will explode everyone that tells us that we are not 'separate beings'. we are and thats who we view ourselves as, deal with it. like i know thats probably not how you view yourself or whatever but yall gotta remember the system and plural experience is a wide one. and there are gonna be systems and plurals that experience things you dont.
we say we are separate beings. treat us as such.
and DONT correct us or try to tell us what we are.

The want and desire of wanting amnesia and dissasociative barriers so everyone can have their own privacy vs the need to monitor what everyone's doing.
You are a writer/roleplayer whose fictional characters “have a will of their own” or “refuse to do what they’re supposed to”
You experience fictional entities sharing your mind/body in a unique way
You have the sense that fictional characters spontaneously or gradually take up residence in your mind as full people.
You feel like you can ‘channel’ fictional characters spirits the way a medium would channel the spirits of dead people.
You have a fully or partially realized internal space where characters interact in your mind with one another and/or with you
You ‘just know’ things about certain characters even though they were never stated in their source material, whether you are the author or not. (character’s exact height, favorite ice cream, etc)
Someone in fiction, or in real life, addresses a certain character and a reply just automatically comes out of your mouth.
You get into whole conversations with people ‘as’ a fictional character without meaning to
You experience periods of being a fictional character/a fictional character inhabiting your body (shifts/fronting)
You pose a question mentally to a character and they answer back.
You ‘sense’ the presence of a certain character in your mind mentally/emotionally
You sense that a character has a certain emotion for you/or wants something from/for you
You feel an emotional connection/friendship with a character that feels returned
If any of these sound like experiences you’ve had, you might be a soulbonder!

A message to the younger members of the community, and those who doubt there place in it:
Beings don't care.
I went to a therian meet up over anthro northwest. And it was NOTHING like the current online spaces, especially all the discourse.
There was no fighting. It was beautiful. Beings were freely using whatever labels they wanted, no one cared "why" someone identified as something, mental, spiritual, physical. Everyone was like "Hey, cool!".
Older folks talked about their time in the community while the younger ones did quads. People howled, played with squeak toys. No one cared. And most importantly, everyone agreed the infighting was pointless.
You WILL be accepted irl. This discourse doesn't matter. You are going to find your beings, and none of these online pissing contests mean anything once you meet others off the screen.
It's a beautiful place out there.
