Hey, random writing tip: Instead of having something be a ridiculously unlikely coincidence, you can make the thing happen due to who this particular character is as a person. Instead of getting stuck on "there's no logical reason to why that would happen", try to bend it into a case of "something like this would never happen to anybody but this specific fucker." Something that makes your reader chuckle and roll their eyes, going "well of course you would."
Why would the timid shy nerd be at a huge sketchy downtown black market bazaar? Well, she's got this beetle colony she's raising that needs a very specific kind of leaf for nest material, and there only place to get it is this one guy at the bazaar that sells that stuff. Why would the most femininely flamboyant guy ever known just happen to have downright encyclopedic knowledge about professional boxing? Well, there was this one time when he was down bad for this guy who was an aspiring professional boxer...
I know it sounds stupidly obvious when written out like this, but when you're up close to your writing, it's hard to see the forest for the trees. Some time ago I finished reading a book, where the whole plot hinges on character A, who is 100% certain that character B is dead, personally getting up and coming down from the top rooms of a castle, to the gates, at 3 am, to come look at some drunk who claims to be this guy who died 17 years ago. Why would A do that, if he's sure that B is dead?
Because he's a Warrior Guy from a culture of Loyalty And Honour, and hearing that someone's got the audacity to go about claiming to be his long-lost brother in battle, there is no other option than to immediately personally go down there to beat the ever-loving shit out of this guy. Who then turns out to actually be character B, after all.
Does anyone else get really anxious at night? Like to the point where you're having an anxiety attack while trying to sleep? Because it is debilitating. It's not every night but it's often enough that I struggle getting restful sleep. And medication doesn't help. Or calming tea. Or meditation (I have ADHD). Just this overwhelming sense of "If I close my eyes, something bad will happen."

Okay listen I have another disability related thing thatās important!!
If you have any disabilities linked to tooth decay/erosion, through direct cause or secondary symptom, it is vital that you get one or both of the following items: Sensodyne toothpaste and enamel repair mouthwash
This includes health conditions such as acid reflux, diabetes, thyroid conditions, fibromyalgia, chronic pain & mental illnesses such as depression that create poor hygiene routines, sensory issue disorders like autism and ADHD, and any health condition that causes frequent vomiting / increased stomach acid, including eating disorders and migraines.
All of these disabilities will erode the enamel of your teeth, not only opening you up to cavities but making it very easy to chip your teeth from such simple things as biting the wrong way on the tines of a fork. (Iāve chipped my teeth at least 4 times this way).
The toothpaste on the left here (sensodyne pronamel) is gentle on your teeth, wonāt cause painful sensations from any extreme mint flavor, and will even protect your gums if theyāre sensitive from any of these conditions.
The mouthwash on the right (Crest enamel repair) will, as it says, repair your enamel ā which is marvelous, because the technology to repair your enamel at all is relatively very new to society! ā but it is most importantly non-alcoholic. Meaning that it works well as a once-a-day rinse without any of the burning sensations of antiseptics that typically discourage people with sensory issues from taking care of their teeth.
I know remembering to do these things every day can feel like a lot when youāre sick and exhausted, but I promise a collective three minutes out of every day is going to save you an incredible amount of pain and money in the future. If your teeth are susceptible enough to rot, you can actually die from infection. And as they say, with how little insurance actually covers dental ā
Not brushing your teeth??
SANJI HEADCANONS!
āHOW HE LOVES;;
- all for nothing;; sanji doesnāt do half-measures. If he loves you, he loves you w/ everything he has. He will drop everything to make sure you are happy, sometimes at the cost of his own well-being.
- romance is second nature to him;; Not in a fake, performative way. He just genuinely enjoys making you feel adored. Expect small gestures such as a cup of tea made just how you like it, a flower tucked behind your ear, a hand on your waist when no oneās watching .. etc
- Food is His Love Language;; He will learn your cravings before you even realize you have them. Stressing out? Hereās your favorite dish. Had a long day? Heās already making something warm and comforting. Nothing says āI love youā like a perfectly plated meal with your name written in sauce.
- Always Touching You;; Nothing overbearing, just little things, fingers brushing yours when he hands you a plate, a hand at the small of your back, adjusting your collar because āTch, you canāt just walk around looking like that.ā Itās his way of staying connected.
-Sanji is the embodiment of a walking romance novel at first;; Expect dramatic gesturesāroses, candlelit dinners (even if itās just on the Sunny), and calling you every pet name under the sun (mon amour, darling, my loveāit never stops).
- His flirting is still constant, but he gets flustered when you flirt back;; If you casually say something like, āYouāre handsome, you know that?ā this man will short-circuit. Starts stammering, suddenly canāt make eye contact he was NOT prepared.
āDATING SANJI MEANS..
Late-Night Conversations in the Kitchen;; When the ship is quiet, youāll find him there, brewing tea or making something light. If youāre up too, heāll pull out a chair, pour you a drink, and just talk. Those moments feel intimateājust you, him, and the soft glow of the kitchen dim lights.
Being Taken Care of (Even If You Donāt Ask);; Cold? Heās draping his jacket over your shoulders. Feeling sick? Heās already making soup. Had a rough day? His fingers are in your hair, massaging your scalp as he hums quietly.
Dealing with His Stubbornness ā He will absolutely not admit when he needs help. Youāll have to learn how to trick him into resting. Maybe you tell him you ājust want companyā so heāll sit down next to you. Maybe you grab his wrist before he can light another cigarette and just hold it until he sighs and relents. He wonāt say it, but he appreciates it more than he can put into words.
- Watching Him Go from Sweet to Deadly in Seconds;; You know heās the most charming, caring person, but the moment someone disrespects you? Thatās gone. His voice gets low, his smile sharp, and the guy who was just flirting w/ you suddenly finds himself face down on the floor.
āHIS FLAWS;;
- Bottles up emotions;; Acts fine until he explodesāeither sharp words or total isolation.
- Stubborn as hell;; Will die on a hill even when heās wrong.
- Self-destructive;; Would rather suffer alone than let others get hurt (Whole Cake Island, anyone?).
- Overthinks everything;; Acts smooth, but internally spiraling (āDid I sound dumb? Are they mad?ā).
- Jealous but wonāt admit it;; Plays it cool until someone flirts with youāthen suddenly all touchy.
First time making these, itās just some thoughts⦠lmk if you want anyone else too!!! :D
Dear Supporter,
I hope this message finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. My name is Rakan Zaqout from Gaza.š I am reaching out to seek your urgent help in spreading the word about our fundraising campaign. I lost both my home and my school, my parents lost their jobs too, due to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and we are facing catastrophic living conditions.š
I kindly ask you to visit our campaign. Your support, whether through donating or sharing, will help us reach more people who can make a difference. Thank you for your continued support for the Palestinian cause. Your dedication brings us closer to freedom.š
Please note, our campaign has been verified by 90-ghost and aces-and-angels.ā
I will help spread awareness
It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Slowly, collectively, we can make a difference in these people's lives. Share and donate as much as you can. https://docs.google.com/document/d/178EGDFKkHlh3y4TMVX82kqgITHsqtoMdNccI2f_94Os/edit?usp=sharing
Prev: Non-Lethal Injury Ideas
Need some creative ways to give your characters a real fight for survival? Here are 10 ideas:Ā
1. Punctured Artery
A puncture to major arteries like the femoral artery (thigh), the carotid artery (neck), or radial artery (arm) can cause rapid blood loss. It starts off with a sharp pain, weakness, lightheadedness and eventually can lead to hypovolemic shock. Requires urgent medical attention.
2. Punctured Eye Socket
A punctured eye socket will cause blood vessel damage leading to internal bleeding. I would use this for non-combat characters trying to get away. The eyes are an easy weak spot + you donāt need much strength to cause a critical injury/puncture.Ā Also good for a protag's tragic backstory.
3. Torn Achilles Tendon
A torn Achilles tendon can result in severe bleeding if nearby arteries or veins are damaged. Your character will be forced to hobble away as pain causes their foot to swell and bruise. Plus, you can easily adjust the pain levels per your scene, from swift cuts to explosive jumps.Ā
4. Neck Hyperextension (Hangmanās Fracture)
This injury will fracture the C2 vertebra and can lead to spinal cord damage, paralysis or sudden death. This isnāt a light injury your character can come back from, so I would suggest using it only when youāre aiming for death.
5. Pierced Lung
A punctured lung will lead to a pneumothorax where air escapes into the chest cavity, collapsing the lung. Characters with this injury may have difficulty breathing, chest pain, and a cough that produces frothy blood (all the dramatics you need).Ā
6. Severe Concussion
A severe concussion will lead to confusion, vomiting, immobility and memory loss. More dangerously, brain swelling, internal bleeding and damaged brain tissue. Plus, it has a long recovery period.Ā
7. Shattered Pelvis
If you need something severe that restricts mobility but also causes severe pain then this is perfect! Involves signs of shock, internal bleeding, numbness, swellingāreally a lot of things.Ā Can occur if OC falls from a high place, hit repeatedly, car accident, etc. Ā
8. Internal Bleeding from Blunt Force Trauma
I like using this when you need something subtle since it doesn't show immediate symptoms.Ā Over time, they will feel weak, cold, nauseous, and intense pain. Perfect if you want that 'everyone made it out then suddenly someone collapses' moment.Ā
9. Intestinal Perforation
A sharp blow or penetrating wound can cause a tear in the intestines, leaking bacteria into the body cavity, then peritonitis. It can go from small stomach pain to near death pretty quickly. Without prompt medical care, sepsis can set in, causing organ failure and death.
10. Cut to the Jugular
If you need something more visibly dramatic then go with the classic cut to the jugular. A warm rush of blood will pour out, and blood would spurt with every heartbeat. Causes panic, choking, and internal bleeding too. All the blood and gore you need.Ā
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. Remember the worse the injury the more likely your character is to die (so be realistic folks). Happy writing! :)
