A fantastic point! Never made the connection to the real world 'everyman' duelist, but it makes so much sense.
Although I did always think it was hilarious that in a universe where chance outcomes can be demonstrably affected by circumstances (morality, determination, rule of cool...), a guy with neither destiny nor money on his side pulled ahead of the competition by *building a deck around gambling.*
big fan of how much of a bitch he is
someone in the comment section on todays' page mentioned this and i couldn't get it out of my head.
Don't you just love a cozy little fandom? :D
@professorfoglio replied to your post “y'all about to make me never liveblog girl genius...”:
Hey. The whole purpose of this stuff is to entertain. We tried REALLY HARD to not make the novels have any "spoilers", but, I will confess that they DO contain more information than the comic. It's a different medium. Personally, I get a kick out of your updates. I would say, treat any comments you get like we treat fan fiction: we know its there, but we do not allow ourselves to read it, and assume it's all positive. Good luck!

uh...hi? big fan.
still working on getting through first read but The Horrors are interfering
i uh thanks for the advice!
Dance the Night by Dua Lipa, 100%. Heard it and was like hmmm...an absolutely glitterific bop hiding an indomitable spirit plagued by heartache. Yes, I have a blorbo this will pair with quite nicely, methinks.
Dear Nightwing fans, please drop your song recs for him :D
"Sleep." As in "rubbing the sleep from your eyes"
What do you call the stuff that accumulate in the corners of your eyes while you sleep?
Morning dust
Grandma's tears
Goblin tears
Night salt
Eye goobers
Soundlies
Nighties
Dreamies
Mouse droppings
Something else (please share)
I know this concept but have no word for it
I'm not familiar with this concept
This is literally the moral of one of Aesop's Fables the wolf and the spring lamb, and is more relevant today than ever before.
Your occasional reminder that if you post an art piece or a piece of writing that isn't very good, nothing bad will happen.
It's nothing to be scared of, what are people gonna do, be mean to you? Cruel people never need a "reason" to be mean to you, they do that anyway!
Fuck it!
IT'S BACK! Oh man I never even considered the possibility of SH bumping into Watson as an accident 🤩
It is the spring of the year 1894, and Sherlock Holmes has been dead for three years. Watson's Sketchbook returns with THE EMPTY HOUSE - part 1! Bonus points to whoever recognizes what classic of Victorian literature Holmes is quoting on the first page.
notes under the cut:
Holmes references dressing as a woman in the Adventure of the Mazarin Stone - I always wanted to see more of that disguise:
Watson is in mourning. Men did not wear as elaborate mourning as women in this era, but the extra wide hatband was one way to convey a deep personal loss. Who that loss is referring to is probably not something that Watson is entirely honest about, even to himself:
There's a theory from Madeleine B. Stern that Holmes's bookseller was a real life person named Alfred B. Clementson, and that he impersonates him in Empty House, so I nabbed that name.
Looks like these guys are okay, after all :)
I managed to decode the lower speech bubble, got most stumped on the first, and then realized I could and should wait for the expert fandom decoders to do it for me XD . Never has phonetic spelling been so unintelligible, nor fans so dedicated to decoding it anyways.
I would like to thank the wonderful folks in the girl genius server for joining me as soon as thenpage dropped last night for us all to collectively transcribe and decode Zoing's speech about what's going wrong on castle Wulfenbach. The best guess we settled on was:
"He came back! Gilgamesh go walk about and father came back! A scary clank lady want to fix a new body in a tank, making new brain to put brain in tank body in a big lab!"
"It’s gonna work and then she in command of the whole ship and empire and everything! It’s bad!"
Which sounds like Lucrezia is on board stealing herself a new organic body that can potentially go queen mode! Uh oh!
Dick Grayson: so as you can see I definitely win the 'stupidest kidnapping' competition by virtue of having been abducted by a literal bird-brain :D
Other Batkids: HOW SMALL were you when you started crtimefighting?!?!
My favorite genre of image is plushies getting grabbed by hawks
How did I miss this?! I have seen this episode more than half a dozen times how the heck- oh right the faceblindness XD
I laugh every time I remember that kirk’s brother was just william shatner in a mustache in tos
Everyone's favorite canonically psychic little sidekick support character
