season 2 Spoke,,Spoke in season 2,,,,
[CW: possibly disturbing descriptions of injury]
headcanon time !! the withering effect wears your skin down and makes it paler. it also sorta "rots" your bones and makes them darker,, like a wither skeleton !! so your bones become all visible and stuff. however, cause Spoke is a thing creature thing guy creature thing it affects him a bit differently and doesn't really harm him !! i mean it probably still really hurts but it doesn't take the same physical toll on him than it does on non-guy creature things so he basically just ends up looking rly cool (and feeling like his skin is gonna fall off but hey !! that's better than that actually happening)
On the topic of humans being everyone’s favorite Intergalactic versions of Gonzo the Great: Come on you guys, I’ve seen all the hilarious additions to my “humans are the friendly ones” post. We’re basically Steve Irwin meets Gonzo from the Muppets at this point. I love it.
But what if certain species of aliens have Rules for dealing with humans?
Don’t eat their food. If human food passes your lips/beak/membrane/other way of ingesting nutrients, you will never be satisfied with your ration bars again.
Don’t tell them your name. Humans can find you again once they know your name and this can be either life-saving or the absolute worst thing that could happen to you, depending on whether or not they favor you. Better to be on the safe side.
Winning a human’s favor will ensure that a great deal of luck is on your side, but if you anger them, they are wholly capable of wiping out everything you ever cared about. Do not anger them.
If you must anger them, carry a cage of X’arvizian bloodflies with you, for they resemble Earth mo-skee-toes and the human will avoid them.
This does not always work. Have a last will and testament ready.
Do not let them take you anywhere on your planet that you cannot fly a ship from. Beings who are spirited away to the human kingdom of Aria Fiv-Ti Won rarely return, and those that do are never quite the same.
Basically, humans are like the Fair Folk to some aliens and half of them are scared to death and the others are like alien teenagers who are like “I dare you to ask a human to take you to Earth”.
Finding beta readers for a novel is so scary. Like hi, here, please read this thing I’ve been working on for 10 years. It contains thousands of little pieces of me. I want you to tear it apart so I can put it back together even stronger. It has dragons.

hm. s3 was chock full of Shit Happening To Jon. he was kidnapped multiple times, held at knifepoint, his hand was severely burned, he got sent to the forever falling dimension, almost got skinned alive, half of the shit that happens to him in s3 all happen within the same week, and it was just generally not a fun time. then the unknowing happens and he literally gets blown up and sent into a coma.
for six months.
sure, a lot of what happens to Jon is partially because he's running headfirst into danger, but a lot of it also just happens to him. people know him as The Archivist, and decide to hurt him. kidnapping, mostly.
but for six months, he is completely unconscious, mostly dead, unable to move, speak, see, hear, or call out for help. he has never been morr vulnerable, more utterly helpless. and the only people that visit him seem to have been Martin, and Oliver.
Oliver, who is an avatar, who knows him as The Archivist, and.... doesn't wish him harm. He was just curious about him, and seemed to have been told to be there, so he went. And in his own way, he even saved him. He even chose to call him by his actual name.
After everything that happened to him, the one inhuman thing to visit him at his most helpless, didn't want to hurt him. He helped. I already understood Jon's thoughts about not smiting Oliver, but this makes it hit harder, I think.
Also do you think martin ever worried about something coming for Jon while he was comatose. Do you think he worried about that.
