She laughed, the sound of it bouncing off the walls, even with the eerie theme music of the film playing. “Yeah, dude. I made a whole human. Wild, right?” She shook her head. Being pregnant and giving birth and taking care of a whole human child were the scariest, most painful, disgusting things that had ever happened to her. But unconditional love was always kind of like that.
Her nose scrunched at the word ‘boyfriend’ and she shook her head again. “Nah, it’s… it’s just me.” It sounded kind of sad when she said it like that, but Ren preferred it this way. Having Max all to herself. It was selfish, of course, but when had Ren ever done anything that wasn’t? Leo knew that more than most. “Do you… want to see a picture of him? You can say no, I know not everybody likes babies.”
-
Leo smiled again hearing that melodic laugh. His mind had selected her voice above the film. wild, indeed. he began feeling the true weight of time once again. he hadn’t been there for any of the changes time had brought her, and vice versa. but had enough time past that he didn’t view her as the first and only woman to break his heart?
Just you, he thought, repeating it to himself in a sad tone. Leo knew being a parent wasn’t easy. Hell, one of his parents passed away and the other gave him up to stop being his parents. How she was doing it on her own was hard for him to wrap his head around. Especially when he was the type to not even have a pet. He looked at her with this admirable look on his face. She was always so independent. “Yeah, show me,” he as his curiosity began to grow. Maybe seeing her son would actually help the reality that she was a parent click in his thick skull. “You’re the first person I know to have a kid.” He added, letting her know this was a new experience for him.

camila really didn’t have the right mind for an acting class today, but a) she didn’t want to bail on leo, since she also liked to spend time with him and b) she did need the coaching. especially now, where the ballerina didn’t know what her career would look like in a few months, she needed to take everything that she currently got. even an acting class ― because maybe she’d never dance on a stage again, but at least for a camera.
❝ fuck. ❞ she cursed under her breath, one hand running through her already disheveled hair as she looked down at the script she was supposed to work with today. ❝ sorry, leo ― can we try that again ? ❞
acting was definitely not her best talent, but she also didn’t suck at it. today, however, it looked like she just made a fool out of herself. camila was surprised that he even had managed to keep up with her so far.
once more, she took a deep breath, repeating the line she had to say in her head as she was facing leo. it was simple, just a break-up scenario, where she had to put all her emotions into. but before she could even snap back into her role, camila cursed like crazy again, already giving up because in a sense, she saw herself too much in this, and she didn’t just consider this acting more. but she knew she had to put her personal differences aside. ❝ fuck, seriously ― i don’t know how. can’t you practice that line with me, so i can see how it’s done ? feel free to break up with me. ❞ at least there was still some sense of humor within the petite woman left as she let out a soft laughter at her own comment .

leo was focused. he had always completely thrown himself into classes. it was the only thing in the world that he had that was purely his. correction, only thing in the world that was close enough to what he wanted the most. but his dedication to it would not falter. he stood there with dark circles under his eyes, managing to push through the ache in his skull in order to work with camila.
“I’m saying we see how it goes later on..” he recited, looking at his scene partner. he swallowed, wanting this to be over. this scene had a conscience that leo didn’t have. noah was selfless, moving himself out of the way so his love would have a better future. leo on the other hand was in short, not selfless. but it was the good scene for her to exercise her ability to run a scene at high emotion. he was working with her to broaden her range. when camila didn’t deliver her line correctly, he repeated himself at her prompt. this time he did it with bits of soft inflictions his voice. he wanted to bring her back into the scene with him. a scene of two young lovers who were being torn apart by summer’s cruel end, or in better words: life’s social classes. they were finally at the moment that allie realized that noah was breaking up with her.
when camila failed to deliver her line again, leo hung his head forward and back dramatically. though he did as some playful way to dig at her, but it was also turned out to be a great neck stretch. “I can do that, but that’ll be useless if I can’t find out what’s keeping you from staying in the scene.” he said, with knuckles tapping on his his script. “you stop right before you get to slap me around. usually people can’t wait for that kind of thing.” he said, humorously before becoming serious again, “what’s going on? do we need workshop the emotions or the mannerisms?” he asked, really focused on the art from of acting. he didn’t see how it could be about the material. this breakup scene could be so upsetting but it from far from anything he had personally experienced.

“I didn’t mean it like that…I just meant you have a wife. And a life. Outside of…me.” Blake felt bad because she’d never meant to make the man feel like he wasn’t important to her because he was. God more than he knew considering she was growing his child in her stomach right now, but the motherly urge to protect her unborn baby had instinctively overpowered everything else. Including telling him he was about to become a father. As the train slowed to a halt she could take her hand off the loop hanging above her head, using it to fiddle with the nails on her other hand. Looking down, a nervous tick.
It wasn’t until she heard his next words that the woman looked back up, wide eyed. Had Leo just confessed to … even though he was married. She’d considered herself nothing more than a mistress in his eyes but maybe she had been mistaken. Even the notion of getting it wrong had made her feel foolish. And guilty if she’d misjudged him that badly. “He’s not in the picture.” She blurted out as he tried to walk away, making a small step to follow him but finding her path blocked by someone else’s bag. “I don’t have a partner….”
-
Leo nodded, knowing she was right. But even though he was married, he couldn’t help himself but feel important enough in her life to matter. Especially since they had shared themselves so intimately. Had he been wrong? Should he had been more heartless if he were going to play the devil’s game?
“What?” he asked and pushed past a stranger in order to be in front of her once again. “You’re doing it all by yourself?” He asked, his voice filled with concern more than anything. He pushed past the voice shouting that it wasn’t his problem. But it was now, especially if she were alone. He cared about Blake even if he had kept her like a dirty little secret. He still cared about her and wanted to keep her around. and to decide to be a single mother was courageous in Leo’s eyes. His own mother, hell, his own parents couldn’t even do it for him. In the spur of a moment, Leo reached for Blake’s hands and held them in his own. “I’ll be here for you, whatever you need. I’ll do whatever I can.” He promised, looking back into her wide eyes.
What is your biggest fear, and what would you do if it came true?
Leo's currently in the midst of living out his biggest fear. He's just waiting for the other shoe to drop. He had his fun with his mistress, a little too much, that it resulted in him becoming a father. Leo had never thought about having children before and he had suddenly became one in a hospital room with his mistress and ex girlfriend present. But still his wife hasn't found out and that is his biggest fear of all, for the woman he asked to marry him - find out who he actually is. And what does the coward plan to do? Hide. Whether that'd be emotionally or physically or mentally. Leo's been drinking to cope.
danny: I'm not starting anything I'm just observing that u have the right dad energy
danny: My man I don't think it's the gods picking on u I think u just make terrible decisions lol
danny: Literally how did u not know they knew each other
leo: ugh I'm a dad
leo: I basically haven't seen (my ex) Serenity in ten years, and I've never met any of (baby mama) Blake's friends except her roommate
leo: I know it's a mess, and that's without telling Vihana
leo: I know she's going to leave me the second I tell her
And just like that, she’s the victim again. Masterful.

who: @le0davis where: some half-abandoned theatre in lower manhattan what: in which leo and ren get slapped in the face with nostalgia
This wasn’t Ren’s first time away from Max, but it still felt weird every time she left him with her mom. Being alone felt unnatural now, like she was missing a limb. She’d spent her entire life trying not to get too attached to anyone at all, and now here she was, heart aching for a boy. All that being said, she did find a moment to marinate in the eerie silence of the almost-abandoned cinema. Just as she’d suspected, there was absolutely no one in here, and the ticket seller had looked at her like maybe she was a ghost.
The film was an obscure horror film from the 50s called The Creeping Unknown, and the old floors creaked as she made her way through the empty auditorium to find a seat. It was the perfect atmosphere for some much-needed alone time… but then she saw the mop of curls peeking over a seat in one of the middle rows. Not only had this intruder invaded her quiet night, but they’d also taken the best seat in the place. Despite herself, she was intrigued, and made her way over, just to see what kind of person had the same strange idea of a fun night…
But of course it was him.
“…Leo?” she asked (but who else would it be?).
-
Leo needed a moment to himself that didn’t involve women, work, or alcohol. he needed the silence and care that a theatre could give him. He scored as he sat down on the perfect seat, dead center of the entire theatre. It was completely empty. Just him and the silver screen. It was a haven that he hadn’t had in a long time. And of course, it was an obscure science fiction horror film was a comforting choice for him. He sat comfortably with a small bucket of popcorn in one hand with his soda on the ground in front of the left seat beside him.
He had heard the theatre creak but had thought nothing of it. Until he had heard a voice, he flinched at the sound of his name. Who had found him here in his safe space? He turned his head to see the owner of the voice. He looked at her, stunned, with his hand frozen in his popcorn bucket. “R-ren?” he questioned with narrowed eyes as he looked upon her in the dim lighting. He couldn’t believe it. and then it happened, a brief flash of the first time he saw her to the painful last time he had seen her. it was like his heart in his chest was given a tight squeeze and dragged down to his stomach. “uhh,” he drawled through the pain. it had been ten years but it felt like yesterday, seeing her now. “i’ll leave.” he blurted out, standing up so abruptly, bits of popcorn flung everywhere.
