Hey league lore fans, how about we make our own tag specifically for league of legends related stuff since the actual League of Legends tag is overrun with arcane stuff? I was thinking "runeterrablr" since runeterra's the world we're all attached to but i dont wanna completely overrun the 'legends of runeterra' tag by accident. Does anyone have any other suggestions 😭

im a cringe romantic and a diehard angst enjoyer but. i like to think. that in their lowest, most secret moments, amongst the seemingly endless suffering and hatred, leagueverse vikjayce desperately yearned for the ending arcane jayvik got. dying together, side by side. getting to break out of the violent cycle by ridding the world of their existence, but also. ensuring their souls would spend the rest of eternity together once more.

people mostly focus on the timebomb "happy ending" universe bc it's obvious but?? with their old league lore in mind, i genuinely think that knowing how terribly doomed vikjayce have always been, the ending they got in arcane is actually the "happiest ending" they could've possibly gotten.

Sometimes I lay awake at night and think about Arcane!Jayce and LoL!Jayce being so fundamentally different that they're literally different characters. And yet, Arcane Jayce does not feel out of character (at least to me). They both feel like two halves of a single soul.

For me, it's because Arcane!Jayce is what LoL!Jayce would have been if even a single person in his life had fucking cared about him.

LoL!Jayce doesn't have a loving mother, no family, no last name. All he is is a brilliant mind and a mouth with no filter.

The clans of Piltover don't care about Jayce. Buying his apprenticeship like he's a piece of meat to be used and discarded. They only care about what he can create. They feed his ego until there is only the Brilliant Inventor and no more Jayce. They stroke his ego until he becomes insufferable and then he's even more alone but now they've corrupted and molded him into something else. cruelly morphing him into an egotistical monster so that he doesn't even realize he's lonely. He tells himself it's good no one likes him because he doesn't fucking need them! They'll only slow him down.

And then comes Viktor, a young man who's so alluring because he's brilliant just like Jayce. And then Viktor becomes his whole world. They do everything together. Jayce's ego and loud mouth don't scare Viktor away, not like the others. They work in tandem so well, moving as one. Jayce doesn't need people or love or attention or a family because he has Viktor.

And then they fight.

Viktor, perfect brilliant Viktor, has gray morals. He wants to help people by hurting them, by taking their agency away. Jayce can't let that happen. Agency is all some people have. It's a human right.

So they fight and they fight.

And now Viktor is gone. The only person in Jayce's life is gone. But Jayce can't let him go. Especially not after Viktor steals from him. He has to get his research back so he fights back. Crushed when Viktor tries to actually kill him.

Jayce doesn't want to kill Viktor. Viktor's all he has!

So he destroys Viktor's lab. Has to stop him. Get's the crystal back.

He gets home and Piltover sinks her claws into him once more. Creeping, crawling, corrupting tendrils curling under his bruised skin. They whisper in his ear and stoke his ego higher and higher until it towers above all else. They call him the Defender of Tomorrow and he believes them. He wears the title with pride. It's his duty to help others.

...but he wants Viktor...

So, they fight. They fight and fight and fight. For years on end they fight.

Because only in those moments can he see Viktor, can touch him, can hear his ever changing voice, and bask in his brilliance once again.

Arcane Viktor: Why do you persist? After everything I've done?

I feel strange and a lil awkward (dejected really) that sometimes it feels like I'm the only one that loves pre-Arcane LoL-canon!Jayce. I feel like I was the only one excited to hear that Jayce would be in Arcane.

He's been one of my critters for a little over 10 years now.

He's actually the only reason I watched Arcane. Because as someone who plays both ADC and Support, I fucking hate Cait and VI.

LoL!Jayce is forgotten, boring, pompous, arrogant, a genius that's a fucking moron, and a giant ass. Seriously, the guy's a dick.

But, because he's a dick but also a hero it actually makes him extremely compelling to me. He's full of contradictions:

He thinks he's better than everyone else yet also wants the world for everyone.

He wants everyone to be safe and happy but also he just really doesn't like people.

He's arrogant and self-centered but also awkward and anti-social.

Self-centered but not selfish.

Full of morals and ethics yet incredibly weak-willed and naive when it comes to the few people he admires.

He's this big, important inventor and defender of Piltover but also he has like 2 friends because no one can stand him.

He learns humility and that he's a giant fuckin' jerk through his own insecurity when he's not smart enough to immediately figure out a scientific problem. It actually causes him to rethink about life, people, and how he interacts with others. He realizes he needs to fix it but doesn't know how and has to fight against his nature to not be a total douche.

Jayce makes no sense in a perfectly human way. It's this garbled mess of a personality that makes him feel truly human to me.

can anyone recommend me any original lore fics? It’s just really hard to find any that are about Jayce who is STILL Giopara. I’m mourning over the machine herald re work. And the Jayce Giopara erasure so I just need some good fics

Is there a fic out there where S1 jayce, Viktor, S2 jayce, Viktor and league of Legends jayce and Viktor all end up in the same room together. Bc I just want to read them all reacting to each other and interacting.

wait hear me out jayce talis and jayce giopara swapped bodies and while they try to find a way to go back to their own timeline, they also have to learn to deal with the new timeline's viktors as well

i think a lot about how ultimately, league jayce and viktor’s story was about elitism in academia — more than that, it has a lot to say about restrictions that are created in sponsor-ship based academia, which ultimately creates restrictions based on the “acceptability” or “fundability” of research, which ultimately leads to an academia that only serves the elite.

like, jayce (both in arcane and league) is a member of the middle class. whether or not its blue collar or upper middle class remains to be seen/up to interpretation, but the fact remains that he’s NOT a member of the elite. viktor is also NOT a member of the elite, he’s from the literal lowest echelon of their society. but the difference between them is the veneer of respectability politics. jayce ingratiates himself to piltover’s elite, becomes an apprenta for them, takes on the name of one of the highest houses in piltover’s upper class (giopara) and later moves to work directly under a house even more revered (ferros), thanks to their tireless work in keeping the lower caste (zaun) oppressed.

viktor, on the other hand, is ousted from the academic circle both he and jayce operated within when his work is STOLEN by stanwick, who is a professor with familial ties TO piltover’s elite, and also in a position of much higher authority by virtue of being a professor. viktor represents grassroots, anti-establishment academia, which is both entirely unregulated (an issue in and of itself! by the way!) but also in no way even allowed to sniff at the kinds of legitimacy only conferred to academics in that circle of elites.

both jayce and viktor are brilliant. but it’s also because of that ever present boot on the neck of academic progress (the rich) that neither of their work is actually able to do any of the good both aspire to. league jayce is a glorified weapons maker and superhero. viktor is reduced to a madman with no regard for free will, his actual contributions left in the dirt because they are “unappealing.” meanwhile, the real problem — camille ferros, for one — profits off the both of them.

do NOT get me started on how this manifests in arcane.

Everyone is always joking that if Jayce Giopara met Jayce Talis that they'd immediately hate each other and start fighting.

While funny, personally, I don't think so.

I think that Talis would hate Giopara for what's happened to Victor. And blame him even though there's not a force on heaven or Runeterra that could have stopped Viktor from chopping off limbs.

I think Giopara's mental walls would just crash down to protect himself from his oncoming depression when meeting Talis. Looking at Talis would be like looking through a fractured mirror at a world you could never experience.

Talis has a loving, attentive mother. He has a last name and a legacy. Close, loving friendships. And a reciprocated friendship with Viktor.

All things Giopara has never had.

Reminder, Jayce Giopara has no mentioned family or even a last name. Giopara is the name of the clan that held his first apprenticeship. Also, because he doesn't understand social cues and how not to be rude, Jayce never had friends until he was an adult. Viktor was the closest thing he had to a friend (and Viktor thought he was an irritating ass) his whole life until he learned to be nicer once Viktor was gone.

So, no, I don't think Giopara would initially attack Talis. Not until he saw him do science then he'd attack him for being stupid enough to endanger lives.

Haven’t seen anyone mention this but I’m lowkey obsessed with the parallel of Arcane!Jayce killing commune Viktor and thus the cultists to League!Jayce trying to get back the Hex crystal from Machine Herald Viktor and thus being forced to/accidentally killing the comatose patients.

One of my favorite universes to make up is a mild crossover between League canon and Arcane canon where Jayce and Viktor are cousins with their League counterparts, with the League versions being older.

Not only because the Arcane and League versions are very different and it's really fun to make different stories and dynamics with them all, but because of 2 things

1) Making comparisons and contrasts with the Jayces and Viktors, like how they relate with the family dynamics (like how cousins with the same name absolutely need different nicknames to be told apart or how they look somehow completely different but the same man in different fonts)

2) How Vikjayce somehow ends up being less catastrophically messy by comparison to Jayvik, despite the much worse starting point as the only people who can stand the other's ego

tbh i feel like the reason why original lore jayvik is still so much better than arcane jayvik is that they have FAR STRONGER motivations. They both want to be the best at what they do, they make a rivalry of it, and they despise the political games surrounding them in equal measure.

League vik/jayce who bond over openly mocking high-society parties. Who are just barely humoring their stupid investors so they have an excuse to keep working together. League vik/jayce who firmly believe only ONE guy on earth understands them enough to operate on the same level. Who will chase each other to the ends of this universe, and through all the others.

Viktor wants to make the world perfect. His idealism is so great that it sways Jayce from his lonely cynicism, makes him fall head over heels --- while Jayce is increasingly afraid that Vik's growing idea of perfection means becoming the very unjust totalitarian power he's always hated. Their conflict works because in deep and persistent way they know part of the other is right.

Its just completely ridiculous to me how the show dropped their ying/yang balance to throw in... a dumb council-assistant and politician plot 🙄 Viktor would never swallow being a traitor to his own homeland like that! Jayce's *entire thing* is that he chooses to believe in humanity's goodness and capacity to make things right over forcibly ordering them around! THAT'S WHY THEY WANT TO KISS EACHOTHER IN THE MOUTH.

Why is Riot rewriting Viktor and Jayce’s bios to be more in line with Arcane lore? The beauty of them is that there’s two very different versions of them that both make sense, like two sides of a coin. If Riot removes the old versions, I will actually lose interest in Jayvik. This is coming from someone who entered the fandom through Arcane and has never played League, and yet I still treasure this version of them.
