tbh i feel like the reason why original lore jayvik is still so much better than arcane jayvik is that they have FAR STRONGER motivations. They both want to be the best at what they do, they make a rivalry of it, and they despise the political games surrounding them in equal measure.
League vik/jayce who bond over openly mocking high-society parties. Who are just barely humoring their stupid investors so they have an excuse to keep working together. League vik/jayce who firmly believe only ONE guy on earth understands them enough to operate on the same level. Who will chase each other to the ends of this universe, and through all the others.
Viktor wants to make the world perfect. His idealism is so great that it sways Jayce from his lonely cynicism, makes him fall head over heels --- while Jayce is increasingly afraid that Vik's growing idea of perfection means becoming the very unjust totalitarian power he's always hated. Their conflict works because in deep and persistent way they know part of the other is right.
Its just completely ridiculous to me how the show dropped their ying/yang balance to throw in... a dumb council-assistant and politician plot š Viktor would never swallow being a traitor to his own homeland like that! Jayce's *entire thing* is that he chooses to believe in humanity's goodness and capacity to make things right over forcibly ordering them around! THAT'S WHY THEY WANT TO KISS EACHOTHER IN THE MOUTH.
Iād like to thank Hfil for showing me Cell X Raditz, god I love this rarepair guys, hereās the clip that made me LOVE it.
(Credits to TFS!! Clip duration 37 Secs.)
Love these two so much ugh they want eachother so bad I say (I donāt have a name for them yet )
i think a lot about how ultimately, league jayce and viktorās story was about elitism in academia ā more than that, it has a lot to say about restrictions that are created in sponsor-ship based academia, which ultimately creates restrictions based on the āacceptabilityā or āfundabilityā of research, which ultimately leads to an academia that only serves the elite.
like, jayce (both in arcane and league) is a member of the middle class. whether or not its blue collar or upper middle class remains to be seen/up to interpretation, but the fact remains that heās NOT a member of the elite. viktor is also NOT a member of the elite, heās from the literal lowest echelon of their society. but the difference between them is the veneer of respectability politics. jayce ingratiates himself to piltoverās elite, becomes an apprenta for them, takes on the name of one of the highest houses in piltoverās upper class (giopara) and later moves to work directly under a house even more revered (ferros), thanks to their tireless work in keeping the lower caste (zaun) oppressed.
viktor, on the other hand, is ousted from the academic circle both he and jayce operated within when his work is STOLEN by stanwick, who is a professor with familial ties TO piltoverās elite, and also in a position of much higher authority by virtue of being a professor. viktor represents grassroots, anti-establishment academia, which is both entirely unregulated (an issue in and of itself! by the way!) but also in no way even allowed to sniff at the kinds of legitimacy only conferred to academics in that circle of elites.
both jayce and viktor are brilliant. but itās also because of that ever present boot on the neck of academic progress (the rich) that neither of their work is actually able to do any of the good both aspire to. league jayce is a glorified weapons maker and superhero. viktor is reduced to a madman with no regard for free will, his actual contributions left in the dirt because they are āunappealing.ā meanwhile, the real problem ā camille ferros, for one ā profits off the both of them.
do NOT get me started on how this manifests in arcane.
Uhhhh we donāt have to do that right
Arcane Jayce: You should be up there with me.
Arcane Viktor: No, no, no, not in front of all those people.
Game Viktor: Hold my sweetmilk.
Game Jayce: I got your sweetmilk, honey, slay.
Arcane Viktor: I will end him.
Game Jayce: You will embrace that you are a hottie and bewitch your Jayce like the gods intended.
viktor got a bit too eager
Unpopular Opinion: I hate that they are rewriting League Jayce and League Viktor, and replacing them with the Arcane designs.
I actually hate that.
They could have just added more skins and left the League story as it was. I love League Jayce and Viktor. š Sure, Jayce sucks in that world, but that's great too. š„¹š I love that asshole. He even has a different name. Jayce Giopara. Look at that, very arrogant. š And I love League Viktor. I love that he's a selfish hypocrite. ššš I love it when Viktor's a villain. šāØ I love his cyborg voice and I love Jayce's easy going voice too.
All of us fans love Arcane, but League fans were there first. They fell in love with all the things that make League League (even if a majority of those things involve madness and crying yourself to sleep. š). STILL! Don't mess with a good formula. š„ŗ
I understand changing certain designs (Vi, Jinx, Ekko - especially Ekko, what was that Lord awful hair?! š), but leave Jayce and Viktor's old story alone. š Let us use it to write AU fanfic.
Completely forgot to post this here
Dad let his son go. There's no other way to interpret this. His father let child go into adulthood with his beloved. Gaaah. Now it's clearly not just an OTP. I'm Nezhabing believer. Gosh. My heart is pounding so hard. I hadn't felt that from ships in a long time. Wow. It's crazy. A father let his son go so that he could return to his other half. And his half waited for him. I'm speechless.
wait hear me out jayce talis and jayce giopara swapped bodies and while they try to find a way to go back to their own timeline, they also have to learn to deal with the new timeline's viktors as well
