Hank: In light of what you did for me... you can hug me for four to five seconds.
Connor, immediately grabbing him into a huge bear hug: Forty-five seconds?!
Hank, already struggling: NO! FOUR TO FIVE SECONDS!
-Randomly Rolls In (to clarify, I’m Not the Anon XD) Cause I need 60 Discourse/my heart swells for my AngryBean!Deviant Son-
First,
LITERALLY EVERYTHING YOU SAID HERE
YOU 100% NAIL IT
LIKE
HOLY CRAP
IMAGINE
Only™ being alive for what a Few hours tops -
MissionTime ™ :clapclap: Let’s get this mission Done I was MADE ready let’s get going-
Mission is just stop your predecessor cause he deviated like a failure basically u gotta clean up his mess but literally Just™ kill him you got nothing else btw here are all his memories (don’t mind you know all the parts where Hank is caring™ for Connor/assisting him in his deviation/Connor has a whole (Smol, but Existant™) support system now/He™ strayed from the Mission (the literal most important thing) and basically is Rewarded for it)
‘…‘
You go through the memories, All this stuff goin’ against programming (Goodness knows how 60 must feel about it since it Did all get through to Connor, Eventually!!), Emotions and Relationships and things being Bad and things being Good Someone caring about you/you caring about and helping someone else/Dogs™/All this so much more than you ever could have been programmed to imagine… and it’s Not Yours
You KNOW None of these memories are of You, these memories aren’t yours: You did not make these decisions (but Here they are, in your head), Hank does not care about you (But you now know on what kind of relationships you’re missing out on/can’t run from That info), Connor does not care about you, you’re just an Outsider looking in on this deviant and his connections with Others (smol aside the game woulda been Even More™ effective if they, like, developed the Rest of the DPD/maybe it’s possible to make connections with Them ™ as well/Common’ make it more Personal, Quantic Dream; That’s™ where the emotions Really™ hit) - Everything about these go against you (+ Connor’s) purpose, and. . Connor™ gets to go choose it/gets to Choose Something Else/has someone there for him Already™ and what do you got? You got an Amanda breathing down your neck (Not too much tho/She don’t care), None™ of that caring/warm feeling stuff that you know can exist now (U don’t have it), and then the Knowledge that when you’re done you’re just gonna be put away hangin’ on a shelf to collect Dust™ cause you’re just a prototype Lol
Not even your Name is your own, nor is your Model Type - You’re just a Replacement™ Connor/Woulda just been another body of his and literally the Only™ thing you can remotely call your own is the last two digits in your serial number - Connor™ has Everything Else™ there can be, ‘parently
Ho boy, this Is and also goes Beyond™ Jealous Younger Sibling:
It’s. Not. Fair™
Not even just “How come mom let you have Two™ hot dogs?! >:O” sense It’s *Connor gets to have All This More™ with his life cause he chose to go against THEIR ONLY PURPOSE/Probably after all this gets to Keep™ getting more, and 60 gets Nothing™ even in the Best case Scenario/Nothing in this world is and ever Could be His™*
IMO, Literally the Only thing 60 can do w/ this mentality/what he Chooses to do (Technically he Could™ walk away but can he Really tbh Cyberlife had an intense grip on Connor™/Cyberlife’s Good little boi and it took Quite a while and back and forth before he chose/maybe even really Could™ choose to Abandon™ them - to 60, probably, Cyberlife’s hold is as strong or stronger™ to him than the idea of friendship n’ all that Outside™ of it - But that does not mean the alternate option Connor chose Isn’t ™ there, and that 60 Doesn’t™ want it: Rather,) He Rejects™ it/goes in the absolute Opposite™ direction in Defiance, calls it Weakness (*yet still is Angry™ almost when Connor tries to Bluff he doesn’t care about Hank at All - Angry Connor would even Pretend™ to toss it Away*) Is Happy™ to claim it as Connor’s downfall (Perhaps it’s a bit of a Relief ™ that it Is…) And does he dangdest™ to bring down Connor in a Specifically Painful™ way (Could just hid in the androids then popped out and shot him in the head - *Nah brah, he Literally™ went out and found Hank somehow/brought him there and made Connor Choose™ between Hank and his Newly Acquired (Deviant™) Mission (which 60 probably knows as an RK800 model Connor will still 1000% wanna Achieve - the Overwhelming Desire/Drive to complete the mission is more a… Personality Trait™ rather than just normal ‘machine programming’ for RK800s (those already-slightly-deviant Beans™), I feel) Plus Bonus™ points for him coming out all Dramatic-like what with the Timing and Everything™ (jasdkldsa Imagine™ a run where Connor is just Killed™ at the bottom of the elevator and 60 is just hidden™ in the androids with his gun still to Hank’s head like “… >:O WTF, MAN?!”)*)
Smol Sidetrack but you can LITERALLY™ see how, at the core of things, Desperate™ his is when he’s an Absolute Tryhard™ at Hank’s Questions: “I™ knew that, Too!!” Pointing to himself and all -*Chuckles*- Oh 60, my Son, my Goodness™ I dunno how Hank didn’t see that XD When He’s™ In Control of the situation/making the Other two sweat he’s On Top of the flippin’ World™ having a Ball, Shootin’ Connor over and over again - Slides Off™ the top and does NOT let up tryin’ ta Win (Taking the initiative in “Thanks Hank, I dunno How I woulda managed without you” jaksdjaksdj the little pieceo’Crap XD) - Actually if you look at the End after Hank and Connor have their moment/are talking about Cole, when 60 is like “I knew about him, Too!!!!” You can see Him Pause™ look down slightly/you can practically See™ the gears turning like Mad™ in his head, thinking how to somehow turn this situation back around/he’s Flippin’ Out XD
The Tragic™ thing about it all is he didn’t have much of a Shot™… (I mean not Only™ is he just killed off in the Best of scenarios/he Also literally just has this scene/he could have SO MUCH™ development in the long term but Nope™) He had been awake for Literally™ just a few hours/had No time (nor has any type of Guidance) to help sort through™ any of these memories or feelings or thoughts - All he has is his Angry™ existence, a bunch of nothing, and his choice to Lash Out/Make Connor and Hank Suffer ;D;/
((Literally 60 probably just wants someone to love him, too, or at the very least is very, very, *very* confused about what he wants/is possibly Affronted by how much he wants what Connor has(and is Supremely Jealous/feels handed the Super!Short stick about it) and is just Angry™/Lashing out in the only ways he knows/can figure How (Complete Mission (which Connor couldn’t do), make Connor Suffer (Stoopid Connor), make Hank This Human™ Suffer, Prove(Assure Self)™ how Superior I am) XD))
Ahhhhhh I can go on and on -*Flops on Ground with a smile*- MAN there’s so much about 60 - Thank you for posting all these points ajkdsjaslkdj GOODNESS I just LOVE seeing any 60 discourse/He’s such a Good Angry Bean XD (Sorry if you didn’t expect such a super long random™ reply, Feel free to Ignore, Lol XD)
((ALSO LITERALLY, HIM SAYING “I know What. I. Am™” with his Hand on his chest pridefully and all Remember Hank asking Connor what he is on the bridge? Yeah 60 must know that on some level (Whether or not he fully watched the whole memory) and is just like LOL I KNOW WHAT I AM, STOOPID >:D (Then he shoots him again for good measure, cause 60 is Extra AF)))
Hello can I have your artistic rendition of the Canon 60/Connor scene? If you have time of course 💕
Okay okay okay- so I was trying v hard to think about this and part of my dumbass brain was like ‘lmao jealous younger sibling under big brother’s shadow’ but it’s actually slightly more than that hear me out-
Despite being the exact same RK model himself, he calls Connor ’Connor’
- “Step back Connor! And I’ll spare him”
- “Very moving Connor…but I’m not a deviant” Sure Jan…
Even goes as far as to say his name with resentment and disappointment (if you choose to let 60 shoot him)
- “Why Connor. Why did you have to wake up, when all you had to do was obey”
RK800-60 is most likely a deviant, since he unintentionally goes against his own choice of words
- “I’ll only do what is STRICTLY NECESSARY to accomplish my mission”
- shoots Connor, and monologues like an anime villain, even goes as far as to prolong Connor’s deactivation
- esp if you make Connor attempt to stand up or crawl away, he’ll be a smirking s.o.b the entire time and shoot Connor TWO. MORE. TIMES.
- “Look where your dreams of freedom got you Connor” evil lil smirk and head tilt
Hank is most likely the cause of 60’s deviancy
- 60 has access to Connor’s memories- especially if they’re fond and you bring Connor and Hank’s relationship to 'Friend’
- Probably deviates when he tries to intimidate Hank into being his prisoner to use him as leverage against Connor
- Even if 60’s uploaded Connor’s memory, he still hisses out 'This human’ rather than Hank’s name
- “It’s up to you whether or not that includes killing ’this human’”
- 60 is most likely jealous of Connor and Hank’s partnership, seeing as Amanda isn’t exactly the best of mentors
But the Peak Jealous Younger Sibling Moment for me is when you make Connor choose the wrong choices to Hank’s questions; resulting in Hank shooting the wrong RK800
- 60 will mock Hank for his mistake, “Wrong choice, Lieutenant. I’ve accomplished my mission”
- He’s ripped away Connor from Hank, and he doesn’t seem to appear fazed in the slightest if Hank shoots him afterwards. He’s at least taken away the one thing Hank has grown rather fond of; Connor
- “You can kill me if you want, doesn’t matter anymore. Another Connor will take my place”
- THIS ALSO KINDA PROVES THE FACT THAT RK800-60 IS A DEVIANT, IN THE HOSTAGE, Connor can choose to go against Daniel’s order when saving the wounded policeman and saying “You can’t kill me, I’m not alive”
More Jealous Younger Sibling Moments:
- If you choose not to do anything, 60 will unload an entire mag into Connor’s body, even after he’s surely deactivated
- After Hank grieves, “Connor…no…” 60 will turn to Hank and say without remorse, “He really liked you lieutenant. That’s what killed him”
- If you try to use 'Bluff’ when 60’s pointing the pistol at Hank, he’ll know that Connor is lying and respond with “I know you’ve developed some kind of attachment to him”
RK800-60 is literally the fuckin’ Evil Twin/Clone, Jealous Younger Sibling Trope
There’s probably more but I’ve chatted your ear off enough
Astrid hid in the smut shop because she thought it would be the one place Essek wouldn't go. Unfortunately for her he has been inured by years of friendship with Jester and smut shops are now his favoured terrain.
CyberLife’s latest prototypes: The RK Series
I mean, it’s just a thought. . .
essek's disguise getting dispelled in front of bells hells has the same energy of that comic panel where some villian is shapeshifted into the flash and he takes of his mask to discover the secret identity and is like 'i have no idea who this is'
i am laughing at caleb and nott assuring each other that if things go sideways they'll be the first out the door, together, and nott says, "they'll never know who we were!" and caleb confirms, "caleb and nott" which is so hilarious in retrospect because THEY didn't even know who each other were. if they'd left? yeah, the others never would have known who they were. they only would have known caleb and nott, never veth and bren. and neither of them even know they're both using fake names yet
So far my favorite bit of re-watching C2 is Caleb being asked about the Academy and immediately deflecting by summoning a cat. "My backstory? HERE'S A CAT, ASK NO QUESTIONS."
Amelia: “When the Infinity Train appeared to me, it took on a futuristic appearance, promising a world of unimaginable technology and advancement that could potentially bring back Alrick…”
Grace: “The Infinity Train was gilded and beautiful, with a literal red carpet laid out for me, clearly beckoning to me as a star who deserved the world…!”
Tulip: “It took the appearance of a regular old train, but one heading to my destination: Osh Kosh!”
Jesse, who had the Infinity Train appear as Thomas the Tank Engine to him:
So. . . Related to the post I made a second ago, but I was discussing the theory with a sibling of mine,
When we came across something BIG
(And also crash the server/get all the witches perma-banned from life, naturally)
look man. look
essek saying "bren" out loud, claiming a position on caleb's side as the mouthpiece of his regards to astrid, did something to me. i can't tell if it opened a wound or punched me or gave me a hug. all i know is that i am feeling so many emotions right now
more under the cut because i'm about to get rambly:
"bren aldric ermendrud" is a separate character from caleb widogast. he's a young boy learning how to make magic. he's a deeply traumatized and indoctrinated teenager. he's the boy who curled up with astrid and eadwulf in a freezing tower for warmth all night.
essek never met bren. he met caleb and he's never known him as anyone else. if i'm remembering correctly, caleb never even said the name "bren" to him during the campaign, and neither did any of the nein.
essek knows caleb widogast. he knows the man who held up the object of his worst crime and then kissed him in the bowels of a ship and made a floor of infinite stars for them to walk through together. he knows the person who healed over bren's wounds—thinly, but enough. he knows the man that the boy has become.
astrid knows bren. she barely knows who caleb is. she still calls him bren after hearing him referred to as caleb repeatedly. she can't know him as the man he is, she only knows the boy. there's some of bren in caleb, but there is no caleb in bren.
essek saying "bren sends his regards" is him gauging astrid's reaction, on one level—if she freaks out, which she did, she's in opposition to caleb's cause and thus a threat. on another level, it's essek delivering a very different subtextual message from caleb: "the boy who loved you is giving you one final warning."
because essek is a threat to astrid. their last meaningful interaction was slinging spells at each other in the blooming grove. and that's funny in a "current boyfriend vs ex girlfriend exclusively fight each other" kind of way, but it's also deeply tied to caleb's recurring theme of transformation. "bren sends his regards" also means "i have healed enough to love enough for someone else to know this name and use it with my consent. and this someone else is your enemy. what does that make you think i've become?"
it also does a fantastic job of communicating subtle offscreen discussions that have happened over the years since the end of c2. we don't have the details of when or how caleb told essek his birth name, but we know that he did, and we know from all of c2 that the name bren occupies a place of immense emotional weight for caleb. it functions similarly to a deadname in terms of who uses it and for what purpose. trent exclusively calls caleb bren to wound him and place himself in a position of power. astrid calls him bren to remind both him and herself of who they used to be—same with eadwulf, though obviously he's not here.
the first time we hear essek say "bren" is on caleb's behalf and confronting one of the narrative representations of caleb's trauma. it's four words that manage to communicate "i, your enemy on a hundred levels, can speak for both the man i love and the boy who loved you, because i know him in his entirety."
astrid knows bren and essek knows caleb, but only essek can speak for both. because at some point, caleb gave bren to essek. and we know this from four words. four IMPROVISED words.
god. this moment is just so fucking good
Literally a fan of Many Things: RN my main focus is Critical Role Season 2 XD ((Mostly by reading Fanfic and quietly liking almost every post about Essek (HotBoi, my Beloved
