Welcome, Everyone. It’s Good To Have You Here.

another important thing about solidarity within queer communities is that so many of us will identify with different labels (especially when we are young/still figuring out that we aren’t straight & cis to begin with) before figuring out how we identify longterm. E.g. gay people who start out identifying as bi, trans men who initially identify as butch lesbians, asexuals who at first identify as bisexual (because hey, that’s technically being equally attracted to multiple genders), and so on. In fact, most queer people, at one time or another, identified as cishet. So we of all people should be aware that figuring out our identities takes time, and is a winding path.

And this is why solidarity in our communities is so important. And why gatekeeping is so dangerous. Because not only is each part of our community a longterm home, sanctuary, and support system for people of a certain identity, we also provide a path and an unofficial Welcoming Committee to new members of the wider LGBTQA+ community (especially young queer people, for whom a supportive welcoming is so important). And in turn, many of the people who find their way to us will be coming from a different part of the rainbow path. This is also why bigotry is so so damaging when it comes from within our communities, and why we each of us have a responsibility to examine our prejudices and acknowledge that being queer doesn’t automatically give us a pass–we are just as capable of bigotry as anyone on the outside, and in a unique position to do harm from within. Fight transphobia, fight aphobia, fight biphobia, fight racism and ableism and discrimination wherever you see it in our communities. And more than that, celebrate ALL the colors on our flags, and all of the diverse communities they represent. Solidarity makes us so much more powerful, as a community and as individuals. So I’d like to start by saying:

Welcome, everyone. It’s good to have you here.

Kickstarter time!

Currently I make resin skull jewelry which I’ve been selling in my etsy shop Skullery for a few years now. I’d like to expand and start producing a line of silver and bronze jewelry. I’ve spent the past 6 months learning how to make them and producing the examples you see here (and there’s more on the Kickstarter page).

Now I need your help! The equipment I need to cast these pieces isn’t cheap, so I need enough people interested in my work in order for me to buy the tools I need and start production.

I’d like to spread this as far as I can, so this post also doubles as a giveaway! Reblog this post to enter, no need to follow me, and when the project ends on June 1st I’ll pick three winners randomly for a bronze crow claw necklace, a bronze fox claw necklace, and a silver mini sparrow necklace (check out the project page to see them!). The first winner will have first choice, and so on. I have these pieces already made so even if the kickstarter isn’t funded you’ll still get them. And if you back the kickstart and win we’ll make sure you don’t get the same thing twice if you don’t want to.

Thanks for taking a look! If you cant back the project but want to help, spread the word! <3

Daily Affirmation 682.

Having sex does not make you human. Wanting sex does not make you human. Feeling sexual attraction does not make you human. You can have, want, or feel some of these things, or all of them, or none of them, and still be human. Humanity is an intrinsic part of your existence. Nobody gets to take it away from you because of your asexuality, regardless of what that means you do and do not want.

Do you…. Have any trashy romance novel suggestions 👀

Absolutely. I can give you some author recs, if you're down for it? They're really prolific authors and have a range of stuff, so you'll probably find something to your tastes.

Cat Sebastian mostly writes Victorian/Regency romances with queer characters (I particularly rec A Little Light Mischief which is unbearably cute).

Alyssa Cole has a lot of great, diverse romances with POC and queer as the MCs (particular rec for How to Find a Princess, which is about security officer and the princess she's trying to get to claim her title).

Rebekah Weatherspoon is really funny and writes really great characters, and her fairytale retelling series (esp. If the Boot Fits) is one of my favorites.

Yvette Hines is one of the funniest writers I've read, and she has a bear shifter romance series that is so full of bear puns it's amazing.

Sam Burns is also really fun, and mostly writes queer paranormal romances that are really fun and full of relatable characters (I'd rec the Fantastic Fluke series because who doesn't love ghost romance and mysterious plots?)

Alexis Hall is maybe my favorite on this list? They write really, really entertaining "traditional" sorts of Victorian romances (among others) but with queer protagonists. My personal go-to when I'm feeling down is A Lady for a Duke, with a trans woman MC and a childhood friend romance. It's lovely.

I like the “plays for the other team” entendre because it implies that asexual people play for no team. We merely watch from the stands, confused by the world of sports, just like I do in real life.
