Hello! My name is Laura, and I’m studying asexual identity and online community for my bachelor’s essay. Tumblr played a huge role in developing my asexual identity, so I am curious about others’ experiences. I am looking for participants who are 18 years or older and identify anywhere on the ace spectrum to interview about the role online community has or has not played in asexual identity development and expression.
I am a student at the College of Charleston undertaking a research study for my bachelor’s essay on asexual identity and online community. The purpose of the study is to promote a more nuanced understanding of asexual identity by exploring the significance of online community in the lives of asexual individuals.
This study will combine qualitative research and journalism, resulting in a final paper that will be accessible to readers outside of academia. I hope that this approach will help raise awareness and increase understanding of asexuality.
I will conduct one-on-one interviews with participants, which will last at least 30 minutes and cover topics related to asexual identity and social network activity.

This research study has been approved by College of Charleston Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Research Participants. Approval code: GLFL-10-11-2016

i wonder if theres a grammatical rule out there that explains why “i’m a big sexy bug” sounds better than “i’m a sexy big bug”, yet “im a sexy little bug” sounds better than “i’m a little sexy bug”
[Image ID: A half bound copy of Leave the Children Behind by montparnasse. The book is bound in dark blue bookcloth and paper patterned with silver birch trees drawn in a watercolour style, the background a lighter navy colour scattered with small bronze stars.
The second photo shows the silver endpapers, and the third and fourth photos particular details of the book: the first page, which is headed by a vintage sketch of phases of the moon and a drop cap in the shape of a crescent moon, and a close up of one of the scene breaks further on in the book, which is divided up a tiny first quarter moon. End ID.]
Sometimes projects don’t work out the way you want them to! And that’s fine, totally okay. I didn’t shed a tear when the first set of endpapers ripped in the middle of gluing, but it was a close run thing. No title page photo for that reason cause gluing it twice made the page all wrinkly, god bless.
This fic has been living on my computer as a pdf for many years now, so despite some setbacks with the casing, I’m glad to be able to hold it in my hands. It’s a very beautiful story - I always think of r/s in terms of silver and blue and wanted that to carry over into the typesetting with all the stars and moons. The moon dividers actually go through two whole cycles over the course of the story, changing incrementally with every scene break, which is probably my favourite thing about this round of typesetting.

What I Mean When I Say I’m Sex-Positive
I think freedom of sexuality is something that we all need and very few of us have
I think sexual pleasure is a legitimate thing to want and ethically pursue
I do not judge people for the (consensual) sex that they have or want
I will not tolerate slut-shaming
I will not tolerate hatred of people based on gender or orientation (including asexual)
I will not tolerate hatred of sex workers
I believe comprehensive, honest, non-judgmental sex education is necessary for public health and happiness
I think understanding of sexual consent—what it is, why it matters—is sorely lacking in society and crucially important
I reject preconceptions of what kind of sexuality a person should have, whether these preconceptions are based on gender, age, culture, disability, survivor status, or basically anything else
I value people’s individual freedom of choice in determining their sex lives (including the choices not to have sex)
What I Don’t Mean
Everyone should have sex
Everyone should have kinky, non-monogamous, exhibitionistic, pansexual sex
Accepting someone’s sexuality means you have to participate in it, watch them engage in it, or hear about it in detail
Nothing related to sex is ever hurtful for anyone
Feminism should be all about sex
Sex fixes everything
