gerry (trad goth) meets jon immediately during a kidnapping when hes bloody and stressed and holding an ancient skin bound tome having just effortlessly summoned a dead man for moral advice on the apocalypse and is currently metamorphosing into an avatar of a cosmic horror: ive never been so thoroughly outclassed. i have feelings for this man (this feeling was friendship, but neither had experienced it before)

oliver (industrial goth) rolls up to the hospital to meet his personal paralysis demon who will cure him of Evil Death Dreams by virtue of looping his personal death every night and finds an empty room bc jons aura destroys technology and also he has no heartbeat and needs to be Sleeping Beautied with the kiss of death: im so sorry the nurses wiped off your eyeliner king, this isnt what u deserved

verdict: personally directs his post-apocalypse report to jon instead of his god

georgie (mall goth) just freshly Touched By Death when she meets jon smoking alone in an alley outside the venue when he offers her company before a metal concert shes only going to bc she doesnt fear the moshpit anymore and wants to experience some emotions but he likes bc it drowns out his thoughts and then she immediately finds out hes not only at her university but also in her ghost-based major: ah, hell guess i am bi after all. do you want to adopt a cat together

verdict: it was cool before it got weird? jon turned out to be too goth for georgie to handle vampire bf style

The ghost of a gay cat haunted/followed you?

There’s this cat that comes up to my back porch all the time to see my cat, and I started joking around with my family that the cat had a gf that kept coming to visit. Well last night (still can’t believe this happened) I was outside and saw her standing by my screen door. Now this door can be opened by just something being pressed against it, awful security I know, but that’s not the point. I, being obsessed with cats, spend the next forty minutes creeping slowly closer (she’s shy and runs off easily). It was the one of the weirdest things I ever saw, I always joked about her being my cats gf but she genuinely reminded me of someone waiting for their date to show up. She didn’t go inside and just sat out on the porch looking inside at first with great posture and fixing herself every five minutes, but then slowly starting to get visibly upset the more time went on. She was out there for forty minutes. And then she stretched and realized she could go inside, stuck her head in real quick to look side to side, and then just went back to her spot to sit 😂 ten minutes later she gets up and goes into the house finally, after nearly an hour of my cat watching her. I’m of course over joyed to have another cat in the house, but I realized that this might create a series of problems, so I went in and called my sister over telling her about the mysterious cat gf. We checked the entire house but couldn’t find her, and my house is really small with not many places to hide even for extremely moldable cats. There were no entrances to escape from, and my sister started saying I made it up, except I took a little video of it to show my great friend @francisballoonpants my only option to believe is that this cat was at least partially a ghost.

So that’s the story of the ghost lesbian cat, tonight has been wild

I haven’t even read Wayward Son yet, but I just wanted to rec some things after reading some of the reactions on here. I feel like there are so many great authors out there, whose books don’t get talked about at all or at least not enough and this is in no way a complete list, there are so many more!

Also, an amazing resource for finding more diverse books is lgbtqreads.com, anything in the romance category has a happy end!

Hearstopper by Alice Oseman (so much great rep and really cute webcomic, plus all of her books are amazing, very diverse and even though they deal with some heavier topics they are always hopeful)

Alex in Wonderland and Noah Can’t Even by Simon James Green (so adorable, especially Alex in Wonderland is the perfect feel-good summer read)

Social Intercourse by Greg Howard (this book made me smile so much)

Whatever. and How (not) ask a boy to prom by S.J. Goslee (Really cute, feel-good romance books)

Running With Lions and How to be Remy Cameron by Julian Winters (Very heartwarming and positive)

Openly Straight, Honestly Ben and The Music of What Happens by Bill Konigsberg (his books deal with very interesting and sometimes heavy topics, but they have happy endings)

One Man Guy by Michael Barakva (so sweet, though the sequel sounds a bit :/ so I haven’t read it yet)

How to Repair a Mechanical Heart and A&B by J.C. Lillis (some heavy moments but happy endings)

Simon Vs. the Homosapiens Agenda and Leah On The Off-Beat by Becky Albertelli (popular for a reason)

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (a must-read, beautiful writing)

Older Characters

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston (definitely a new fave, so romantic and the alternate universe I want to live in, has nsfw scenes)

Know Not Why by Hannah Johnson (such a comfort read, it’s so adorable and I love all of the characters)

Check Please by Ngozi Ukazu (such a heart-warming webcomic)
