Ok so… The wildest thing happened to me today… I don’t know how it happened… or why… but it did…
If you are a fan of the Game PVZ heroes like I am… and have played it long enough… you are likely aware of the INFAMOUS level 75… I have been throwing myself at this level over and over and over again for weeks…
I had recently crafted some “sour grapes” cards at the recommendation of a Reddit post, but I wasn’t expecting any miracles… I was down to 6 HP and I knew in a single instant that it would all be over once my opponent placed down a 6dmg attack helicopter… but suddenly and without warning… she skipped her turn! AI aren’t supposed to skip turns!!! I place down a moss to do more damage next, and she skips her turn AGAIN! Her block meter proceeds to fill up but the game acts like nothing happened!!! Before I knew it… I won???????
I’m at a loss for words… but I am SO glad i don’t have to play this level anymore!
No big post today, but I beat Mario 64 and got all 120 stars! ⭐️
Some comments:
- The 100 coin stars were the WORST part of this whole thing… especially in Tick Tock Clock…
- Shifting Sand Land was the stage that annoyed me the most… it felt very cramped because of the quicksand…
- The Red Coin stage near Tick Tock Clock with the Wing Cap was tough but oddly fun, I had to do it a couple times though cause I kept missing the clouds and running out of Cap time in the air…
- Bowser is REALLY hard to aim when swinging, I usually only picked him up close to the explosives for the fight but that’s not really an option for the final battle… also is it just me or is his model in this game kinda… cute??? Like a Toy Dino
- That ending caught me for a LOOP when Peach started talking, “full spoken sentences??? In my Mario game!” In all seriousness why have they never brought this back? A Mario game with full spoken dialogue would be great! Well… you don’t have to voice EVERYONE… but some characters would be nice…
Overall 9/10
Fun game but when it’s tough it is TOUGH, also turning around is always risky…
Back In Highschool
I had a class in the magical world of
GAME DEVELOPMENT
And our end of year project was a fully complete game. And at the time I was really into games like Donkey Kong, Mario bros, and Annalynn.
Unfortunately,
Due to my lack of know-how the game was never “complete” per say. Rather I got far enough with some stand in characters to make the passing grade. Regardless, here is some of the character art I made while planning… who knows, maybe I’ll resurrect the idea in the future…

Something I try to keep in mind when making art that looks vintage is keeping a limited color pallette. Digital art gives you a very wide, Crisp scope of colors, whereas traditional art-- especially older traditional art-- had a very limited and sometimes dulled use of color.
This is a modern riso ink swatch, but still you find a similar and limited selection of colors to mix with. (Mixing digitally as to emulate the layering of ink riso would be coloring on Multiply, and layering on top of eachother 👉)
If you find some old prints, take a closer look and see if you can tell what colors they used and which ones they layered... a lot of the time you'll find yellow as a base!
Misprints can really reveal what colors were used and where, I love misprints...
Something else I keep in the back of my mind is: how the human eye perceives color on paper vs. a screen. Ink and paint soaks into paper, it bleeds, stains, fades over time, smears, ect... the history of a piece can show in physical wear. What kind of history do you want to emulate? Misprinted? Stained? Kept as clean as possible, but unable to escape the bluing damages of the sun? It's one of my favorite things about making vintage art. Making it imperfect!
You can see the bleed, the wobble of the lines on the rug, the fading, the dirt... beautiful!!
Thinking in terms of traditional-method art while drawing digital can help open avenues to achieving that genuine, vintage look!

I think this was the last time I felt like I was “good” at this game. But then you know how it is…
You hit a sour streak and try online matches, earning card packs and doing missions but still you keep losing over and over and it’s probably because you don’t have enough cards to make legitimate strategy decks but you’re not gonna shell out $20 bucks for a mobile game. So you just throw yourself at it over and over again. Burning yourself into it because it would be a waste to quit so far in…
They should make this a physical board game, it’s good.
