Caitlyn ignored the stares and gasps of the people on the streets of Piltover as she sprinted past them. She knew she must look a wreck. Bruised and scraped from the battle at Stillwater and now drenched in blood while carrying a rifle was not how any of them had ever seen the Princess of Piltover before, but Caitlyn didn’t care. The panic that clawed at her throat helped her ignore the exhausted muscles in her legs and arms and the slightly foggy sensation in her brain from the effects of the drug and no sleep. Still, she couldn’t fail. Wouldn’t. She could still hear Maddie’s voice, after all this time since Bloodcliff, pushing her to be better—to do better. “Combat is won when you find the will to overcome your own weakness. You have to want it—need it—more than your enemies. Tell me, Kiramman, do you want to win? Need to win?” There was never a time when Caitlyn needed something more. The lives of every person she's ever cared about were on the line, and she could not fail.

However,” she said, ignoring Vi’s choked gasp, “given her age and the fact that she made me aware of Jayce’s illegal research, I have decided to not press charges.” Vander snorted, which obviously threw the councilor off as she raised her brow in surprise at the reaction. “You can’t let word get out that your boy was doing magic with your money and name, you mean, and are hoping for our silence in exchange for her not being carted off to prison,” he stated. Cassandra blinked at his words and Vi could tell she was taken aback at how easily Vander could read in between the lines. She quickly recovered and sat up even straighter, if it were possible. “Yes,” she simply responded. “I would prefer, if possible, to maintain a level of discretion regarding this incident.”

CaitVi Writing Prompt

Okay, so I've never done this before, and I'm not promising anything, but here goes. I will take a CaitVi writing prompt for a one-shot fic to do as a palate cleanser once "Low Lays the Devil in Me" is done. I've always wanted to try a writing prompt and now is as good a time as any (if anyone manages to inspire me with a prompt, that is). Please leave them either in the replies of this post or as an anonymous ask if you'd like.

Rules:

Must be a non-canonical setting, preferably modern day, as I have spent a lot, a lot of time in Piltover/Zaun/Runeterra and will do so again in the Pirate AU that's next and in "Tethered."

Not completely ruling out smut, but it can't be the sole focus. I'm a character-driven writer first and foremost, and want to keep it that way, please.

Please keep the prompt to three sentences, max 350 words.

Must be one-shot worthy, and I'll probably not make it more than 15,000 words, so nothing that would require a complex, multichapter storyline.

I am doing this as a writing exercise, not an obligation to the people who suggest any prompts. Fanfic writing is for fun, and I want a little short break between "Devil" and the Pirate AU, which is my next long-form fic.

I will NOT do any requests for anti-ship/anti-character fics.

The way I am enjoying writing this next chapter in "Low Lays the Devil in Me" about the Chembarons is almost worrisome. This is almost as much fun to write as Vi's extraction chapter.

Hi Caitlyn Kirammans.I've read chapter 14 of "Low Lays the Devil in Me," and there's a threatening line Smeech gives Caitlyn about damaging one of her eyes before she takes her to meet the Chembarons, which really caught my attention.

Later in the story, will Caitlyn get her eyepatch? How did it happen at the end of "Arcane?"

I won’t say if she gets the eyepatch cuz I honestly don’t know yet. Given that Jinx and Caitlyn are parallel characters in the show, this scene fits Caitlyn well, even if it’s directly inspired by the one with Smeech and Jinx in season 2. So I haven’t decided yet if Caitlyn still loses her eye.

I think it just really hit me how niche Low Lays the Devil and Heart Made of Glass are since I just I replied to a comment saying my CaitVi fic is a steam punk Romeo & Juliet inspired spy story 🤣😅

Writing is such a weird hobby. You have these characters in your head that talk to each other and you write down what they say while waiting in the drive thru at McDonald’s because if you don’t you’ll go crazy.

A scene from a reverse au in a modern setting. A zaunite Caitlyn and a piltovan Vi's first meeting (whether they swapped in a way that makes Vi a Kiramman + Cait Vander's kid or if The kirammans are zaunite and Vi and Co are piltovan is up to you). Possibly in a bar where Caitlyn is the bartender

I started rereading today and saw the aside of Cassandra being jealous of the chemtech battle bots. I’m curious, do you have any plans of that get her, powder, and Jayce in the same room together? I foresee the ultimate chembot if so.

I don’t have any plans for it but I’m not ruling it out completely. If I don’t do it in this one, there’s a chance I will in the sequel. It would be pretty epic if they built a bot together though. They’d destroy everyone 🤣 so glad you’re rereading it 🥹
