I think it just really hit me how niche Low Lays the Devil and Heart Made of Glass are since I just I replied to a comment saying my CaitVi fic is a steam punk Romeo & Juliet inspired spy story đ¤Łđ
âThe last major overhaul was not long after The Sinking. They needed to expand the prison since they threw so many Zaunites in it.â Caitlyn felt rage flare up in her and her lip curl in disgust at the idea of the desperate Zaunites clawing up from the mass grave of the fissures only to be thrown in prison for just trying to survive. âIâve dreamed of dismantling Stillwater brick by brick as my first act as councilor,â she practically growled, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the edge of the table. Cassandra chuckled darkly. âWhen I lie awake at night thinking about what those Wardens are doing to Violet, I entertain the same fantasy.â Caitlyn met her motherâs gaze over the blueprints and suddenly felt a strong sense of kinship with her over how much they both cared for Vi.

The countdown to rescue Vi has started and Caitlyn prays she can successfully extract her from Stillwater.
Vi stared at the woman. For a long, long minute. To the councilorâs credit, she did not squirm or repeat herself. The teenager let out an uncomfortably chuckle, unsure how else to react. Vi would have been less surprised if the councilor had asked her to pose naked as an art installation at the Gala. âIâm sorry,â Vi said very carefully. âYou just asked me, a sump-raker who has onlyââ âViolet, I really must say, I truly dislike how often you refer to yourself in such derogatory terms,â the councilor interrupted in an unhappy tone. Vi rolled her eyes. âYou want me, an orphan Zaunite born in the deepest depths of the fissures and who tried to rob you, to be Caitlyn Kirammanâsâyour daughterâsâdate to one of the most extravagant Piltover high society celebrations of the year?â Vi asked, hoping the woman would hear how ludicrous that sounded. âYes,â Councilor Kiramman said with no hesitation.
Councilor Kiramman has a potentially awkward request to make of Vi. Vi finds herself at the Kiramman Manor, again, to speak with Caitlyn about her mother's awkward request.
When the room was empty, Corina went into a cupboard and took out a bottle of wine with two chalices.
âA toast,â she said, handing a glass to Caitlyn. âTo the start of a beautiful partnership.â
Caitlyn gave her a smirk and nodded her head before clinking their glasses together. âTo the downfall of Cassandra Kiramman.â
A cold smile curled up Corinaâs face and Caitlyn only just barely held back her fingers from twitching towards her weapon.

Caitlyn completes her first mission with the Chembarons and meets with members of the alliance to discuss next steps.
I honestly got so caught up in just enjoying writing that I didn't realize I was so close being done with the next chapter đ I just have to edit and will hopefully have the next part of Low Lays the Devil in Me up soon!
I am really excited for the next chapter of "Tethered." This is going to be one that will really hint at how different this story is going to be from the original rewrite. Hope you all are going to like the changes!
Below the "Keep Reading" line, I've uploaded a screenshot of the list of lore/world building that I've changed or expanded on from the show. I've wanted to do this for a while, but now that the fic is almost done, I don't think I'll have to add anything to it. For anyone caught up, none of this is spoiler-y if you do read it. I explain the purpose of the list in the screenshot. This is now placed in the Chapter One notes with the link to the map. If you haven't read/aren't caught up, the spoilers are not really that bad, but avoid if you like going in completely blind. I just know that some people might appreciate knowing this before reading to help understand it better.
Okay, so I decided to go with it. It'll make for a better story. Essentially, if anyone wants a sneak peak, I changed it so that Vander and Cassandra have never met. If you remember, he escorted her with Grayson when Vi met her for the first time and she says something about talking with Vander about Vi's community service. And then Cassandra mentions meeting him briefly it in the most recent chapter, but I've never actually written a scene with them.
Hmmm. I'm kind of thinking of doing something I haven't done yet and going back to change up something super, super minor about Heart Made of Glass in the very beginning. It wouldn't effect the plot that's already happened at all (or if it does it would be so minor I think some people might not even notice), but it would help amp up the drama ever so slightly for future plans.
Not sure how I feel about changing something I've already posted beyond grammar/spelling errors. If any one who reads "Heart Made of Glass, My Mind of Stone" would care, let me know. Still pretty on the fence about it.
This is what happens when you start a story and post before knowing where it'll go. So far I've been able to avoid this pitfall, but I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been an issue yet given how quickly and casually I've been throwing the plot together. Besides, I've liked the creative challenge of molding the plot to what I've already written in my "canon" of the fic.
âTell me, Officer Kiramman, do you find fulfillment in your occupation?â âFulfillment, maâam?â Caitlyn asked as Corina weaved through rows of colorful plants. âYes, personally, I mean. Do you wake up every day with a sense of purpose and go to sleep every night with the knowledge that you are making your mark on this world?â Caitlyn thought about her answer carefully and decided to play it safe. âWould you even believe me if I told you that I do?â she replied with a sardonic smirk. Corina stopped and pulled out a few weeds from a beautiful batch of yellow bulb plants that Caitlyn recognized as tulips. When she was finished, she looked at Caitlyn. Her dark eyes, Caitlyn realized, were speckled with beautiful gold flakes that anyone could get lost in, should she choose to weaponize them. âIf you were an ordinary citizen, perhaps I would believe you,â she finally answered. âBut to go from the pinnacle of Piltover political power to the banality of chasing down petty criminals in the Undercity? Then no, I donât believe that someone like you would find that fulfilling.â

Caitlyn makes small steps towards proving herself to Corinaâs operation.
My college professors would be so proud of me for using the research skills they taught me to try to figure out what the metal ring on the outside of a ductwork is for my fanfic 𤣠itâs called beading, in case anyone wanted to know.
not me being a romantic but just wanted to ask anyway â will there ever be a flashforward to a caitvi proposal and/or wedding in any of ur fics 𼚠i just rly love the parts in Low Lays the Devil In Me where Cait just yeaaarns for a future with Vi & to grow old with her and i was just wondering if thats smth youâd ever write about ? (no pressure to answer this in case u didnt wanna spoil any future plans btw â¤ď¸)
I don't want to say specifics in case of spoilers. I will say that I have a plan for something like what you're asking, but I won't say for which fic.
Glad you're enjoying my writing! Thank you!! <3 <3
