"define 'hurt'" / "thank you for not hitting me this time" / [grins while using the other as bait without his prior knowledge] / "I knew you couldn't help yourself, you never could" relationship. they're affectionate and they care but fundamentally this dynamic is a game of "for your own good" betrayal chicken. they love each other enough that they could never bear even thinking about separating and this is both tremendously romantic and really, really bad.
