“Set My *ss On Fire!”  Productivity And Anti-Procrastination Spell (with Ginger)
“Set My *ss On Fire!”  Productivity And Anti-Procrastination Spell (with Ginger)

“Set my *ss on Fire!”  Productivity and Anti-Procrastination Spell (with Ginger)

Three orange candles

Yellow string

Fresh Ginger

I’m the worst procrastinator under the sun, so a productivity spell for me has to be powerful - hence the ginger :) lemon oil just won’t do the trick…

1) Use orange candles for energy and determination. String them together with a yellow string, envisioning your success and concentration. Additionally I like to write what I want on a piece of paper and tie it to the candles.

2) Make three knots, saying the words: My Wish, My Power, My Future.

3) Cut open your fresh ginger and run it over the top of the candles, thus rubbing in its essence. I say “Set my ass on fire!” to every candle (have I mentioned that I need my ass kicked… if you’re only a mild procrastinator, you might find a nicer phrase…).

4) Light the candles. Let the candles burn while you do your work.

5) Cut a few pieces off the ginger and pour boiling water over it to make ginger tea (if you don’t have any allergies). It’s refreshing and energizing. You can stir in honey, which represents industry and success, if you want to sweeten the tea (of course, stir clockwise).

6) Get off your ass and do it! :)

im a baby witch, and after performing my first spell ever today i was immediately exhausted and slept for 4 hours, despite getting at least 8 hours of sleep last night...what could the reasoning for this be?

(I started answering this but had to draft it because I ran out of spoons; someone else answered this really well but I cant remember who, and I’m not wasting a list I put this much energy into already, so fuck it all.)

This probably happened because you used up too much energy in the spell, leaving very little in your body to get you through the rest of your day.

This is a common occurrence for those new to magic and energy work - being unaware of your own limits, you put out too much and leave very little for yourself. It happens, I’ve heard about it a lot, but is definitely not very good for you if it keeps happening. Like, it is common, but definitely not meant to happen, and not very good for you energetically and physically. Over time you will learn your limits better, by experimenting and practicing (the more energy work you do, the easier it gets, trust me), and your capacity for manipulating, holding, and sending out energy will expand.

In the meantime, take it easy on spellwork for a few days. Make sure to eat regularly, drink plenty of water, and get as much rest as you need. Do what you can to avoid that feeling too many times in a row - you could burn yourself out.

I also recommend practicing grounding, and learning how to draw energy from other sources through yourself and into spells, or just directly into the spells instead, to prevent energy drainage again.

#BackToSchoolWitchcraft - Day 9

#BackToSchoolWitchcraft - Day 9

Make a small magical sachet to keep in your backpack

This is basically a protection sachet against negativity, that might infect your school. All of the following ingredients are substitutable.

What you’ll need:

Rosemary - protection against negativity

Pine needles - protection against negativity

Cloves - banishing negative energies

Basil - protection against negativity

Bay leaves - dispelling negative energies

Red pepper - to burn away negativity

Clear quartz - protection

Aloe - protection against negativity

Protection sigil

Some of your hair

How to do:

1) Optional. Make a protection sigil. Mine states “Protection from negativity”.

2) Place all your ingredients into the sachet, while asking them to protect from/burn/banish negativity, depending on what ingredient you use.

3) Close your sachet firmly, and visualise your intent being sealed within it.

Note: If you want to, you can charge your sachet under the full moon that’s coming up later this week! It’s a great source of extra energy, and could give your sachet a powerful boost.

Bedridden witch: Divination edition

Bedridden Witch: Divination Edition

Ideas for practicing divination while bedridden: Varying in energy + mobility required - please don’t push yourself, hopefully there’s options for everyone! Quick note: I’ve only included forms of divination I personally do.

Tarot:

Sleep with the deck under your pillow.

Do a two-card (or more!) spread - you don’t have to lay it out if you can’t sit up, you can hold them in your hand or place on your lap.

Pick one card that represents what you want from the next day and slip it under your pillow or mattress for the night.

Play around with a tarot app (I like the products from Labyrinthos but there’s loads out there.)

Memorize the meanings of the cards.

Make or buy a mini deck for easier use.

Do the easy “find this card and whatever is above or below it =X” spreads.

Scrying:

Use a black mirror or picture frame with black cloth/paper behind it.

Get a mini scrying bowl and fill with water, cradle it in your hands.

Pendulum:

Wear it around your neck.

Shorten the string so you don’t have to sit up.

Prop your hand on a pillow if you need the strength/steadiness.

Use off of the side of your bed if it’s too long (this can be a bit awkward)

Keep it under your pillow.

Use a mini pendulum or a necklace as a pendulum.

Make a simple board or don’t use one at all, just condition your pendulum with basic movements.

*You CAN use a pendulum even with shaky hands, it just takes a bit of bonding and conditioning.*

Tasseomancy:

Get a mug with two handles.

Keep in a sealable container until you’re ready.

Put a towel over yourself in case you spill.

Use a Tupperware container. No shame.

Other ideas + Posts

Automatic writing

Oneiromancy - Interpretation of dreams in order to predict future.

Stitchomancy - Get a book. Ask question, then open book to random page and read what pops out to you.

This awesome post

Note: I didn’t include runes because I don’t use them! I’d love to see an addition with runes.

6 Alternative Altar Inspirations for Witches that are Bored of Altar Tables

No matter what path you follow as in witchcraft are, chances are you have some sort of sacred space. If you are a witch whose practice is part of your religious beliefs, this might be a place to communicate with your deities. If you work with spirits, this could be a place where honor your ancestors. Non-religious witches like myself often use altars as a space where they can connect with their magical and spiritual sides. Even though we all share this desire to have a place all our own dedicated to our craft.

That doesn’t mean we all need the same type of space. Whether you are a new witch who can’t show off your craft publicly (we’ve all been there) or just a witch who isn’t really into the more standard altar table setup, there are plenty of options for customizing and creating an altar space that meets your needs.

Window Altars

image

One easy way to create an altar is to take up a windowsill. Depending on the arrangement of the room you’re using, your personal preference, and the space available, the size of this type of altar varies.

This generally small altar space can be good for witches in the broom closet and green witches who like to keep their altars populated with plant friends. Because it is literally a window to the outside, these altars are also great places for charging things like crystals, spells, and water under the light of the moon.

Benefits:

Good for altars that are heavily planted (hello, sunlight!)

Generally discreet

Keeps your altar space contained (for all us witches that do not know when to quit)

Garden Altars

image

While pretty much any altar can include plants, there is something else to say for an altar that is almost completely plants. If you have some space indoors, why not design a witch’s garden that doubles as an altar space?

A small tray planted with succulents with offering bowls and candle dishes set into the soil and crystals scattered around can be a unique, and even moveable altar! You could also use potted plants so that you can change the arrangement or plants out whenever you need a refresh.

Benefits:

Deeply connected to nature and the earth

Pluck herbs for spells right off your altar

Generally pretty moveable

Bath Altars

image

If you love bath magic as much as I do, you’re a water witch, or your bathroom is one of your most sacred places (self-care anyone?), a bath altar could be the perfect thing to give your craft a physical home.

We’ve all seen those pictures of wooden tray tables for baths surrounded by eucalyptus and candles. Add a statue of your deity (or a symbol of something important to your craft), some crystals (check how your crystals are affected by water and humidity first!), and some jars of your favorite things to mix into bath spells, and your bath altar is set.

Benefits:

The perfect place to combine witchcraft and self-care

Perfect for witches that incoroporate the water element in their craft a lot

Magic really does belong in every room in the house

Travel Altars

image

If you tend to practice on a whim rather than waiting to be in a specific place or if you need to be able to stash your altar quickly, a travel altar is perfect. These altars can be fit into matchboxes, Altoids tins, jewelry boxes, and even hollowed out books! If you can carry it with you and find supplies small enough to fit, anything goes. (I’ve even seen locket altars!)

Some witches will create multiple travel altars for different purposes or focuses, but don’t feel like you need to collect them if that’s not your thing.

Benefits:

Small and discreet, it’s hard to make a mess with these

Very customizable (and easy to have multiples of!)

Perfect for witches in the broom closet

Virtual Altars

image

Tech witches, I haven’t forgotten you. If you’ve been following me for a bit, then you might know that I threw out the idea a while ago about a altar lockscreen/wallpaper for your phone/tablet/etc. Now that I’ve talked to some tech witches, I know this is actually a pretty sound idea!

Whether you commision an artist or design one yourself, a lock screen wallpaper for an electronic device (you could even go as big as a laptop with a touch screen!) could make the perfect altar for a tech witch. Even if you decide not to use it as a wallpaper, designing an image that serves as an altar and opening it in GIMP or Photoshop where you can create additional layers for placing other virtual elements could be useful.

Benefits:

Travel friendly

Can be synced across devices, so your altar is always with you

Easy to change and “redecorate” throughout the year

Paper Altars

image

(This incredible paper altar was created by Stella Witchcraft! Please click here to check out their full post and their blog!)

Similar to a virtual altar, a paper altar is a portable, customizable altar. Many witches choose to include paper altar setups in their grimoires, but there’s nothing stopping you from making larger paper altars with poster paper that can be rolled up and stored away.

If paper altars are attractive to you, don’t be deterred if you aren’t an artist! Minimalism in paper altars is perfectly fine. You can always outline your altar with symbols or even words alone. If you’re happy with it, it is perfect. You don’t have to meet any requirements for aesthetic or any other witch’s expectations.

There you have it! Of course, there are so many more types of altars, and even table altars can be created to fit your own personal needs. If you’re attracted to more than one of these, why not try combining the elements that call to you to make something entirely your own? The possibilities are endless.

Simple Curse To Spot Who Means You Harm

Simple Curse to Spot Who Means You Harm

Inspired by and incorporates an old Irish curse

“May those who love us, love us, And those who don’t, May [God] turn their hearts And if not their hearts, may [he] turn their ankles so we’ll know them by their limping”

Inventory: - salt - lemon juice - black pepper - red pepper - 2 paper - red marker - black string - tinted, dark bottle - sigil form of the curse

Simple Curse To Spot Who Means You Harm

To Do:

Draw curse sigil on paper with red marker. Recite curse throughout spell, inserting the name of your own god if wanted. Fold sigil up tight as it will go, then unfold once into a bowl/crevice shape. Place paper into a bowl of salt. Sprinkle black and red pepper into paper. Burn sigil paper down to ash, still reciting curse. Once paper is burned, pour salt and every single piece of the paper into bottle. Prepare second piece of paper by lightly soaking in lemon juice until slightly moldable. Form paper into a cap for the bottle and tie down paper with string. Place in a hidden, dark place in a room that people pass through often. Turn in a counterclockwise circle once a week.

Cleanse your work area thoroughly after you’ve hidden the bottle.

spell jar for attracting positive things into your life

slightly adapted from samra haksever, author of mama moon’s book of magic, but is mostly the same. includes quotes from her book in the steps for how to create the jar

Spell Jar For Attracting Positive Things Into Your Life

not my gif

this spell jar is best crafted on a Sunday, when you can channel the energy of the day, and look back on your achievements of the past week.

✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿

you will need,

7 small strips of paper

a pen

a mason jar, or a jar of similar size

2-3 cinnamon sticks

a pinch of patchouli, but i used rosemary

a magnet or lodestone crystal

orange or white wax (optional)

the cinnamon brings your happiness blessings, and the magnet and patchouli draw many more of these good things to you.

✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿

“on each piece of paper, write down something that has made you happy over the past week; this is the time to celebrate anything and everything, from seeing a cute dog in the park and treating yourself to a cup of coffee on your commute, to taking an afternoon nap.

“fold the papers up, put them in the jar with the cinnamon sticks, patchouli/rosemary and magnet, then place the jar on a windowsill that gets plenty of sunlight.”

“optional, seal with orange or white wax. if you decide not to seal the jar, add to it as and when, or even try to make it a Sunday ritual.”
