I get asked a lot for tips with coloring black people, so i put together a little tutorial! (and bumps my kofi if you found this helpful)

I'm sorry to ask- But You're Really Good At Drawing Art- do you have any tips on drawing big people? i really want to figure it out to properly draw some ocs-
thank you very much, and i’d love to share!
the way i see it, the best way to go about it is to imagine the person you’re drawing being divided into blocks like those little wooden posing figures
i don’t usually plan out a whole character this way, though a good amount of people probably do, but it’s the easiest way to remember where everything goes, anatomy-wise
all you have to do to get varied body types is change the sizes of the blocks, this goes for any body type your going for not just fat ones
And, of course it’s good to remember where fat or muscle collects on a body like the chest, stomach, biceps, thighs, neck and cheeks (this isn’t any kind of Strict Guideline tho, it’s art do whatever you want)
the most important thing is Use Reference, really look at bodies to figure out how they work, if this doesn’t help as much as it should, making your own observations will most likely help you figure out your Own way of doing it
i WAS gonna link some tutorials that helped me when i was still figuring this stuff out but i can’t find Either of them to save my Life so, hope this helps some
Any advice on necks? they are my nemesis ;;
Im not gonna go into detail w the muscles but if you wanna learn the specifics here are some good diagrams! 1,2 Hope that helps a little! Look up rl refs too!
Some drawing tips previously posted on twitter. More drawing tips on my patreon. Hope some of these can be helpful.
ahh im sorry if youve gotten this before but could you do a tutorial on how the head connects to the neck/neck connects to the shoulders?? i saw a small tutorial on shoulders but it was more about how to draw than than how to connect them to the head and the rest of the body u_u
a lot of people asked about necks but i don’t much to say so i covered a little of the muscles too HERE”S A MORE DETAILED muscle diagram if you’re interested! don’t overwork the neck muscles bc in a lot of people they actually don’t rly show up at all ALSO I tend to draw longer necks out of habit ,some people have shorter necks
REAL LIFE REFS ARE THE BEST GO STARE AT SOME NECKS
Could you do a tutorial on how to draw body hair? like chest hair, arm hair, facial hair? I can never make it look right : (
here’s a short little one:
I’m sure there’s better ways out there, but this is how I do it!
Hi!! I absolutely love your colors and wanted to ask how you color skin tone :0!! I love how you shade it sm and would love to know how you do it!!! ❤️
HIII i thought i'd make this little tutorial to illustrate my thought process c:
we're starting off with grayscale because i place form sculpting and values above colors...
that's basically it! though, when dealing with different skin tones (both realistic and fantasy-based) i usually make the first layer of shadows a little more colourful to make the transition a bit more visually interesting/appealing
here's some more examples:
hope this was clear! i mentioned some tips in a post here too :]
Could we possibly see an eye and hair tutorial? I'm struggling with liking my style because it's not up to my(too high) standards and would very much so enjoy some of your advice :>
not much of a tut but here’s my usual process
and some doodles, done in like 15 sec per pair
I haaate painting hair so i try not to take too much time on it
Some people requested a nose tutorial some time ago, and I finally got around to show you how I draw noses. There are a million ways on how to draw them, but this is atleast how I do it!
Yooo how do u draw teeth? Like ur art has me dying like it's amazing! I understand looking at reference helps but it's still hard to get the concept...if u can explain that would help, thanks if so!
ok!! i’m not the best at explaining but here’s what i generally think about when i draw teeth. aside from understanding ppl’s teeth are arranged in a curve (think two letter “U”s on top of each other) i also try to remember how many teeth there usually are in a human mouth. from there i tend to stylize pretty heavily while still keeping those two in mind. i hope that helps o/
