Do You Have An Tips Or Tricks For 3/4 View? Ever Time I Draw It The Eyes And Nose Come Out Wonky.

Do you have an tips or tricks for 3/4 view? Ever time I draw it the eyes and nose come out wonky.

If youre having trouble you can always grid it out to see what isnt lining up! the nose should fall on the centerline and the eyes/mouth/etc should all be parallel. Unfortunately I dont have any wierd tricks or anything but here’s a quick thing ;;

I could explain this a lot better, but I’m lazy today. |(

Also, I made it a dude each time because drawing in boobs would distract from the underlying muscle and stuff. :Y

Hello? Im getting into drawing and you leg so well? Any advice?

YES! Ok so disclaimer, I did not make this technique. The technique I use i learnt from Sycra on Youtube, please go check out their videos cause they are super detailed and excellent. I also learned my colour theory from their videos, seriousy good stuff. Ok so I usually start out with a hip box. How this is shaped depends on how you want ur character to look i guess but it’s roughly up turned isosceles trapezium.

Hello? Im Getting Into Drawing And You Leg So Well? Any Advice?

from here the basic measurements are about halves not including the hip box. I tend to make the thighs the same height as the torso.

Hello? Im Getting Into Drawing And You Leg So Well? Any Advice?

Ok so here is where Sycra’s technique comes in. They call it the lightning technique i think?? you essentially draw a curvy lightning bolt then connect it up.

line over top and adjust + feet

Hello? Im Getting Into Drawing And You Leg So Well? Any Advice?

the actual composition of the leg i like to think of as tubes with one end smaller than the other. So the thighs are larger at the top and thinner towards the knee. The shin is a more pronounced curve though. You can also cross two lines over as shown and use that as a guideline.

Hello? Im Getting Into Drawing And You Leg So Well? Any Advice?

I always use the lightning technique for legs from profile since it works best. The back of the shin is curved while the front is straight unlike the thigh which seems to be soft and curvy all over aha

I hope this makes some kind of sense??????

A Tutorial Masterpost

I said that I’d show some tutorials I have saved up to someone, but decided that I’d just go ahead and post most of what I have stored away and create a sort of masterpost out of it. (I figure it’ll help me just as much since, as of now, they’re all pretty scattered between my Tumblr and bookmarks)

A lot of these are hosted on my personal Tumblr, but I don’t change my url so it’s pretty safe to bookmark them there (and not have to worry about the url changing) if you don’t wish to reblog them yourself for whatever reason.

The way you draw men is really good, I noticed in your post where you drew some of the trolls as gems. How do you go about constructing a male body? What's your sketching process? You also give Eridan an interesting face shape to accommodate his glasses. I'm very curious about your sketch process and your art in general!

Thank you!

I scribbled a quick thing to show you how I generally think when I draw… Disclaimer, my style is quite stylized, so in no way is my art accurate to real life nor should be used as a source material for accurate anatomy. 😂 Rather, this is a tutorial on how I conceptualize the human body when I draw it…

Usually when i draw bodies (not just masculine types), I usually conceptualize the torso into three “chunks.” What’s important about how to conceptualize these though, is understanding the volumetric shapes these take on and also where these chunks “end.”

Below is an example of my take of a muscular body type with a strong triangular silhouette. The goal below was to emphasize on a strong, confident, and yet also appealing stature. I also put my emphasis on things I find personally attractive lol \o/

image

The red area encompasses the general shoulder and breast area.

The green area is an indicator for the rib cage. (In some instances it would be better to draw the rib cage first because breasts overlap the ribcage.)

The blue area encompasses the rest of the stomach area. Technically the pelvic bone rises a bit higher into this area too, but for the sake of simplification to understand the basic shapes didn’t draw it in the above example.

Here’s how it generally applies to some other body types!

image

I don’t always draw like this sometimes, but i think it’s a good start on how to conceptualize the body into simpler shapes.

Also, for much more lanky body types, I tend to simplify them moreso since they don’t need as much definition on muscle structure.

image

Please do remember it’s better to understand how to simplify the human body after doing studies of anatomy from real life!! I can’t emphasize enough how important studies are

As for how I draw faces, I’ll save that for topic for a rainy day 😂 Hope this helps!

do you have any advice on how to draw armor?? please im dying

yeas <3 so right off the bat i think its important to state but my like. basis from drawing armor is almost completely off of my history of drawing soulsborne characters...... i have a disease, but anywyas yea. i highly recommend it for explorations of interesting yet accurate armor design :-) my favorite designs are from 2 and demons, and i steal a lot of inspiration from their concept art. i simply think it should be ok to take how you draw/view armor or something like that from something else. armor is goofy just draw whatever looks cool.

how i draw armor is basically separating it into sections to focus on ..

image

heres a lionel fr ref. layering is really important i think. i usually just kinda mix up what exactly i have fr each bit but uhhh that works.

image

from there its just shoving random metal, a cape, and some other doohickeys on top. i recommend looking at either preexisting armor or video game/tv show/what have you armor designs you like and just taking bits from it to make your own :-)

image

for gauntlets and the like i usually just simplify it to the point of pointing out where the knuckles are. theyre pretty simple to just shove shit on top of to mkae fancier but theyre super basic. sabbatons too you can get away with just showing where the foot will bend cus they got sooo many segments. think worms. worm shoes.

other than that. if u dont wanna draw a bit just shove a cape on top. i promise no one will notice. people will think its cool. capes always improve a design. i draw every single character with armor with a cape so i dont have to draw it sometimes. or so i just have to draw hints of it. its fine cheating is epic.

uhhh thats kinda all my off the top of my head tips i hope any of them help feel free to ask more specific shit im not good at teaching shit like this :pensive:
