Shout out to selfshippers who don't get much attention in the community. It's perfectly ok to feel hurt when other people get asks and art. It's ok to feel sad that other people get their ships called canon and their art reblogged and you don't.
A lot of people say that you shouldn't care about that cause interaction doesn't define your relationship. It doesnt, but being upset about being ignored/less liked doesn't mean you value your relationship any less. You're allowed to want the kind of interaction others get!! You're allowed to want friends and a place in the community!!

being a self shipper uncomfortable with doubles/sharing fucking sucks. people are so fucking nasty and for what
people in the self ship community that are okay with doubles 9 times out of 10 make you feel bad for not being okay with it
and people outside of the community look at you like youre a freak and they try to shit out "ohh gatekeeping gatekeeping"
like many people dont understand why some self shippers dont like sharing nor do they take the time to understand.
many self shippers dont just self ship with a character bcus "oh attractive ooh theyre my type" but because they have a deep personal and spiritual bond with said character, that character brings them a wave of comfort, safety, and serenity better that anything in reality can. seeing someone else love up on them and be like "omg i feel the same" when you gush about them literally feels like someone saying that about your ACTUAL partner. and it hurts so fucking much.
non sharing self shippers arent trying to gatekeep a character, they arent trying to stop others from enjoying/self shipping with them, they just want people to refrain from doing it around them.
