she feels like an imbecile merely standing there staring at him, robbed of words. what had occurred between them had long since ended, him shooting the final blow when he walked away and left her heart in tattered pieces. despite that, she always thought she would have the comfort f his presence in the castle at least, knowledge that she could walk down a hall and catch sight of them, that she could stroll in the gardens with their son while noah was nearby just so they could spend some time together without suspicion. yet his words of leaving suck the very life from her, frown tugging at her lips. "you can't." she says lamely, shaking her head as she sucked in a deep breath. "please, noah, i - " she cuts herself off, stopping the words from passing her lips and making this all the more difficult for the both of them. "i don't want you to go. i know this is difficult, but to never see each other again? is that truly better?"

"I have spoken with the king, and he has agreed to my request. I will be leaving in 2 days time." Noah had witnessed many horrific things as a knight. The nightmares of war haunted his dreams quite often. Even with those grisly memories, Noah carried on with his head held high. If he could withstand all that weight on his shoulders, what was a little more? Perhaps falling in love with a woman he could not have? Maybe watching her bear his own child, only to claim it belongs to another? One man could only take so much. Noah had to escape this hell on Earth. With the King's permission, he was granted a new position, serving the King's brother. He would be moved to another castle, miles away from the one he was trying to flee from. Before his departure, Noah wished to tie up any loose ends. Although he had ended the affair with the mother of his child some time ago, she still staked claim on his heart. Leaving without telling her goodbye felt too cowardly. They had been through too much.
