Where your favorite blogs come alive
What I love about Shane and Ryan's dynamic is the fact that neither of them are the designated "straightman" (THE ARCHTYPE. THE ARCHTYPE!!! This is not that type of blog.)
And at first it seems glaringly obvious. Shane plays the rational "must've been the wind" type skeptic to Ryan's adamant believer. When Ryan's in that state where he's hyperaware and terrified of everything, Shane's the one who grounds him / helps him calm down and bring him back to his senses. He has to disprove Ryan's theories whenever they get too fantastical to the point of possible harm (of course with the help of the crew).
But Ryan is also the moral voice of reason whenever Shane suggests some crazy antics, he keeps it respectful with the ghouls whenever they visit places. If there was a door that said "DO NOT ENTER the Chamber of Painful Killing and Poison", Shane would go in no second thoughts, cave-diver style and Ryan has to yoink him out and tell him "Dude that is VERY CLEARLY the Chamber of Painful Killing and Poison".
They kind of flip flop between being batshit crazy and holding the other back and I think that's beautiful
