read great gatsby a bit ago and daisy been stuck in my brain ever since
People of Tumblr, I proudly present to you the month’s work of confusion, frustration, and almost turning my Apple Pencil into a projectile that is my submission to one of the Gatsby Challenge posts on insta!
This piece took forever and a whole lot of hard work to make sure everything looked as I wanted it to so please, if you can, go like and boost it on instagram. It would mean a whole lot for this piece of all of them to gain traction lol.
(Non Text Version and ramblings under the cut)
Back to our regularly scheduled Gatsby Posting as of late. This time the song of inspiration is The Met from The Great Gatsby Musical! I would be a lying fool if I said the symbolism in this song has not had an iron grip on my writer brain from the very start. I adore the blatant spotlight it places on Nick and his constant being overshadowed and almost hunted by those around him throughout the story. Seriously, whoever wrote these lyrics, you are great. Also Noah J Ricketts an absolutely amazing Nick I just have to say that. I will absolutely be continuing to loop this soundtrack and am actively trying to plan a trip to NY to see the show live because if I don’t my sorry English nerd self will perish. Until my next post!

“They say he’s third cousin to the Kaiser and second cousin to the Devil!” -Nick Carraway, The Great Gatsby
This was meant to be a single doodle. As you can tell, it did not end that way. So uh. Demon Gatsby or smth like that. Honestly I just thought of the quote and went “haha imagine” then remembered I’m an artists and can do that. I blame that dang Art Deco design for it taking as long as it did to complete cause wow did that take forever for me to like how it looks
Tada!!
✨💵✨“Lucky, boy, you’ve got the hottest ticket in town. A whole new ruling party and your neighbor wears the crown!” ✨💵✨

So. New Money, am I right?
Y’all ever hear a song so good it makes you spend four straight days drawing your first full out art piece in literal year? Cause I have and that song is New Money. This soundtrack continues to blow me away with each new song I hear and I can honestly say I’d die on the spot if I ever got to see it live. The vibe of this song in particular is incredible and Samantha Pauly absolutely kills it as Jordan Baker. To see this story brought to life on stage in all its glamours 1920s glory is simply incredible. Cannot, and I can’t stress this enough, CANNOT wait for the rest of the album this Friday!!
