Look, I'm not saying I would disregard all my morals for the new ganondorf design, but I'm also not NOT saying that.
TOTK has been so much fun! Link is always ready to help you out with ALL the tools you could need!
Annnd, the results are in! Guess I’m gonna draw Sojul and post her profile up sometime soon!
And for those who voted for Akai, don’t worry, they’ll be posted sometime after Sojul’s post-
(aughhh…ok. Here’s some of the writing I did on hiatus, sorry that it kinda throws you into it suddenly, im just writing small little bits and parts as I rewrite the entirety of totk 😃 anyhow the perspective is Link, he’s just traveling to Mipha Court. Literally that’s it- I barely remember my exact experience doing this because it was like…months ago and my memory does not serve me correctly. apologies :)
Word Count: 417 (I promise I write more than this-)
Lady Yona told me to go to Mipha Court… Link thought as he continued his walk, minding the sludge that littered the ground as the nutrient eating parasite that it is. The Hero was worried about the water pollution that he overheard some of the Zora speaking of as well, and it stayed on his mind—though his thoughts were cut short as an arrow flew by his head.
Immediately, Link was on guard, holding up his traveler's shield as another arrow flew by, sinking into the wood with a hint of pressure and an audible thunk. With a quick huff, Link makes the quick decision to flee, hoisting his shield on his back once more, breaking into a sprint. He clumsily scrambles past the large blotches of sludge on the grass, more focused on avoiding arrows.
Link is able to get out of the line of sight of the enemy, whatever it was, but not without falling face first into a pile of sludge. He immediately props himself back up, the foul smelling substance getting stuck on his clothes, though it was much less than he expected. He wipes the excess sludge off of him as best he can, and by the texture, he can take a guess that it’s made to latch onto small crevices, like the small area between scales. Something else the Hero picked up on, is how it drained him of energy the same way Gloom did.
Link’s expression shifts to worry as he catches his breath, worried for the Zora, but also mad at himself for not noticing sooner. The sludge was the Zora version of Gloom. He could almost hear the voice of Mipha scolding him for being so hard on himself though, and Link suddenly remembered what he was doing in the first place.
With a renewed sense of urgency, Link continues trekking to Mipha Court. He was already a little nervous about showing up, he didn’t quite know what to expect. With a deep breath though, he arrives, and his eyes widen slightly. He saw sludge being purified…by none other than the Zora Prince, and his best friend, Sidon.
Link was only able to take a few steps towards the Zora, before he had heard him approaching. Immediately the prince’s eyes seemed to smile along with him as he saw the hero.
“Link, my friend! It’s amazing to see you! I’m so glad you’re alive!” Link was immediately taken into a warm albeit a bit tight of a hug.
should I post more writing and would you guys read it? I did some writing when I was on hiatus, idk if anyone wants to read it or not lmao-
thoughhh….theyre kinda just random bits and pieces of what will eventually be my own version of TotK :)
lemme know what you guys think
i was up at like 1am playing totk and i feel as sleep deprived as he is
…it was worth it though-
(please understand i don't know everything about these games)
seeing conversations about tears of the kingdom on if zelda had stayed a dragon the prophecy would've gotten fucked afterwards, but like... what about before? if she's been an immortal dragon then what about all the other zeldas? sure that can be explained away through time travel bullshit but what about dehydrated ganondorf? he's been alive under the castle the whole time, shouldn't that have fucked with the prophecy as well?
this is why i choose to believe that either:
those two just kinda got kicked out of the prophecy due to their circumstances
or
botw/totk are in a completely different timeline than skyward sword and everything after that. no demise. no prophecy. sure the triforce still exists but ehh it's role in a lot of games has always been minor(not saying in all of them mind you) including botw/totk
edit, the second theory also explains why there's both zora and rito at the same time in the ancient past
I love him and his big ass ears
(Original picture under the cut!)
Look, I'm just saying: would. (And so would you, don't lie.)
Extra notes on TOTK about things I don't quite like and I need to fix because that game has wonderful ideas and mechanics but the story just needed an extra pass or 2.
The sages, WHO WERE THEY? Like, I genuinely cannot understand what each one was supposed to be going for. They have 0 character, at all. And every time we see their cutscene it's just Zelda saying the same thing four times. We know Zelda, Rauru, & Mineru (though Mineru is kinda bland, like we see more of them but what we see is all just plot moving forward. Mineru feels a bit more like a prop than a character is what I'm saying.) The 4 sages for each region? I can guess nothing about them.
So, I want to make one small change. Instead of each cutscene being when Zelda asks for help, it's a moment of Zelda and the Sage, like, bonding. Doing something together as Sages. Maybe Zelda would put together something of a paraglider and go scouting with the rito sage. Maybe she would mess with Zonai tech and blow stuff up with the goron sage. And if seeing Zelda directly ask for help is so important, they could show it at the end. Otherwise the message at the end would be, "I wanted to help save her time, but now I cannot do that. So please accept my secret stone and save Hyrule in my stead."
Just a little, tiny mention of why Sheikah tech isn't around (and perhaps a junkyard of it) would be very nice. I would say the shrines and towers probably sunk back into the ground once the champion beat calamity Ganon, since they no longer served a purpose. The guardians were all demolished, too many painful memories for Hyrule to move forward with them still around. The Sheikah slate was reconfigured into the purah pad. Basically, don't remove a core piece of the world you established in the last game without some explanation.
Fix up the weird scrambled timeline of the fake puppet Zelda. Like, we know from the dragon's tears that this isn't Zelda, so just edit NPC dialogue after the last dragon tear. They're still chasing after this puppet Zelda cause guess what, it's actively hurting people! So they gotta stop it.
Lastly, bring back gerudo vai set I will not REST until that set has RETURNED sure we have frostbite armor but COME ON it was in the previous game it would not be that hard.
I've been thinking about ToTK lately, and one thing consistently bothers me.
Why was Zelda the one to get the time powers? Link is clearly the one who's magic involves time. His past incarnations have traveled through time a whole heck of a lot, plus bullet time and flurry rush. It would fit perfectly in the story as well.
Link, in a fit of desperation to save Zelda, reaches to send her somewhere where Ganon isn't an issue, tapping into his own innate time power to send her all the way back to before Ganon got his secret stone. Zelda cannot simply travel back because she has no power over time. So, she remains in the past, does all the same things, because she does need to fix the master sword.
Meanwhile, Link gets recall not from any outside source, but from himself, with some coaching from Rauru on how to channel his magic through the arm. He sends the master sword back to let Zelda know he hasn't forgotten about her, but he can't send anything more. The story then proceeds as usual. Legit just the tiniest change but I feel like it would make so much more sense.
There are many things I would edit about tears of the kingdom, such as the fact that no one can seem to decide if they want the games to be within one universe or not, (like girlypop the Zonai are cool and all but they do NOT belong on the Zelda timeline,) and that the weird ancient sages being nobodies compared to the champions. But for some reason, this one thing is what sticks out in my mind as something I must fix.
My headcanons for what each link would become when exposed to the shard of twilight/to the dark world and why.
Skyward sword Link (sky): straight up puppy. He's a very friendly, sociable, and loyal Link. Maybe more like a golden retriever
Minish cap Link (minish): Mouse! Very tiny mouse. I think he's generally pretty shy, cautious, so a small rodent would make a lot of sense.
Ocarina of Time/Majora's mask (time): Canon wolf.
ALTTP, Oracles, & Link's awakening (legend): Canon bunny
LoZ I and II (Hyrule): I don't really know em that much but I think dog, maybe even Retriever, like Sky. Mostly based off LU.
Twilight princess (twilight): canon wolf
Four swords adventures: Rats! Since they're very social, could split into a rat pack. Rats can have a very wide range of personalities, like most other pets, but I think they fit Shadow Link a bit more, so by default I go rat.
Wind waker & phantom hourglass(wind): Frog, because I want them to be able to handle both land and water.
Spirit tracks: I got no clue I never played that.
Hyrule warriors (warriors): cat. Very pretty, very opinionated. Will tell you if you're annoying them.
Age of Calamity (Champion, different from post-memory wipe Link): A dog. But now, a very specifically trained dog, like a German shepherd.
Breath of the wild & tears of the kingdom: They're a blupee. If you'd prefer a real animal, a mischievous little rat. But I prefer blupee because he is very much a little blue guy that runs around the forest
Zelda sketch from a while ago <3
