Random guy: Why do you choose to be a furry? Me: I don't choose. and I'm not a furry. Random guy: What do you mean you don't choose, and ofc your a furry, your acting like an animal. Me: I'm not a furry, I am a therian. And being a therian is not a choice. And for your information I'm doing quads. Random guy: the hell is a therian, and why cant you choose? Me: well, A therian is someone who identifies, either psychologically or spiritually, as a non-human animal, and identifying as a therian involves a feeling of being connected to a non-human animal species on a non-physical level. but some people have it different. Random guy: And how are you a therian? you make no sense. Me: *tired of this guy* For me I know I'm a therian because I have theriotypes, A theriotype is the specific animal species, including both real and mythical creatures, that a therian, or person who identifies as non-human, identifies with. Some types of therians don't know, or don't have a theriotype. Random guy: how do you know what "theriotype" you have? Me: Finding your theriotype is a personal journey. There's no single "right" way to do so. It's about feeling a deep connection with a particular animal and identifying with its behaviors and traits. I feel a strong connection with curtain animals. Random guy: You know what? This is stupid and to hard to understand. Your just weird. I'm leaving.*walks off* Me:(mind) Thank God that guy is gone.

This Is very similar to a real conversation I had with someone and It annoyed me sooooooo much. But I guess I can't get too mad at the guy because not many people know what a therian is, and it's kinda sad in my opinion. I hoped this helped some people learn on what a therian is and please tell me if I got something wrong 😅 or missed something! Hope y'all have a great rest of your day!!!

Nobody needs this but here’s what level I feel my kins

Wolf dog- spiritually (I feel this identity pretty strongly, having some urges to bark or hunt or howl. It depends on the day cause some days I wouldn’t mind being perceived as one while others I rather not)

Domestic cat- Spiritually (I’m having a pretty strong connection with this identity today, it does switch once in a while. When it comes to urges my dog theriotype would be stronger in that as I don’t get urges for my cat type but I do view myself as one, not fully, instead I’ll view my human body with ears or a tail or other animalistic things)

Shapeshifter- spiritually (I don’t have a very strong connection to this one but it does affect some of my theriotypes or give me certain urges or feelings. I feel as if my body is stuck, like I’m meant to be more and do more than just this. It can also affect my identity and give me feelings of wanting multiple or not wanting one at all)

Shigaraki- Physically (I view my body as my fictionkin. I believe I was him in a past life and therefore we are the same soul, same soul=same body. When I imagine myself I’ll always have similar features as him. I perceive myself as him and also wouldn’t mind being perceived as him)

When it comes to how I view my soul I definitely view each as a different version of myself which is why I may talk about Shigaraki in 3rd person instead of 1st. I experience mental shifts once in awhile, Shigaraki more often but sometimes I get some for my other kins too

I recently found out my canine theriotype is actually a wolf dog (probably a Aussie or karst Shepard) and ever since I found out about that I’ve been feeling a lot more animalistic. I’ve had the urge to do quads a lot more, I desperately need hear of my theriotype, I’ve been ah e the urge to bake and howl at the moon a lot more too

Ive been questioning my Therianthropy again cause I feel like I don’t experience it like everyone else.

Like physically I see myself as human but in my head I’m a dog or I can’t help but imagine my human self with a tail (or my fictionkin’s features) while everyone else seems to see themselves as their theriotype no matter what, and then I question if I really am a therian or if I’m just mixed up 😔

Something really important I want alterhumans who may be struggling with mental issues or delusions is that you are no less alterhuman. As someone who struggles with delusions sometimes those can mix into your alterhumanity in a really annoying way. I hope you can one day get the help you need and enjoy your otherkinity however makes you happy! <3

I think I wanna start calling myself a therianthrope instead of a therian. I know the change is small. But they have the same meaning (to my knowledge) and therianthrope isn't used as much. The terms therian and therianthropy have been watered down so much on places like tiktok, youtube, and even instagram and pinterest. I personally wear masks and tails and all that stuff and I even do quadrobics sometimes, but I seriously wish that wasn't the most common perception of therianthropy.

Hi, I go by Reayen. I’m a therian and Shigaraki fictionkin (I believe I’m a reincarnation of him).

My theriotypes/kins are- dog(not sure what breed yet but it kinda looks like an Aussie), I think feline but I’m questioning, shapeshifter, and I think some sort of monster dog.

I’ve only known about my therianthropy for a few months now so things are bound to change as time goes on. I’ve only found out what a fictionkin was a day ago (turns out I wasn’t just going insane all those years lol)

I like How To Train Your Dragon, The Amazing Digital Circus, Murder Drones, Across The Spider Verse, Smiling Friends, Puss in Boots, and Steven universe.

I had a dream about my death as a dragon. I was trying to save this village from being attacked by their enemies and while I was flying over the village, I felt pain in my pit of my arm. One of their archers had shot at me. The rest followed suit and I flew up to a mountain and died there due to my wounds.

My scales are navy blue with white specks. I have horns, 4 legs, 2 bat-like wings, and a strong tail to whip things with. My face is sharp, I have bright green eyes, and very sharp fangs.

I really love the variety of dragons within the alterhuman community :} it's awesome how we all have so many different colours, builds, behaviours, origins, etc, how 'dragon' encapsulates such a large group of animals!! tonight i caught a moth and released it outside. for some reason, it got me thinking about my faun self.

would the faun have gently scooped the moth into its hands and marveled at the whisper-light touch of the moth's wings against its palms? would the faun have been careful going down the stairs, mindful of the frightened moth? would the faun have been pleased when, upon opening its hands, the moth stayed perched on its fingers? would the faun have gently blown on the moth's wings to encourage it to fly into the night?

not likely. my fauns aren't cruel, but neither are they gentle. those delicate wings would have been torn and crushed in clumsy hooves, and after a moment of confusion and curiosity, the faun would have moved on, forgetting the moth entirely.

in this life, i watched the moth fly away. i looked up what species it is - a dotted gray. and i remember it.

i'm happy that i'm gentle now.

A small tut on how i made my ear wings

List of things you’ll need:

Foam sheet/cardboard -> for the base

feathers (i used these :

Scissors

Glue (i used hot glue)

A headband

STEP 1:

Cut out the base (i recommend using a real wing as a reference. The height of the base of the wing should be a bit bigger than the height of your ear.

i labelled them left and right, but it’s pretty useless to do that.

STEP 2:

I painted the base white because the feathers aren’t opaque, and we could see the purple of the base.

STEP 3:

It’s time to glue the long feathers on! Make sure to position them before gluing, to make sure they look ok. Make sure to to follow those handy guide!

STEP 4:

Position the second (round) layer of feathers! I fold over any feather that went over the base on the top, to keep it looking clean.

STEP 5:

Now is the time to add the fluffy feathers if you want to!

STEP 6:

Time for the back! You can either leave it white or put feathers on the back too.

STEP 7:

Almost done! It’s time to attach them to the headband. If the one you have is made of plastic and is smooth, you should wrap some thread around it and glue it to the headband before the wings, so that the wings won’t detach

This is the pink thread i used, it’s embroidery thread. I used about the length of my arm for each side, and i then lathered it in hot glue. Not super clean, but it works.

MAKE SURE YOU VERIFY THE PLACEMENT OF THE WINGS BEFORE GLUING THEM SO THEY’RE NOT WONKY!!!!

Next, the actual attaching. You can glue the ears directly onto the headband.

STEP 8:

Wow! Your wings are done! Good job :3
