RIGHT! Infuriates me when people call Maka sensitive for the way she views her father. While we, the audience, get to see Spirit as just a silly little guy who’s heart is in the right place (sometimes), she views him as the person who cheated on her mother and likes to act like a fool. He seems upset that Maka views him in this light, but he never fixes up his behavior, only ever trying to take actions instead to win over Maka’s affection. (Giving Maka gifts, going out together, and very loud praise.)
I think if he actually talked to Maka outside of his protective dad persona, he’d get a lot farther with trying to have a better relationship with his daughter. And maybe Maka could cope in healthier ways with what happened.
honestly both of maka’s parents suck in different ways im glad she got a second pair
