Reblogging on main to say I had this happen a week or so ago when I went to a museum.
They had a Tsintaosaurus skeleton there (Tsintaosaurus was a hadrosaur with a sort of unicorn horn), and I had expected hadrosaurs to be about the size of a cow, or maybe a horse at most. Nope. They're almost four metres tall.
So imagine all 5 feet of me, in the dinosaur room, staring up at this enormous creature. It was awesome in the most literal sense.

I’m so emotional about dinosaur stuffed animals,,, there are these creatures, extinct long before any of us were alive, but we found their bones and their eggs and their footprints. And we made drawings and models of what they could’ve looked like. And we made them into stuffed animals so we could hold them. We made them soft so we could love them. I’m sobbing

veloci moves to Gotham or metropolis or [insert corrupt city here] to do more evil schemes
it syncs up with the squads school field trip (either out of convenience or because he’s trying to weed out who specifically is a dino), and the squad meet different heroes (more chaos if they’re teen heroes)
danny phantom crossover
ms Moynihan and victor veloci are halfas and the team ends up discovering that the ooze does some ghost thing that imbues them with the power and form of a dinosaur or something and theyre also half ghost as a result
they must then come to terms with the fact that if they remove the dino they’ll be seriously harmed and significantly weakened (cue mad scientist jack and madie)
You could have it so veloci teams up with them at fist, but they see him try to attack Danny because he recognises him, and they realise he’s a true, prehistoric dinosaur halfa, and as a result, a much rarer and more valuable test subject
fnaf au
the squad become the animatronics (victor veloci and ms Moynihan are the original ones, they’re like the fun time ones or security breach ones, but more dino versions)
Age swap au (can’t think of name)
the squad adopt ms Moynihan (child in this au) and must help her fight against the mutated animals as she deals with her school rival victor veloci (potentially got bit by a mutant dino animal and the ooze entered his blood, so he has more experience than Moynihan) (can play out as many genres, ideally (in my mind) a high school drama, or a horror (think ghost face, but velociraptor instead))
on a similar note;
Infection au
veloci made a batch meant to mutate humans, but messed up some genetic coding, so they have become mindless and moving with only basic urges (eat, drink, sleep, fight back), and the squad, having already come in contact with the successful ooze, must fight this
(Easy fix: their normal tech works, but repair tools must be aquired harder fix: tech brakes, turns out to be a state wide (or global) event)
Mlp crossover
they wake up in the world of Mlp, and chaos ensues
they remain unsure of how to get back (I had g4 in mind, but it’d honestly be funnier with earlier generations)
Warrior cats au
can be with or without powers
dino clan sounds awesome
ice age au
they become ice age animals instead of dinosaurs
and they get plot progression too
Monster high crossover
Any generation
they mistake one of the characters pets for a dino (or veloci turns animals into dinos) and they follow it to monster high
Keep Jackson Jekyll and holt Hyde in so they have someone kinda similar (turn from human to something else)
scream street (British kids show one) crossover
They get mistaken for monsters and dragged there, ms Moynihan assumed to be their mother
Ben ten crossover
he mistakes them for fellow omnitrix users, and copies the dna of one of them so he ends up able to turn into dinosaurs (likely ms Moynihan since she’s originally a dinosaur)
they help him with aliens, he helps them with their dino animals
Ninjago crossover
S1 specifically (my favourite season)

they end up in separate classes, and buzz chills with the brotherhood for a bit and gives toad a confidence boost since he thinks amphibians are cool
the others get into the x men by pretending that they’re mutants

scenario in which they get sent to the future
the squad meet past veloci and Moynihan, who are exactly like smart, immature crows
they end up stuck in dino for (or just one of them) and they find ways around it (or other wise get caught)
one of Caruso’s hair gels ands up very similar to the primordial ooze one night when he’s particularly tired, and he secretly uses it for a power boost, only to discover that it’s slowly making him more dino than human (he can’t reverse it)

So, we know modern domesticated, (and even some wild!) animals enjoy being petted.
The question is. How far back in the history of evolution does this trait go?
What dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals would have loved a good head rub?? Which ones would have flopped over for some under-the-chin scritches??? Would some of them have headbutted you to ask for more affection like a cat??? Did some make happy sounds, like purring???
This is information I need. I need to know. Animals today exhibit these behaviors so it's pretty likely they could have done so in the past too!!
The idea of them being affectionate towards each other as well (as opposed to how they're often portrayed hunting/fighting/being scary) makes me happy too. I desperately wish we could see how they behaved.
I wonder how many eras of Earth's natural history have been completely lost just because they didn't make a visible mark on the planet.
I wonder how many species have been forever lost to time only because they never fossilized or left behind and traces of their existence.
Who knows what incredible, terrifying, or seemingly alien forms of life once called this planet home, that we'll never know once existed?
Ancient life is incredible. It makes me sad to know that so many species of flora and fauna and everything in between will never be known. Things so odd they seem straight out of movies.
Life and evolution are just so incredible, and deserve so much more appreciation than they get.
It is once again that time where I re-realize that dinosaurs aren't just cool creatures in the media, they're literally animals that used to exist in the past, and they weren't monsters or anything, they were just animals.
Not fantasy or anything. Nothing special. Cause they actually existed at some point in time. Just animals.
They seem so foreign and alien to think about, but really this earth belonged to them just as much as it belongs to us now. We stand on the same big rock that they did millions and millions of years ago.
We drink the same water. Breathe the same air.
Amazing.
I love them.
The thought that dinosaurs and other prehistoric life forms were at one point truly alive and roaming the earth and just behaving no different from any other living thing today just makes me so happy.
I don't even know if happy is the right word, I just couldn't possibly describe the type of amazement I get from thinking about it, I can't put words to it.
Like, these were real living creatures, they aren't from fantasy or mythology.
They breathed and ate and slept and did all sorts of normal animal things, because they were normal! Not some bloodthirsty monsters, they just did what they had to to survive, just like modern day animals.
Looking at the fossils I have in my collection and really thinking about it just amazes me. My little fish, at one point, was swimming around in the water with all the other fish, except this was millions of years ago. It's a little piece of the past, frozen in time, letting people today have even just the smallest glimpse of things that happened so long ago that we'd otherwise have no idea about.
It just, amazes me that at one point, all these creatures that, by comparison to today's life, are so strange or creepy or alien or whatever were once just the norm. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to see a huge beast of a reptile looming ominously in a forest, or a flying creature far more deadly looking than today's birds of prey soaring through the air, or just, whatever the hell was going on in the Cambrian period, and it was all normal.
I know I'm just repeating myself a lot but wow I just get all sorts of feelings when I think about this stuff

I fused my OC Drasil with the pokemon Goodra. Ultimate comfort character has been created. All hail Goodrasil.
It took entirely too long and too much patience to complete this, but I'm really proud of how it came out! Did a lot of playing around with shading and lighting, and I love how it looks. Clearly it's not perfect (the fuckn flowers lol), but I'm still stoked about it. Progress!!!!
