hey so i’m braindumping but has anyone ever thought abt the transgender potential of like. a member of the fey clan. probably but im gonna talk abt it anyway.
you are small. and the women of your village loom over you in more ways than one. they are different in a way that is unlike you. maybe you are born to one of the powerful ones, a strong bloodline, your ability all but guaranteed. you are fussed over, coddled, the legacy of your mother and her mother and her mother’s mother. you will be powerful one day. but as time passes, you are not. you cannot change your body, cannot change your mind, cannot force yourself into the corners to make room for a new conciousness, be someone you are not. you are different in a way that is unlike them. maybe you wish you could. maybe this shows you something about yourself. maybe all it shows you is that those who coddled you only did so for the power they assumed you would bring them. maybe you are alone. maybe you were only ever meant to be yourself.
ALTERNATIVELY.
you are small. from a young age you know that you are not special. you envy the other girls around you, their community, the hushed whispers you can’t quite hear, the spaces that feel like home but deny you entry. they are a part of something large. you are a fragment, something small, built to support their weight. and yet you grow. there is power in you that people are convinced is wrong. it doesn’t belong to you, they are sure, but it is so familiar. it is you. you find yourself in others. not just the ones you can be, now, the ones whose voices you can return from the dark. the ones who always cared for you, loved you despite and because of whatever you felt had fragmented within you. the ones who knew you were something bigger, something familiar. there is power in finding yourself. there is power in finding home.
