Summary: When most people say “You don’t know him the way I do,” it’s easy to dismiss it as someone making excuses for giving their heart to the wrong person. But that’s not the case when it comes to Adam. You know a different side of him. A place grown from friendship from the moment that you met. Another big difference is that you haven’t given him your heart.

Or maybe you have and you just never told him.

Then again, maybe you have his without knowing it, too.

summary: adam has been trying to buy a ps5 for months now and when he fails to buy it once again, he gets so upset. what adam doesn’t know is that you had finally got your hands on one and bought him one - though it was supposed to be a present, you decided to give it to him earlier.

You sat beside Adam and watched as he continued to refresh his web browser, his fingers shaking with apprehension as he waited to get out of the queue he was currently in.

“Come on, come on,” Adam whispered to himself, over and over. His eyes were fixated on the screen and you swore that he forgot that you were right there next to him.

This was practically his a thousandth try - and you wish you were exaggerating - to get a PS5. Adam had come close every time during each drop and just when it’d come time to check out, the game console that he yearned for would be out of stock, making him more disappointed and upset than the last time.

You sat next to him, also watching the screen, and let out a sigh of relief when Adam was finally out of the queue. The way he quickly got into the zone, clicking away at the PS5 version that he want and scrambling for his wallet when he was checking out made you grow nervous.

Though, you were excited for him. It seemed like he was finally going to get it after so many tries and when he clicked “place order”... once again..

Out Of Stock.

Adam’s face dropped and he gently shoved his laptop away from him, his head falling into his hands as he sighed. “I didn’t want it that bad anyways.” He said, the disappointment clear in his voice.

You frowned and rubbed his back, unable to verbally comfort him as you had no idea what to say. Usually, you were able to spit out so many words of wisdom and turn Adam’s sad face into a beautiful smile.

But now, you felt just as defeated as he did.

A Few Weeks Later

Adam had been so upset still and even though he tried his hardest to hide it, you knew him well enough to know that this was affecting him.

Of course, being the best partner that you are, you spent your free time searching for any places that might have had PS5’s in stock and in person. You knew that you wouldn’t have luck trying to buy it online, so you hoped for a miracle.

Thankfully, the nearest Target had them in stock and you tried not to question it as you sped over there.

When you got there, you marveled at how many were locked away in the glass cases, wondering why the hell hadn’t Adam just looked in person.

Paying for the console made you cringe at how expensive it was - though, you had to remind yourself that you were buying this for Adam as a present and it was something that he wanted really bad.

Once you got home, you quickly wrapped the box and hid it for the meantime until Adam came back from visiting some friends.

You stood a few feet away from the door when you heard him fiddling with his keys as he tried to unlock the door. When Adam opened the door, his bright smile turned into a worried frown when he saw you twiddling with your fingers, waiting for him.

“What’s the matter?” He asked, walking over to you and grabbing your hands in concern.

“Uh, well. I have a surprise for you! I wanted to give it to you as a Christmas present, but now I can’t resist anymore.” You rambled, trying to show Adam that he had absolutely nothing to worry about through your words. You pressed a quick kiss against his cheek and motioned for him to sit down, which he did with a look of confusion on his face as you walked away.

“Close your eyes!” You shouted from the dining room, almost struggling to grab the weighted box that container the console and a few other things. You smiled at the bow that you had stuck onto the wrapped box and walked back into the living room, placing the box in front of an unaware Adam.

“Open.” You gently said, sitting down next to him on the couch and watched with a big smile as his hands dropped from his eyes.

“What is this?” Adam asked curiously with a laugh, ripping off the wrapping paper as you pushed him playfully.

His ridiculously loud gasp made you laugh and Adam immediately wrapped his arms around you, thanking you over and over again.

“How did you-.. where did you-... when did you-..” Adam could barely speak, his eyes glimmered with you and his cheeks were so rosy from surprise.

“Don’t worry about all that,” You smiled and pressed a soft kiss against his lips. “I just knew how bad you wanted it and I hated seeing you so upset, Adam.”

Adam could only look at you and smile, his hand grabbing yours and caressing it softly. “I’m so lucky to have you.” He whispered, the admiration in his eyes made goosebumps rise onto your arms. The way he looked at you so tenderly and in love.. your stomach was swarming with butterflies.

“I’m gonna go set it up,” Adam giddily said and got up, grabbing onto the box. “Come with me, babe!”

Before you even gave Adam the present, you wondered if giving it to him sooner would lose the magic - that it wouldn’t make sense.

But seeing how happy he was, you knew it was a great idea. And you weren’t even mad that Christmas had came early.

Well that was just cute af. Now I’m picturing the UE brainstorm for how he should ask them out and it’s endlessly entertaining as well.
